Had one of your biggest competitors here in Chattanooga tell me this exact thing just last week. Unfortunately, I'm probably still going to have to use them because I was told that since half of my crawlspace is less than 24" in height that your company can't do the job for me. Super disappointing :(
I have a closet that has older clothes, shoes, purses. The closet has just been sitting and the door is rarely opened. It's a second home. I went in the closet the other day and two pairs of leather shoes were moldly/fine film and 2 leather purses were the same way. Should I throw out everything ? I would think this clothing may have invisible mold, too? Ant advice ?
Mold spores are everywhere, you can't change that fact, so if you get moisture, you inevitably will get active mold anyway. If you can remove the existing mold easily, at a reasonable price, better to remove it. But if you have a crawlspace that is 18" high, and the work will be horribly difficult and expensive, then sealing up that crawlspace as best you can, and installing a GOOD dehumidifier, and a couple fans to move air to the remote areas of the crawl, will definitely help. Not everyone has tens of thousands of dollars to do a high end encapsulation job and mold remediation.
I appreciate your comment, and I agree that controlling moisture is vital. I made the video to emphasize that the dehumidifier does not kill mold because many say it will. Thanks for watching.
I have 4 dehumidifiers in my home because of excess moisture
Been watching your videos and I have found mold growing in my basement. Have to throw away so many valuable things right now 😪. Any recommendations on having someone come out to Kingsport Tennessee? About 10 mins away from Johnson city tn.

You can wipe it off , disinfect , then encapsulate with a mold proof paint like fosters.
We like this product to prevent mold. diy.crawlspaceninja.com/anabec-x70/
What about using the proper chemicals and just hand wiping the mold off of the wood if you don't have a blaster?
It is much more time consuming and runs a higher risk of missing spots, but you can definitely do that. We do always recommend physically removing the mold.
What type of company can I get to cut crawl space vents? My home was built in 78 and has vents on the back and one end but none on the front or other end and has caused mold. Its been addressed but will return w/out proper ventilation any assistance would be greatly appreciated
If you watch his other videos, you will find that you do not want a vented crawlspace. You want to seal all of the vents and encapsulate the dirt in plastic. You also want to install a dehumidifier to lower humidity. The only vents you want open are ones in which you install a Foundation Ventilation Fan (Lomanco PCV 1) to remove soil gases that build up in encapsulated crawlspaces.
@@thomasmorrison3279 that's way too expensive easy over 10k. I simply need vents cut. Tks anyway though
@@kentucky8554 If physically able and willing to research yourself DIYs it's actually not that bad financially.
We recommend dehumidifying the crawl space and only having 1 vent fan installed blowing out with the other vents sealed. If you still want to have more vents installed, a foundation company should be able to help you come up with a plan to get that done.
Mold needs moisture to grow. Get rid of the moisture you stop the mold.
One of your competitors really took us for a ride under our church building, and now they’re wanting to hit us again. We are 45 minutes NE of Johnson City in Butler, TN. Is there any way I could give you a personal invitation to come help us out? 🙏
Hey Greg! Our Knoxville location should be able to help you. Call or fill out our contact form and we can get an assessment scheduled. crawlspaceninja.com/free-assessment/
Mold is like dirt. Temperature doesn’t make it go away and it’ll still stink.
"It you don't remove the mold that why don't you at least apply disinfectant on the mold."
Dried mold spores is no good. It is a highly toxic material, how toxic depends on the particular fungus. We don't do wooden buildings in Europe, but in the presence of moisture, usually any surface will biofilm. What you really want is lime wash, but dry is a necessity.
You talk about clean, disinfect, and remove as if they are different things, but each could be a combination of at least 2. Disinfect is kill the mold, which should be done first. It could be considered removal of the live mold. This is done in combination with the dehumidifier. Then clean and remove is the removal of the residual mold stain. The dehumidifier continues to remove the moisture during this phase. Well, this is my experience when removing mold myself without a mold remediation company who told me how to do it. They wanted to charge me $2800. So I passed on it and bought my own solutions (mold killer and stain remover) and a dehumidifier.
Thanks for sharing and watching.
