"We all have a medicine to offer the world" - love that! Wonderful wisdom shared in this conversation. I wish our U.S. President today and whoever he or she may be in the future would recite your prayer for peace. ☮️🕊️ Eimear, I hope you have a wonderful month off in August! I enjoy listening to your Fireside Chats when working on an art project or folding laundry! I'll listen to older chats I never played before during the next month. With love from California, Happy Lughnasa to you both! 🌻🌿🌽🌞🧡
Most of my ancestors come from Northern Ireland, Southern Scotland, and Wales. Many were religious separatists, serfs, and indentured servants escaping the oppression found in the British Isles with some of my ancestry dating back over 400 years here in the North American continent. People are not educated on how desolate the harsh climated North American continent was at the arrival of the pilgrims. For anyone who believes that the 2+ million nomadic people on the 9 million square miles of the North American continent, above the current border of Mexico, had total claim on this entire massive swath of land should reconsider their understanding of what constitutes indigenous settlement. Few places on earth were more void of human life. Besides the pilgrims purchasing much of this land from the few existing settlers; what the Apache, Comanche, Crow, Pawnee, etc viewed to be an injustice to them by the pilgrims would have been viewed as justice by the tribes these Indians raided and exterminated, and who's lands they occupied. We just kept records of it as a people. This is why it is enshrined to forever be used against us by those who would marginalize us and our accomplishments as a western civilization. As such, people should be careful on what they perceive as occupied land.
