Showing that, with a small amount of infrastructure work, the link between Aylesbury and the EWR/Varsity Line COULD be reinstated at a reasonable cost. Sadly, plans for that have been scrapped for now, but I hear the MP for Aylesbury IS still pushing hard for it to happen eventually.
The comedy/spy film."Otley" (1968) has some location footage of Quainton Road in which the dilapidated disused station buildings still carry line/station closure notices.
Historic footage of this last tracked vestige of the Great Central north of Quainton, and the wartime chord linking to the varsity line. Sad that the GC closed but it is now the site of massive civil engineering to reinstate some lines and build HS2.
Thinking in how much road traffic from the A418 and A4146 could be reduced with an Aylesbury-Bletchley/Bedford . The East West should keep in mind all these connections. Closing the Varsity line with Milton Keynes designated as a new city was one of the most short sighted Beeching cuts ever.
@Oscar Garcia The Beeching Report was not responsible for the closure of the Varsity line. The report actually recommended it stay open. In the current East West rail project there is a forward plan to re-establish the double track between Aylesbury and East West Rail, with a service from Milton Keynes and Bletchley to Aylesbury and London.
I dont understand the penchant for this being at such a fast rate - slowing it to 0.25 sort of plays something nearer normal speed. Would have been a nice film had it just been played at normal speed.
@@MrTimDunn I understand the creative decision is yours alone but it's a shame when there are tools to watch the video sped-up if desired. While I'm thankful for you filming it, I have to admit I stopped watching after about a minute.
@@paulplayspoorly I agree. There are features along the route that I would like to see properly. The long pauses while waiting for tokens and changing ends could be edited out but I much prefer to watch the actual journey in real time.
Shame! This could have been most enjoyable to watch. What on earth made you decide to speed it up? I began to feel a bit queasy trying to keep up, and stopped watching within one minute. Please show at normal speed.
@@ChilternRailPhotography i think he is talking about Aylesbury - Calvert but its first at Claydon N&E junction to biecester village we go on the east west rail route
Thanks for putting this up. I was the duty Signaller at Claydon, that's me in the silly hat!
Fantastic that this will be back in use for mainline services (relitively) soon!
The Track from Quainton Road to Calvert has since been lifted. No idea if there is a plan to put it back in the long term.
I think so hs2
Can be seen at roughly normal speed by changing the UA-cam playing-settings to show '0.25' of normal speed.

Really good video. And nice to see Quainton Road.
This line should have been fully rebuilt for express services like it was years ago INSTEAD OF MEGA EXPENSIVE USELESS HST2 !!!
When the east west line between Bicester and Bletchley this should be half the time providing the train is top and tailed,to reverse at Claydon.

Captions disappear before they can be tread...
That was AMAZING
Quainton Road has also featured in at least one #MidsomerMurders episode; the title escapes me at the moment.
What is the line north of Calvert normally used for ? The route to Bletchley is closed, isn't it, even for freight.
Watched a video about the old part of a line which went from Bicester to Bletchley is there any plans to reopen that.
Google East West Rail.

ye Varsity line should've stayed open. atleast close some of the stations

Line from Quainton road to Clavert now all gone
What is the point of speeding it up? Ridiculous!
Didn't bother me - you can pause or slow it down if you want.
Hey Tim, is it possible for you to send the original video to me without it being altered? I need this for a TS Project
how's the TS project doing scout man?
@@ChilternRailPhotography was cancelled years ago but had track work laid up to Quinton Road with some custom assets completed
@@ScoutZz ah cool do you think you’ll ever un-cancel it?
@@ChilternRailPhotography No, unless someone else redoes the route
@@ScoutZzif possible could you send me the route and assets and stuff as I’d love to try and re-create it myself
The person at that level crossing at like 3:18 must have said "what?!"
At the end I thought it was going to hit the buffers!
The remains of the good old Metro line :(
lucky you, also when are you back on TV
Ha, I was on a few programmes recently. A few more this year coming up!
Would of been better at normal speed just a waste of a good video at that speec
I prefer to do them high-speed!

Freight and Tim Dunn only
Sadly all destroyed now for hs2 and east west rail

How about now he likes it at this speed tuff get over it
why do u think? because then the vid will be over an hour long
This Line reopen HST2
1. Its not HST2 (High speed train 2) Its HS2 (High speed 2)
and
2. It will be used for east west rail. Not HS2
