Jalil Zandi, the most decorated F-14 pilot in the world, faced imprisonment and was nearly executed after refusing to fly a plane without proper navigation system in dangerous weather conditions. Similarly, Mahmoud Eskandari, one of the top F-4 pilots globally, was almost executed based on false accusations. He participated in H3 mission, 45-degree angeled bombing a stratigic floating bridge, and much more. Tragically, both men died in suspicious 'car accidents' shortly after their conflicts with the government.
As you know me... I lean more towards the land and the sea and not a big fan of the sky... your videos have teach me a lot about what's going on up there... need more of this kind of videos... Keep up the good hard work that you always do...
Incredible video! Zandi was truly a hero, but he wasn't the only one, and his fate wasn't worse than many others. After the revolution, many Iranian pilots were dismissed because they were perceived as being too close to the former regime. They were fortunate not to have been executed. However, when the war officially started, many of these pilots returned, fought, and died-not for the regime, but to defend their invaded country. Zandi was undoubtedly a great pilot, but alongside him were Fereidoun Ali-Mazandarani and Fazlollah Javidnia, other Iranian ace F-14 pilots with many kills, possibly even more than Zandi. As for Babaei, he wasn't necessarily a bad person; rather, he was someone who could adapt to the new era in Iran. I've read many stories about him that describe him as a kind person and a capable commander. Of course, he had his share of mistakes and poor decisions. I believe he was definitely a complex, 'grey' character, but I still respect him because he fought for his country too
As an Iranian, . The issue, in short, is that Mr. Jalil Zandi's superior held a personal grudge against him. At that time, Zandi was ordered to perform a test flight or something similar with an old aircraft, whose name I don't recall. Zandi, unfamiliar with the flight path, requested to have someone accompany him, but his superior refused, and Zandi disobeyed the order. The point is that this incident occurred during the Iran-Iraq war, and according to the laws at the time, disobeying orders during wartime was considered a crime. As a result, Zandi was imprisoned, but after follow-ups by officials of that time, and a direct letter from the then-president, Ayatollah Khamenei, who is now the Supreme Leader, he was released. During the war, he earned many honors and was recognized for his achievements. His imprisonment had nothing to do with this event because he is before the revolution.
I have to mention that one of his kills was Mohammad rayyan, the toppest Iraqi ace with 5 confirmed kills, he was shot down and killed during a battle with Zandi and his tomcat
Wow, I am genuinely rarely ever this captivated by something so random but this video was great and so well thought out and explained. Scratched an itch I didn't even know I had, thanks algorithm and thank you for making this!

much appreciate it. the fact that I served a couple of years with the Iran Air Force, I was looking for videos relevant to Jalil Zandi. However, I couldn't find it as recently as you uploaded this one. Keep it up, buddy. I'm looking forward to the next.
The reason he is not so well known in iran is because he actually was against the islamic regime and if it wasn't for the war he would still be in jail... Tho abas babaei is famous because he was one of the supporters and first Air force personnel that joined Khomeini and the coup there are rumors he didn't even fly f14s but he flew f5s but well the media in islamic iran made a series about his life and he got famous... Very sad.
He wasn't against islamic regime at all. and the start of the war had nothing to do with him being in jail because he was in fact free before the war. he was imprisoned in 1982 on behalf of disobeying the commanders order.

This was truly a great video about Mr. Jalil Zandi one of my country's Ace pilots and a war hero. I would like to thank you for this great video. I and over 85 million Iranians wish from bottom of our hearts that US and secular free democratic IRAN see the day that these two great nations become friends and allies again and there wouldn't be any trace of creatures called "Mullahs" in IRAN or any where else!
thanks for making videos of hero pilots of my country who had to fight against saddam in islamic regime to defend their country while in their heart they were against the regime which took over the country at that time.Another good and similar example was Mahmood Eskandari,a f4 phantom pilot who did incredible missions during the war between iran and iraq and was also imprisoned and accused of spionage.Yadollah sharifi rad was also a f5 pilot having the same destiny.
When the movie TOP GUN and Tom Cruise were sweeping the box office, JALIL ZANDI was up in the sky doing the real deed ❤❤❤❤❤ It has to be noted that after the uprising in Iran, most of the skilled air crew and ground personnel were either executed or had fled the country and there was no endorsement or support from Grumman Inc. When it came to spare parts or repairs and maintenance there was not much to rely on. On top of that some essential equipment of the Tomcats were also sabotaged... Basically operating an advanced interceptor such as F-14 Tomcat at that time in Iran was nothing short of a miracle. Americans were pretty shocked too by what those Iranian pilots did during those eight long years of war in the air...

Thank you for introducing this legend and war hero. I suggest you repeat this for Mahmoud Eskandari, F4 single fighter. Like Jalil, he went to prison despite his pivotal role in the war. It is strange that he was killed in a car accident like a living person. Basically, despite the need for pilots, the regime of mullahs had a grudge against them and considered them loyal to the king. Iranian pilots had reached a high level of skill and skill in flying due to high training, continuous flights and shooting competitions in the kingdom's regime.

Hello brother, I am an Iranian and yes, I confirm that a lot of attention was paid to Shahid Babaei, but Jalil Zandi was never wronged. (as you have shown) but we Iranians were aware of him and knew him. One of the reasons why he was not as well known as Shahid Babaei was that he was not martyred and during the war we Iranians really had many legends and because of The inability of the media, we did not introduce them to ourselves and others. There are many of these unknown legends in my country. He made great progress in the Iranian army. His memory is always alive for us
He fight as patriot for his motherland till thevskies ask him to take his last flight high as possible because it was his time to go to heaven but we remember the suffer and sacrificed by him and every iranians who did in history in order to protect iran they all rest in peace 💔🫡🎖

Thank you for creating such a great video about our war hero Jalil Zandi, I just finished pilot 7 and hopefully will have my hands on his Persian Cat tomorrow. Love to fly with u there. Cheers 🥂
Thanks my friend! Good luck! o7
@@Bob_Dickinson I think it would be amazing if you create a video about Mahmood Eskandari and his flying skills with Phantom 💙☯️
He is not forgotten he is in our hart❤🇮🇷
hats off to Bob here for pronouncing everything on point.
R.I.P Jalil Zandi was geatest pilot in the history of the F-14 Tomcat who shooting down 11 Iraqi aircraft during Iran-Iraq War making him the most successful F-14 pilot. and Col. Fereydoun A. Mazandarani (rtd) is the greatest living ace F-14 Tomcat pilot
Deserves more attention, this was a great video. It makes me wish I grinded harder for the plane
It was a sad ending.. thanks for the information. I hope one day all the world will fight only in War Thunder “ no more fuccking real wars “
thank you for telling the story about our f14 pilot
that last bit about him belonging to the skies was beautiful
There is rumours that, while he was in prison, he offered his family to be kept in prison on his behalf so he can go to war
at 14:54 when he said "God I hate these" I knew this guy is a true War Thunder player" :)
i think mixing war thunder content with history is the smartest idea since most of the wt community like history, btw it will be really nice of you if you continued with these kind of series
ah definitely man! this is gonna be an incredible journey for me to make these videos!
@@Bob_Dickinson good luck with that
Thank you for making such videos and introducing the unknown legends.iran has many unknown legends like him and you can make more videos about them.

@@Zzz-i2b thanks man i appreciate it ❤️🧡
Amazing content bro زنده باد جلیل زندی
thanks bro i really appreciate it!
That was insane bro❤ may god bless martyrs of the war😊
i love this channel so much
Ayy man glad you do so❤❤
@Bob_Dickinson I'm gonna try to get a bigger WT channel to give you a shout-out
@@SHEEPS_123 ah thanks man! I really appreciate it ❤️❤️
