    I am Egyptian and a big fan of Omar Sharif ,,since the middle of the 1990's -or maybe before that he came back to Egypt and made many Egyptian films and a TVdrama ,,he missed Egypt very much and wanted to spend the of his life in it , on many Iinterviews he stressed how he never favoured that life of glamour and felt like a foreigner to it always talking about being an average Egyptian guy who loved his friends here since the 1950's , visiting his school here , supporting his favourite Egyptian football team and loving Egyptian food ,,even when asked about international beautiful women who used to admire him ,he said he used to flirt but never loved except his Egyptian divorcee the Lady of the Arabic screen Faten Hamamma ..He was a very Egyptian guy inside with very Egyptian taste who wanted to spend the rest of his life in his homeland and buried in it .He was a very educated man,fluent in Arabic ,French ,English ,and Italian ,he also held a university degree from Cairo University in Physics & Maths,, and a degree in drama from England .R.I.P Omar ♥

    He was an amazing actor and incredible in Dr. Zhivago. So sad he had Alzheimer's. Both my parents had it and neither of them ever became aggressive. It wasn't surprising with my dad because he was the calmest most gentle person and never even raised his voice. Now what's really surprising is my mom. She was a very aggressive person always yelling who had a lot of hatred and bitterness in her. Alzheimer's took it all away. Even though it was difficult to watch her lose her memory and her health failing it was a joy to see her laughter. In her last years I got to enjoy a beautiful side of her that I rarely ever witnessed.

    • @mariag5306
      @mariag5306 2 роки тому +3

      @@monichat very true. They generalize too much with this disease. Instead of causing fear they should be educating loved ones how to make the person's life better and safer. I think some become aggressive because they're afraid. They recognize nothing and no one around them as they further regress into their childhood state. Who wouldn't be afraid. None of this was taught to our family for either of my parents. I did research on my own to learn what really happens to the mind of one who suffers from this.

    • @monichat
      @monichat 2 роки тому +4

      @@mariag5306 As you mention, they do regress into their childhood. My husband did not remember what he ate for lunch but did talk about his childhood, his dog, his horse. It was a pleasure to listen to him. I agree with your comment 100%.

    • @mariag5306
      @mariag5306 2 роки тому +3

      @@monichat thank you. For both my parents I collected as many fotos I could from their childhood which was very difficult to do. They grew up in Europe during WWII. I made a collage of the fotos so that when they felt lost and alone at least they saw something that they recognized. I was lucky to get a foto of my dad's childhood home. I loved listening to their stories no matter how often they repeated them. Patience is crucial especially when they ask the same questions over and over. My sister had no patience with my mother and got angry with her. I got fed up one day and said to her, one day soon she won't be asking you anything anymore. That day came a lot sooner than we expected because she was gone in 2 months after suffering 3 strokes. We never know how long we have with loved ones. I hope that you are doing well. Sending you hugs and prayers❤🙏

Same for your parents.

    Sharif gave hope to people of Middle East of possibility of (Western) success in 20th century. Whether that be a good thing or bad?The good/bad question plagued him most of his life, he was a very ethical man, trying to stay proud of his country and origins all the while living in wealth and western fame, and his people in Egypt going through many struggles . Rich and successful? It might not have been as easy as you may think.😉

    My favourites are The Tamarind Seed and McKenna's Gold, he also had a cameo in a Pink Panther film as an Egyptian spy/hitman one of many sent to kill Inspector Cluseau in order to stop the insane Dreyfuss (?) destroying the world

Quelle della mia età siamo state tutte innamorate di Lui....

    I met Omar Sharif in April of 2015 in the hotel we stayed at in El Gouna. He was always very nice to me and always smiled towards me when he saw me and my husband. But I did see him become very angry to some couple. But I still think he had every right to be. That lady sat down next to him, put her arm around him, while her guy took some pictures. A d that all without talking to him. If it would have been me, I would have reacted te same way.
