Carla, it's entertaining to hear you describe what you've seen and listened to from your sickbed. Entertaining and educational. I hadn't realized you'd been ill, but I'm happy that you're getting rest and relaxation. I also didn't know how deep your interest in the world of recorded theatre is, acting, camera work, plots et al. I really enjoyed this video as much as any of your previous videos. You could have been lecturing a university class of film students. Well done! And evidently a passion of yours. Just . . . Bravo! Please continue to take good care of yourself as you see fit to do. Of course, your hair is beautiful before and after. ☺
glad you are recovering Carla. Made me chuckle when you mentioned Joan Hickson as your favourite Miss Marple. My maiden name was Hickson and my brother used to tell people Joan Hickson was his grandma!!
Joan Hickson is also my favourite Miss Marple. Joan did an interview interview once, where she explained that Agatha Christie saw her in a play and asked her to be Marple. Hickson was exactly what Christie was looking for. I've always thought that was pretty cool
Charlotte Gray starring cate blanchet it's free to watch on film 4...... If you get your hands on the dvd it has an amazing bonus documentary about SOE women sent to France WW2 plus interviews with the actual women sadly now passed away it's brilliant
Hi Carla, some great recommendations thank you. For me there’ll only be one Miss Marple, Margaret Rutherford. Second would definitely be Joan Hickson who as you know was in Murder She Said back in the day. One of My favourite movies has to be This Happy Breed, I watch it very often,it’s here on UA-cam, starring Celia Johnson,Robert Newton, John Mills and a host of other faces you’d know,if you’ve not seen it I’d heartily recommend it. I’m the same with Good Omens,I adore both the leading actors but for some reason it just doesn’t do it for me. I’ve also been watching some old Mike Leigh movies, one I watched recently was Grown Ups, it had Lesley Manville and a very young Vera, bloody love Vera😊 great vlog, hope you’re feeling better now.😊x
Hi carla, just started watching Brassic finding really good but must admit wasn't looking forward to it..itvX has the twelve and I believe a second series is available too, really enjoyed the 1st series.. 4 parter The Jetty is good and a second series of Sherwood starts Sunday...The English if you didn't see it originally is a good series...And Godless, a western, think that's Netflix is also good with strong women characters...The night agent..and designated survivor...hopefully 1 or 2 will suit you...
Went the day well is one of my faves as well, so nice to hear other people know it, like you Liz no one I know has seen it. Would also recommend A Matter of Life and Death (1946).
Am I imagining it or were you talking really fast ? It would be different to Brigerton because Lady Jane Grey is a true story, Brigerton is definitely not a true story. What a wonderful film wtdw is, .
Regarding Good Omens, I loved the first series and have watched it several times. I was really looking forward to Good Omens II, but I haven’t managed to get into it at all. My favourite Miss Marple is Geraldine McEwan. Love her very different take on the character. I’m presently watching Gotham. I’m very late to the party with this show, but I love it. It’s when Bruce Wayne is a youngster and all the characters are from Batman, but with a more realistic spin on them.
Really enjoyed this blog Carla thank you. I have completely different tastes in films to you but it's so interesting to hear your opinions and recommendations. Love your longer blogs 😊😊 xx
I really enjoyed this - loved Mrs Harris goes to Paris and now want to watch the original. I recently watched The Hour on Netflix and thought it was really good 😊
I enjoyed this content thank you... I watch Max and Occy (Occy) is the dog.. he use to do van life, but now has done rebuilt a cabin in the rain Forrest, he is Australian.. xx
I have just found here on UA-cam 'The Farm' which is all about a Australian couple their children and 21 rescue dogs. I also watch ' The Asher House' which is again all about mostly rescuing dogs by one man and his team in America. I am crazy about dogs 😊
Joan Hickson WAS Miss Marple (although the first version of her I ever saw was Margaret Rutherford, who, bless her, was very good but not at all like the depiction in the books). Agatha Christie books are what got me reading fiction, loved her works as a kid. You've seen Downton Abbey, I imagine. Have become enamoured with the actress Ruth Wilson recently, she's so wicked & good at it. I love Outlander & Shetland.I listen to audiobooks all the time, it sparks the imagination. Netflix: Wicked Little Letters (Olivia Coleman), Matt Rife (comedian ). Really enjoyed A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. And Derby Girls - very funny.
The big bang theory - must have watched it half a dozen times - so good. Also young sheldon. Im just an addict but impatient cant watch something that requires me to wait for the next episode.
There is a UA-cam channel by a lady called Roz (also name of channel). She is not a full time van life person but she does extended trips round the UK in a tiny caravan with her dog Winston. The videos are full of lovely scenery and she also shows you round each campsite.
Hi Carla ,enjoyed this chatty vlog huni ,I watch DIY Tiff she is a really clever young lady ,I have not seen carry on spying either sending you virtual hugs Katie 💕💜💕
Good afternoon Carla.Sorry to hear youve not been well.I myself am up in bed as Ive just had a cancerous lump removed and watching tv on my laptop Like you I enjoy the classic Carry on films. If you like Agatha Christie there is a few of Agatha Christies films newly adapted (I think one of them is Ordeal by Innocence)on BBC iPlayer. Also on the same channel is A very British murder with Lucy Worsley. All about British murders. Fact and fiction. She did a whole load of episodes before this about British history. I mentioned this as you said you enjoy history. I'm not a lover of Lucy Worsley but I enjoy the way her programmes are adapted. Hope you soon feel well ❤
Angela Lansbury was born in 1925. She had an 80 year career. She died in 2022 when she was 96. She must’ve been in thousands of shows and films. I love Agatha Christie too Carla and Joan Hickson is far the best Marple. I hope you’re feeling much better now. I enjoyed hearing about your viewing history. This is an older Netflix drama but I recommend the Queen’s Gambit. It’s about chess but don’t let that put you off. I remember Lexx recommending this when it first came out in 2020.
Thanks for the recommendations. I love old films too. My recommendations are All the Margaret Rutherford Miss Marple films. The man who knew too much (Doris Day) Last Stop Larrimah (Netflix)
The Hours ( Series 1 and 2) is good. Wicked little letters. Shetland, thats really good. Wednesday about Wednesday Addams. Ive watched so many good series lately. I enjoy Police and murder shows, trying to guess the murderer .I will have to try to remember them, and add them here...( its 2am) Also, I've been watching many black and white films on You Tube. I, too, thought id seen all the Carry On films, but have never heard of Carry On Spying
I did a tv day yesterday I did dirty dancing top gun beetlejuice and bugysmalone and me daughter put on one tree hill ❤not sure what today's choice is yet 🤔 gonna go feed me cats put the bins out for recycling collection and have me a bree and some brekki have a fab wed ❤
Miss Scarlet and the Duke is our current favourite. It's about a Victorian female private detective. Loved Larksrise to candleford. Going to try and find it again. Great content. Thanks for sharing x
Went the day well is also my favourite film I find nobody has ever heard of it. Totally agree Joan Hickson is Miss Marple she was the best ever. Also love the Carry on’s . I watched the box number play recently it was actually quite sad. I love the Mitford sisters too was very jealous when you recently got all those books. I think we have very similar tastes but I must say I refuse to watch Bridgeton. Very much enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing Liz x
I read Mrs Harris goes to Paris and would like to see the film adaptation, however, it is not available on Netflix in the US. I watched Maggie Cole on PBS over a year ago - I enjoyed it.
Disney plus, a small light I would highly recommend, it's about neip geis who was in the employ of Mr Frank and helped the family in hiding....... Podcasts are great the rest is history and stuff you should know, also a short history of.... Is good narrator one of the mcgann brothers on some of the short history of podcasts
I agree re Marple - Joan Hickson and one of my fave actress Margaret Rutherford. had no idea about radio plays being available - i don't sleep well - so that would be great to try, hope your feeling a lot better Carla xx can 000 ask where you got those earrings from Carla? people who i am subscribe to and watch regularly on you tube are Brothers oof Serpent - ancient mysteries Boone Bake - beautiful and different cakes Blessing Boys Becky Reynolds Akis Petretzikis Fumi Desalu Void Lisa Monique - beauty - now gardening Milabu The behaviour Panel - awesome - 4 professionals take apart body language of famous people/ serial killers etc John Butler - so interesting, a gentle learned chap Dancing Bacons - they go round night markets in China etc and try cuisine - hotels etc or just type in - night markets - lots of asmr relaxing videos
One of the best films I have ever seen was ‘operation daybreak’. It is filmed in Prague and is a true story about ss officer heydrich (the butcher of Prague) who was to be assassinated by British trained Czech people. It is so much more than just that. It truly makes me cry at the end. Not much of a fan of war movies, but this is such a stand out story, and so well made. Would recommend it to anyone. In fact I want to watch it again. What is fascinating is that a lot of the filming in 1975, shows prague as it is then. My husband worked near Prague for several years in the 1990’s and the buildings were still the same - I could recognise nearly all of the locations from being there. Perhaps that’s why I thought it was so good. Seen it twice and each time was truly appreciative of what a great film it was. Hope you’re well on the mend now Carla 😊

I've just seen Wicked little letters and really enjoyed it. She's one of those actresses who seems to be good in everything. Also loved Shetland.
I watched dear box number on a whim and actually enjoyed it . I often listen to radio plays whilst cleaning 😊
The big bang theory - must have watched it half a dozen times - so good. Also young sheldon. Im just an addict but impatient cant watch something that requires me to wait for the next episode.
I think you might enjoy Carnival Row. It seems like it might be along the same lines as Lady Jane.
❤❤❤
