Brock, I’ve done over 1,000 stumps with the old style 1p24. Just 1 of many tricks I’ve learned is to use the 6 o’clock to 3 o’clock part of the wheel as you stand behind it. It will help with that jumping. I might be interested in buying this new unit if it cuts faster with those teeth. I also use a 2038r. I have close to 600 hours on this unit now.
Interesting. I can see the target market, I think? Subcompact and small compact tractors typically have Cat 1 limited 3pt. Lift height of the smaller wheel probably helps? It’s new and interesting, but I’m a swing style stump grinder kinda guy. Cheers from the Bulldog 🍻
You should start from the other side of the stump, so the rotation of the wheel keeps the whole unit pulling down and won't jump. Likewise, you said it was the 1p24 but it looks like it's the 1p14 with a 16" wheel.
You can’t really grind from the other side. All the grinders I’ve used tell you to go from this side. If you went from the other side, it would try to throw the material into the stump that you haven’t grounded yet.
@@nohandleisagoodhandle page 32 of 48 on the woodland mills site for the WG24 provides a great graphic on how these things cut - spot on, always want to uppercut the stump from underneath, not climb on top of it. I've linked to a YT comment before, never seems to take, least never seen one work.
@@nohandleisagoodhandle "When grinding a tree stump, always start from the right side of the stump, moving incrementally to the left, pulling the grinder straight forward through the stump on each pass. "
Good review! I'm impressed by its progress, especially for my needs which are sporadic. I have a 25hp tractor (18hp at PTO) - what is the rating on your tractor? Also, did you have any issues using the Quick Hitch?
Question… just jumped over for pricing and they say for hydrostatic tractors only. Do you know why other than being easier back and forth? With the JD3035 I don’t have hydrostat.
I’m a retired dealer and I use the 3P24 grinder; but with a stick shift tractor, even in 1st low, your engine RPM will be 2300-2700 to get 540 PTO RPM so your ground speed travel would be faster than the grinder can eat. Then your tendency will be to slip the clutch to creep like this. Your clutch disc would be gone in no time.
It’s definitely only meant to cut in One Direction It only has teeth on one side. I accidentally touched the stump wall backing up on one of the passes and it hammered and bounced like crazy. All of the type of grinders are made that way. They go in One Direction.
You are correct. Wish I had a way to correct that. I knew the model number. Just wasn’t saying it right. I might put the correct model number in the video title

Another great, informative video Brock! Thank you.
Great video Brock! Yes I do also appreciate the real time stump grinding videos. Keep em coming brother!
May the lord bless and protect you Brock
Stump grinders are really satisfying to use 👍👍
Looks like a great little grinder!
Enjoyed your video, thanks 😊
Good video Brock. I have a Reist R25 that is similar that I hook up to my 1025R. It works basically the same
Great video Brock. Looks like a perfect fit for my TYM T224
Howdy Brock! Looks like a nice unit. Perfect for that sub-compact market. Thanks for sharing 🤠

on by woodland mills stump grinder it says to start on the other side and cut with the 6 to 9 position. that may help it from jumping so much.
I grinded 14 stumps in one day with that wg24. My neck was pretty sore the next day, good trade off for the cash.

yep hitting from the wrong side

Use a HD non wifi baby monitor. Mount camera in back. Put display on your dash. No more looking back.

Wow Brock you look great! How much have you lost ?
90 pounds

I’m confident it’s because of speed control. You just want precise control of your travel and you have to go really slow.
@ Thank you
The 3point articulated grinders would work for you.
@ Appreciate that!

What made you think it would only cut while the tractor went forward? took twice as long.
he said the cutting wheel is at an angle, maybe it's recommended to only cut 1 direction?
It’s definitely only meant to cut in One Direction

These grinders are only meant to cut going forward. That's just how they're designed. From the BL 1P14 manual: "always cut moving forward."
Isn’t this smaller than the 1p24??? Looks like a 1p14. You said 1p24 multiple times.
You are correct. Wish I had a way to correct that.

@@RockhillfarmYTyes. Frustrating isn’t it!!
