Chewjitsu seriously man make some with the teeth printed on there with the front one chipped lol I’d buy one and I haven’t even started BJJ but I’m a wrestler
If you fix your tooth I'm gonna follow you for days, find out what your favourite food is, and then one day you're gonna walk outside your front door and see that specific food item sitting on your doorstep. You'll bite into it, but you realize too late that it's actually a brick painted like your favourite food, and now instead of having one messed up tooth, you'll have no teeth at all
Bro, your videos are awesome... you have that "UA-cam voice" like you're talking as a news caster, but then you say a lot of real and informative things. You Rock!
The best laugh about jiujitsu I've ever had was in a book called "Jiujitsu on the brain" where the author said, "Wear a mouth guard.... unless you want your mouth to look like a game of tetris." It's all good Chewy, keep droppin' that knowledge, we don't care what your teeth look like.
I'm really enjoying the variety you've been throwing out here as of late Chewy, loving these vlog type videos which allows you to showcase even more of your great personality and get to know you bro. I'm diggin it alot! Thanks so much for all you do.
Thanks for mentioning something about cutting weight. I'm a 42 years old Purple belt. Training out of Gracie Barra in Chino California. One of my sons is 13 years old. Were both going to compete on October 5th in the Gracie Barra world Summit 2019 competition. I'm currently 208 pounds. I wasn't sure if I should stick to the this weight or try to cut down to 195. I used to compete a lot when I 1st started training and actually did well, placed in all except 1. I used to weigh about 270+. The last time I competed I weighed in at 165. I felt a little faster. But I noticed I was lacking in strength. So, I think sticking to this weight I would feel a little more comfortable, stronger and can concentrate more on training and less on cutting. Anyway, what you said reminded me of my past mistakes and the way I would push myself. So thank you, I appreciate your advice.
I agree with you on the leaving MMA part, I am a former professional MMA fighter (3 pro fights) and I left it to start Gi BJJ. My heart wasn't in it and I always loved grappling. Now after a year and half I am a purple belt and compete regularly. I am so happy I made the move and my quality of life is much better training Gi then getting punched in the face everyday. Thanks for the great videos!!
You're awesome and I love watching your videos. They have helped me get through many struggles of being a white belt. I have a funny observation.. your manurisims remind me of a BJJ Elliot Hulse.
Just be yourself chewy, everybody has flaws, no matter how big, or small they may be, my teeth are in pretty bad, and it doesn’t matter to me and neither the people I care about, and. That’s all that matters. You’re doing an amazing thing here man, I’ve been in a really bad place in my life, I’ve always been interested in mma and fighting, then my life went down a really bad path for a long time, drugs, crime, violent, terrible things, and recently lost custody of my only son, but I’ve been watching you’re videos and it’s gotten me to want to start putting my life in order, and even to get back into mma, more exclusively, BJJ, I feel like it will give me some structure in my life, something that I also happen to love, I don’t make very much and the only legitimate Bjj class I could find was around an hour long drive, because there’s only like “ninja academy’s” and other fake mma around my area, I’d just like to ask if you have any words of wisdom for me, like, do you think it would be worth it?
I had the exact same chipped tooth! I was a competitive freestyle skiier and on a training day a friend and I were skiing the cliffs off Fraggle Rock at Blackcomb. I dropped 20+ feet right into a well-hidden bomb hole, dead stop, chin into my knee, pulverized my tooth and made a hell of a bloody mess. By the time I skiied myself to the First Aid hut my nice new team jacket was DRENCHED red with blood. Shitty shitty day.
I'm a DMD, MD facial surgeon. If you're seeing your dentist regularly and your chipped tooth doesn't have any sharp edges that cut your tongue or lip and the chip is not getting worse, "knock yourself out", do what ever feels good to you :-) I have a front tooth that was hit when I wrestled back in the day that eventually needed a root canal, but it's still hanging in there. Best to you!
RIP BUDDY BRENT I’m really new to bjj I’ve only gone to like 2 classes so far and Watching your videos have really helped me make up my mind on training in jiu jitsu
Keep the tooth, it’s character an a great story👍 Thanks for the videos, as a white belt you’ve answered a bunch of questions for me that have improved my roll.
I'm glad you said your age at the end because every time you say something that reveals your age, I totally relate to it. So I was curious how close in age we are.
Chewy the Snaggle-Toothed Neck Snapper! Confident Black Belt Grappler at High Level Tournament: "Who I got next, coach?!" Coach lowers his eyes and his voice: "Chewy, the snaggle-toothed neck snapper!" Black Belt Grappler: "Dear God, no!"

I know I'm super late to this. But I try to never judge people on their looks because usually people have their own amazing backgrounds and struggles. If you still care at all, my mom has a cap for her chipped tooth in the same place. She had a spill on a bike when she was younger. I say all this to say, as she has gotten older, that tooth's health has declined (not rotting or anything) and it has become more and more sensitive. The cap has helped resist nerve damage and decay, and it would cause her so much more pain without it. It finally broke off after a few decades and she was in so much pain for the 2 days it took to meet with the dentist. As a future health thing, you might consider having it capped again? Although being active in BJJ you've got a lot more chances to just break it off and possibly make it worse, so I can understand that. It's not causing you any discomfort and you don't feel self-conscious about it, so nothing really needs to change. You've been very helpful while I begin BJJ and I wish the best for you!
I also quit muay thai for the same reason, I just can't justify going home with a nagging headache everytime I fight or spar. Found grappling and fell in love with it
Don't fix it. You gotta love training with a teacher who can laugh at him/her self and not take offense even when it may be given as one. I love your videos.
for the first month i watched chewies videos i was in the car and didn’t physically watch them i just listened ,so when i went to tell my friend about how much i liked the videos and showed him, it was the first time that i had seen your fucked up tooth and after like 15 seconds of him not saying anything he just goes i can’t hear anything he’s saying over that tooth and i had to agree lol, i got used to it tho and now you shouldn’t change it. Love the videos man
I never even thought of MMA, competing in Muay Thai was my drug of choice overseas until one day I was like 🤔 this stuff hurts pretty bad then I traded in my gloves for a gi. To the up and comers, trust you gon get old😂 BJJ is a great transition/continuation art.
Captain America? Dude you look like a bankrupt Dan Bilzerian without health care. Lol jk dude, you're a humble guy and I love your videos. Don't get it fixed because it's part of your brand. Take is easy boss.
Both my front teeth are chipped, and they happened on separate occasions! I was a kid when that happened but it’s so weird because nobody really notices... I actually often get complimented on my smile!
The chipped tooth is no big deal and I agree with ya, I wouldn't want to be rolling with annoying MOUTHGUARD forever. It's part of your brand and cool. Keep doing you. OSS !
Dear Chewie, please get Your tooth fixed, there are so many reasons to do so: Of course it might become part of Your "brand" to have a chipped tooth, on the other hand fixing it and having a healthy smile is a sign of caring about Your own body. The same way You train in order to improve your overall fitness and health, because it's an easy and fun thing to do, you should get your tooth fixed for the sake of (literally) keeping up your good shape. Interesting. Even at 51 I love fighting and miss it...and still not a fan of the Gi 20 years later. Being a great grappler, but not being able to get past punches and get the takedown...ugh. Not talking about you, Big Guy, but when I came up a purple belt was a killer. Nowadays the “same” purple belt has zero self defense. Sad.
My teeth are all chipped up from dumb shit when I was young. Used to be Self-conscious about it. Not now but it’s cool to see you saying what I wished I’d learned when I was younger. Lol.
Gap in your smile is so big, I don't know if I should smile back or kick a field goal. Lol. I also happen to have a chip on the same tooth you do. I had to wait a weekend to get it fixed and the boys on my brother's baseball team kept telling me that joke. Looking back, it's hilarious. I did get a partial permanent cap put on mine as the root was exposed. It's made for some very interesting jiu-jitsu moments all because I'm always looking out for my mouth. Leave your teeth, it's a hassle to keep up with the cover ups, especially if you're a coffee drinker like I am. Thanks for the fun video!
Your tooth could be fixed with a full jacket porcelain crown(not a veneer). That would allow you to not need to wear a guard that is supposed to protect a "Filling" from chipping again which is common for Anterior Incisal restored tooth. The crown would be the best long time solution that would secure your tooths appearance for the future.
Chewie- I’m a dentist and I did wonder why you never had the tooth fixed. I wouldn’t make fun of you though because you seem like way too much of an awesome genuine guy who really cares about his students and even the people you’ve never met who watch your videos. For the record, though, if you fixed your tooth you could get a custom made mouth guard from just about any dentist, clear or in your favorite colors, and it would fit so well you could talk and drink with it, and breath well too. Not very bulky at all. That’s what I wear when I spar. I’d make you one if you were ever out towards Western North Carolina. Only thumbs up from me !
With that razor tooth you never have issues severing a loose gi thread or ripping open a bag of cereal, and it’s always ready for a knife fight! Fellow KY guy, btw. :)
It’s funny. I was a very competitive bowler (qualified for the Jr Olympic team in 2002). One of the guys I bowled with was called “Rhino”. He’s a pro bowler now, still under than name. His real name is Ryan, but he won’t answer either because he’s so used to “Rhino”! 😁👍
@@daveyponderosa9549 im so happy you actually know the name XD i saw this comment n i was like please tell me some one knows the actual name of drago 😂
Always love your videos! Been watching you since the beginning on my personal account and inspired me to start documenting and sharing my jits with people as well! Oss! P.s. Tooth chips are the first step to a grill :P
Get the chipped tooth bonded. It doesn't cost more than a filling and looks perfect. Dentist prefers caps because more expensive but bonding holds fine.
In regards to your tooth, similarly I have a bump on my head (runs in the family). People ask about it and I say: “yeah I was in a motorcycle crash and they had to bolt my head back together.” Motorcycle crashes seem to be cool.
Question here. You talked about the semi loss of vision you had, or the blue spot. I have gotten the same spot a few times after MMA class (sometimes after a hard BJJ class). Not sure if this means I should stop training? or fighting? Or just have it checked out (again)? Any advice would be helpfull?
Last year at school, a kid threw a small bit of solid timber at the ceiling fan, and it flung and broke my front tooth in half. It exposed the nerve and took a while to fix and now it looks normalish. Now I wish I left it chipped so I could be like the one and only CHEEEEWWWWWWIIIIEEEEEE
Yep I have one chip , and one on the rear side broke off. Both came from mma/ wrestling etc. Wear A Mouthguard.. If it don’t bother you I wouldn’t worry about it. I too have had it repaired only re- damaged from grappling...👍
Hey...I'm a 45 year old guy... finally getting my first BBJ lesson next week.. thanks for giving me the inspiration to finally act on something I wanted to do for a couple of years now... BTW check out the podcast hardcore history, with Dan Carlin.. I think you will love it... Great angels and narration...
Ah same outlook preferring the safety and extra tool exploration of grappling, since doing the stand strike class session fallen blacked out concuss not knowing what strike happen later mentioning as a _"swift power house round kick in head"_ and next time doesn't make any differ getting black eyed even after mentioning to go light and repercussions of dizzy bike ride home & less responsive chat to neighbour as its *"Brain-Trauma"* worrisome as the worst of all being not worth sacrificing losing your mind over it - into never being the same again as -"over flown the cuckoo's nest"- so to speak (+) my utmost hobby is mind sports into *"Speed-Reading & Memorizing-Feats"* Therefore if I'm doing strike/MMA only to do the technical training without sparring just to make that fight awareness, means that I only fully spar within grappling arts as spoken for in agreement.
I know this is an old vid but the teeth fit the nickname. They are part of your whole youtube persona. No way get it fixed. Also concerning quitting mma, I totally get it. I used to box when I was in my late teens into my late 20s. I am pretty short 5' 7", very stocky/muscular and at the time fought at 150 at like 4% bf, walked around 170ish so I was pretty huge for the weight class. Needless to say I fought a lot on the inside and relied a lot on my power to smash people with body shots, get their hands down and then go upstairs. I loved it but I got hit quite a bit and started getting headaches after about 5 years. Ended up quitting because it scared the shit out of me. I have been thinking of trying a jiu jitsu class the last few years because I miss training, fighting and all that goes with it so much. Anyway, I know how it feels getting damage from strikes, it's really scary.
chipped mine in high school on the bus back from a football game. went down to my seat, high fiving everyone and then kinda fell back and turned into my seat, hit my face on the luggage shelf. never got it fixed either.
Not a green screen, huh? That's what he wants us to think. Him standing far away, the stuff he did with the frizbies, his beard, all green screen. The government, man!
I fell on my face when I was 2 so my right front tooth was black. When my new tooth started growing in around 8 or 9 I had to have the dead tooth removed. I was in a hot tub about 2 weeks after my new tooth was fully developed and my head was dunked under the water, but I hit my new tooth on the tub. I have had a chipped front tooth ever since. I have only had a good front tooth for about 2 weeks of my life. I chipped the tooth next to that tooth about 2 years later. I would never cap them.
"The day was raw; snow was falling; the troops had not yet eaten their morning meal; yet, though they had been under arms for several hours, he pushed them across the fords of the Trebia, with the water breast-high and icy-cold. Arrived on the farther side, the Roman soldiers were so chilled that they could scarcely hold their weapons. Hannibal was ready to receive them. His men had eaten, rubbed themselves with oil before their camp-fires, and prepared their weapons."

I'm definitely a coffee drinker. Thanks for the comment and sharing Josie.
Can you Whistle out that thing? Lol love your Chanel! Just waiting for those grey gi pre order
You’re really good at green screen effects for a BJJ UA-camr
. . . .
Bob marley is one of the greatest. I know your an awsome dude because only the coolest and caring people appreciate that kind of music 💪💪💪
I like how his top teeth fit into his bottom teeth like a puzzle
Man, Chewy.... I for the longest time I was wondering where you were located..... Then you smiled and I knew. LOL. j/k. You rock man!!
It's okay man, I had my 2 front teeth knocked out during a wrestling match in HS, but I couldn't resist the invite to roast ya!! :)
It’s funny. I was a very competitive bowler (qualified for the Jr Olympic team in 2002). One of the guys I bowled with was called “Rhino”. He’s a pro bowler now, still under than name. His real name is Ryan, but he won’t answer either because he’s so used to “Rhino”! 😁👍
My gym calls me the russian because I look like the russian from rocky 4. I dont even think most of them know my real name😂
Panda
Hahahaha
That's hilarious buddy.
In high school they called me Drago or The Russian as well.
😝
@@daveyponderosa9549 im so happy you actually know the name XD i saw this comment n i was like please tell me some one knows the actual name of drago 😂
Rodney powell
Dolph Lundgren AKA Ivan Drago!!
🤣👍
I THINK HE'S BEAUTIFUL
Always love your videos! Been watching you since the beginning on my personal account and inspired me to start documenting and sharing my jits with people as well! Oss!
P.s. Tooth chips are the first step to a grill :P
Glad the videos have helped! Appreciate the message.
Get the chipped tooth bonded. It doesn't cost more than a filling and looks perfect. Dentist prefers caps because more expensive but bonding holds fine.
In regards to your tooth, similarly I have a bump on my head (runs in the family). People ask about it and I say: “yeah I was in a motorcycle crash and they had to bolt my head back together.” Motorcycle crashes seem to be cool.
you're in combat sports, the tooth gives you cred... just don't tell them the real reason :P
I stopped fighting for the SAME EXACT reason. I realized that I LOVE Grappling too much.
Bro I love his videos, but damm!!! I study dentistry and looking at your chipped teeth I CAN´T!! (Not a hate comment tho I really love this guy)
Not sure if someone commented this already but chipping it because you were shutting down Little Foot makes you a bonified Sharp Tooth! 🦖
Keep it real brother.. your a warrior, warriors don't care about appearance
nah man it gives you character. makes you look like a badass.
Ur chipped tooth is a part of you now! Keep it!
Looks cool and adds character to your channel bro
Doingit4Jesus Wearing a green shirt proves it also.
make a rash guard!! I'd rock it
Adam J same!!!!!!!!
Anyone else rock rash guards on bikes in place of a cycling shirt?
thats interesting about the music, now i know why my instructor plays country music during open mat
I didn’t even notice your chipped tooth, and now I can’t stop seeing it.
Love your videos and sense of humor bro. ha. Oss!
Thanks Greg! Glad you enjoy it. :)
Hahaha i love the way you point out that there is a Ambulance coming by
Cool vid, bro. Good entertainment! Well done.
