  • Vinyl Fetish 30 - Randy and Andi give 70s superstars Little Feet a listen for the first time, spinning Waiting For Columbus (1978). Randy thinks it sounds like a jammy version of The Band and the songs were better when Linda Ronstadt sang them. Andi, well you'll have to watch.
But, of course, she does reference The Eagles. • Vinyl Fetish Club - Wh...

'With all the technology in a studio vs (a group that is said to be) better live' ..... hmmm that says a lot. You go ahead and enjoy autotune and track mixes vs performance art. Plastic vs art. Narrow and dim - enjoy what life you want. Too bad you're missing the feels and enrichments. This is a musician's band, they are respected in the industry. #1 favorite of well respected peers from Stones to Led Zepplin. This is a classic case of dumb and dim.

Wow what a strange review....It always amazes me how some folks just don't know great singing/song writing when they hear it; especially when it's funky! Lowell George was one of the best singer/songwriters from that era and these guys were considered the best american rock band by many famous artists at the time. Using the word "jammy" to describe this album doesnt really compute to be honest

Lead guitarist, singer, Lowell George played with Frank Zappa. Took the song Willin' to Frank after writing it. Frank told him it was time for him to get his own band. Little Feat was the result.

You guys should find a room and leave reviews to someone that actually listens to the music and understands what the band was doing. One stop here and I'm done.

You look at an album cover and decide you don't like a band you've never heard. That;s great. You lost me when you said you didn't understand the Grateful Dead. I have seen Little Feat about six times, twice while Lowell George was above ground. This is one of the tightest bands in history and they rank right up there with the Doobie Brothers, Allman Brothers, and the Eagles. You talked for more than 14 minutes and didn't play a single song from the album. Too bad. If you're going to review records, it might help to at least play them. that way your comments about them have some validity.

If you put no value on the pure musicianship that went into this album, nothing that is going to be said here is going to change that. It'sfine that you didn't care for it, but if you are trying to be reactors, then you have to actually react, which you didn't. If you are trying to be reviewers, then you need to make some better arguments than you made here. The fact that your critiques were the same as they were when you looked at an album cover make me question whether you even listened to it (wait? It had 4 sides?). Good luck with your channel, but if you expect to grow, you're going to have to do way better than this.

I was a college student when these guys were popular. I didn’t care about them at all. It wasnt until fifteen years later (early 80s) that I first heard Feats Don’t Fail Me Now that I “started” to enjoy them. It wasn’t until You Tube and I could see old concert videos that I could see how great they were. Watch this: ua-cam.com/video/JzqxxGpSlc8/v-deo.html. These guys are incredible musicians. Lowell George is a great song writer. Listen to this: ua-cam.com/video/bCROkG4SKao/v-deo.html. Watch this too: ua-cam.com/video/7Zh5oMJo3co/v-deo.html.
These guys were great in studio and great live. Even comparing their musicianship in studio vs. live gives an idea of their talent. Jam band? Sure. But a lot more than that. Consummate musicians.

I do respect that you didn't like this album. I have no interest in making you like it, because I don't care if you do or don't. But I have some questions.

You claim that the music is "super jammy". I wonder if you could elaborate on that? I find much of this album to be very tight with some solos, but not more than you should expect on a rock concert. Or should they play as close to the studio versions as possible? I'm a bit confused, since you don't go into what you mean about "super jammy" and what you would rather hear.
When I buy a live album, I want to feel that I am there and that they are playing live. Not something close to playback or singback. Let artist like Britney Spears do that kind of things!
Little Feat were known to be better live than in studio. Their studio albums could be a bit "dry".
And how is it a "disqualification" that they are in their 30s and not in their 20s? Trying to impress each other? They are very skilled musicians. Is that a minus? What they do isn't overly complicated, but they are extremely tight and are performing as one unit.
And commenting on their clothes is a bit strange imo.

    • @jondeur2686
      @jondeur2686 3 роки тому +2

I agree with you that they might be better live but only because they were so sensational live. Their songwriting ability comes across in studio albums. They were great on those studio albums. I actually learned to love them thru feats don't fail me now album. When I first heard Waiting for Columbus I wasn't all that impressed. But then when I got to see them perform live on UA-cam everything changed. They should be in anyone's top ten. No rockstar posing from them. Just straight up great musicians performing great songs

LOL folks, great vid. I do hear you on Little Feet. Never could get into them. That said, you may dig Lowell George's solo LP "thanks, I'll eat it here". Kind of a mixture of muscle Shoals blues funk with southern rock tinges. Maybe a little yacht rock thrown in for good measure. Less jam band style. Worth checking out. Personally, I tend to really gravitate to what's happening in the moment musically. I'm constantly being moved by the current cutting-edge. But, you know, as an old guy, I also dig stuff from my past. It has a resonance. Good on you both for diving in to something new (albeit old) with an open mind. I always believe it's not the music that's "good or bad" it simply whether or not it moves me. Speaks to me. And that's definitely an ever shifting target :-). Things I didn't get in the past, I definitely get now. Oh, and certainly check out a playlist I put together of some great stuff from 2018. You know, if you're interested in some stuff that's happening now :-). Peace

You like Rush? Most pretentious band ever. Good musicians in search of a song. I’d listen to them and they’d play a great intro leading up to...another intro....and then more intro. Never heard of beginning, middle, end. Springsteen? Some good songs. But also kinda pretentious. I used to call it hero rock. “I lived life at the edge. That’s why I rock so hard. Watch this. This is how I rock cuz I’m a hard rocker.”

I am a big LF fan but Waiting for Columbus is not a good record. The studio albums with Lowell George are all great. It’s not a generational thing. I like music from about 1300 onwards of all types. Tonight for example l listened to Thomas Tallis, Miles Davis and Wet Leg. This l find this offhand and lazy.
