In Western Pa C5’s are scarce and priced high during this unusual time. Clean, low mileage and well maintained C5’s go for $19k - $22k here. Z06’s a few grand more. I bought a 2000 C5 convertible and 2002 Targa last summer that were in excellent condition, under 50k miles, and fully optioned. Sold the convertible a few weeks ago for a very fair price. Not a huge markup as what local dealers sell for. Most C5’s now go for about 30% more than last summer. There are many here that require too much attention for their high asking prices. Patience, research and buying when prices are seasonally adjusted can yield some solid value C5”s.
Please keep up these great C5 videos.

As someone in DFW looking at/for C5s, this was a fun video. Well done on the commentary, particularly the warning regarding water damage - which should apply to any car from the Gulf Coast or lower Atlantic seaboard.

Great post, I’ve seen a similar one from you in the past. Need to be smart, look at all the clues like you said. Clean interior means the owner took care of it and “most likely” kept up w. Oil changes, Maintenance, etc. definitely enjoy your approach! I’ll be ready for my C5 in about 4-5 years as I get closer to retirement in 5 years ! Definitely will do my research similar to how you display it here.
The first one for just under $10k for one with 175k miles isn’t one I would be looking at. Too many miles for that kind of $. Like you said for one with about 40k miles now is a good mileage to gauge by.
    Have a great day !

Thank you - good luck and if you find one that meets your criteria sooner - pull the trigger. Just not this year - prices still crazy!

@@Toys4Life Agree, Prices are ridiculously high which for me is a blessing. Im not ready financially and won’t be for at least 3 years so by then the prices should level out and back to “normal” !

I'm an older guy. I'd love to own one. In another video, you said to avoid certain model years. Yet in this video you're telling folks to consider buying those years. I'm confused? Can you help me to understand your thinking on those weaker years?

Sorry, I'll try to clarify. All things being equal, look for a 2002 three or four. 2001 is not so bad either. The biggest problem with the 97 through 2000 is that electronic brake control module that you cannot find and it's almost impossible to get it repaired. If that goes, you lose anti-lock brakes and anti-handling. Most important thing is finding one that you can do a thorough test drive have it checked out by a good mechanic. With this old of a car I would take a well-maintained 99 over a poorly maintained 2003. Does that help at all?
