Rise against is one of those bands that has earned the respect of millions. Brilliant writing and instrumentals. They’re an all time favorite.
These days there comment section is filled with idiots saying "You used to be cool but then you went woke!"
Old fans for some insane reason suddenly forgot they were always political and there message I guess. Makes no sense. It's trendy to be right leaning and hate anything woke now I guess.
True. I really disagree with so much of their politics yet I love their music and have a lot of respect for them. I've been listening to them since I was a kid and I will listen to them when I'm bloody retired, they are amazing

@@breakingjosh0 You can argue who needs help and what kind of help as well as how that effects others around them. My country has suffered greatly for helping others on more than 1 occasion, and it includes the current day.
And yes, it is politics, liberal vs conservation, to determine how much pf a helping hand you'd extend to whom and at what moment, if you'd put everyone on equal terms in all cases or sometimes put your own people 1st, etc. They are very liberal, which is what I greatly disagree with, in spite of enjoying their music very much and supporting them as a band.
They're effective storytellers via lyrics. Springsteen is better, but Rise Against! is getting up there with their "staying power" via being a lyrically powerful band

Singing in a lighter, softer tone in rock doesn't necessarily equate to "Putting no emotion into it". It's just creating a contrast for the harsher vocals we're all used to and here for. The emotions he's putting forth are present in every line, from start to finish.

Saw them live a year ago, it was my first concert since the Pandemic and that shit was awesome. They only sang old songs like this and I was the happiest I could have been

Rise Against has always preached in their lyrics. And they practice what they preach. They’ve always stood up for the oppressed, human and otherwise (the whole band is vegan and has worked with PETA in the past). Some people resent them for having a message behind their music. They’re worth diving into in my opinion. Siren Song of the Counterculture is one of my favorite albums of all time.
I somewhat disagree with this. RA has always had a politically charged view, believing that we would all be better off if the government mandated and controlled every aspect of our lives (save for a small stint early on in their records which seemed to show a desire for Anarchy, or lack of government in other words)
They're misguided imho, but they sound fantastic and the lyrics can usually be molded into another situation. Also they're VERY actively supportive of suicide prevention hotlines and organizations, which I LOVE!

Make It Stop (September's Children), People Live Here and Hero of War are also incredibly powerful songs by them.

They absolutely kill it live, I’ve seen them live 3 times and each time is an absolute insane show especially when he brings out the megaphone and screams through it into a mic
Ive only had the pleasure once unfortunately it was at the 930 club in d.c. about 6 months before they really blew up (somewhere around 2003) they werent even the headliner but were by far the best band that night. Also fortunately because they werent as big yet i got a chance to meet them outside the venue later and they just enjoyed talking to fans.
Man what a throwback. These guys were definitely a huge part of what I listed to in my teens. Always loved their stuff, and usually great lyrics and messages in their songs. Excited to see you hear their stuff

I would say there is emotion in the beginning; melancholy.
It can be hard to catch, especially if you've never heard the song before. The mellow, almost sad, opening just gives more punch when he gets passionate, and boarder line angry during the refrain.
I really hope he watches more Rise Against. They’ve been my favorite band for years and I love watching new people get into them

They always talk about this big issues on their lyrics and videos. Songs like this one, Ready To Fall or Re-Education do this and are bangers! Then other like Hero Of War or Make It Stop go even darker

One of the greatest bands ever. Their music holds such strong and important messages. Makes you realize how privileged and lucky one person can be compared to others.
Disparity by Design hits hard in that regard. Same with Make it Stop and Help is on the Way.

saw them when i was 20 back in 2011 broke my ankle from a moshpit with this song in Utah. Would do it all over again, one of the best concerts I've been to.
Forever my top favorite band. They have so many amazing songs. The awareness and stories they speak in their music. Is what makes them amazing. I saw them in april, and omg..... The emotions were raw, the fans, the energy, the music... It was otherworldly.

Rise Against will always hold a special place in my heart. The first CD I bought at 10 yrs old was The Sufferer & The Witness, after watching Ready to Fall on MTV music videos at my grandmas. She took me to buy the album, and passed away not even a year later from cancer. Brings a sad nostalgia for me, but I love that album. This song brilliantly points out the problems of mindless consumerism.

This band is great about the videos displaying all these kinds of messages, Rooftops and Give it All also do an amazing job of getting their messages across
One touch I really loved about the music video is the fact that they showed Nestle crunch in third world countries as Nestle has a history of knowingly using child slavery, especially nestle crunch.

I recommend watching make it stop Septembers children by them. They are my favorite band and I’m proud to say I’ve seen them live 57 times.
Goddamn, haven't heard this song in a hot minute. First song I ever heard by Rise Against and still one of their best. Honestly most of their albums are solid and have atleast one or two hits on them. A couple other amazing ones from them are Savior, Make it Stop (Septembers Children), Swing Life Away, and Tragedy + Time. Almost saw them once quite a few years ago with Linkin Park, unfortunately Chester broke his leg in one of the shows and they had to cancel. Thankfully was still able to see Linkin Park at Pine Knob when they toured with AFI and Thirty Seconds to Mars, before Chester passed. Still the best show I've ever been to and the only other one that comes close was seeing Rihanna and Eminem at Comerica on the Marshall Mathers LP 2 tour.
