Here's a couple of tips for beginners: 1. Put the playback speed at 0.5 to start, when you get comfortable move up to 0.75, then after playing that for a while set it to normal. 2. At first having the sound distracted me from being able to play, even though its not fun, if you need to get the hang of it play the video on mute and play along with the notes until your comfortable. 3. Use the strumming pattern d-du-udu. 4. If need be click the link in the description of this video if you need a lot more help with playing this than my comment can give you. Good luck!
Thank you! I hoped I had gotten the tips right and they would actually help other people! This video was very helpful, I will continue to use it and your other tutorials until I have it mastered.
Glad you enjoyed it. There should be a tutorial linked in the description if you can't figure out a pattern you want to use; there's also a rather long post about why I don't use strumming patterns on these videos in the community area of this forum.
I think reading sheet music is incredibly valuable...that said, much of music on the popular side of things (vs. classical) doesn't really need "sheet music" to be performed or learned. Again...as a music teacher, the ability to read music is very, very good...but you can start making music--legitimate, actual music--as you learn to read.
They aren't too expensive...take a look at Enya's models such as the KUC-20 or the X1M which are on Amazon, around $50 for all you need to start playing--and a reliable instrument, too.
You are very welcome. Please note there is a tutorial on the sister channel to this channel--and the Ukulele Teacher also made a tutorial for this video.
That's the island strum, and it is what I suggest in the tutorial video with a little tweaks in the second D (see the tutorial video on the sister channel to this one...link in the description as well as in the card that plays at :04 in on the video).
Please note the link in the description of the video as well as the link the cards to a tutorial video where I show how to play the chords and suggested strumming. If you look in the description of that other video, there are time stamps to take you where you need to go (e.g. you only want to look at strumming). Is there a better way that I can communicate that I'm making these resources available?
I give some suggestions on the tutorial video (video linked in the description, including picking, and then the island strum as a suggestion (D DU UDU), and then adding the rasqueado strum to that pattern. Ultimately, there is no "right" answer, and what is important is what is right to you!
If you're not going to play the tab melody, yes. I simplify the strumming pattern in the play along tutorial. (ua-cam.com/video/-ADxekOsPqA/v-deo.html)
I'm glad you asked. Since last summer I have made tutorial videos (link appears in the video descriptions) for all the new songs. Quick answer: there is no "right" answer as long as it works. But to see how I play it, go to: ua-cam.com/video/-ADxekOsPqA/v-deo.html
In the tutorial video (ua-cam.com/video/-ADxekOsPqA/v-deo.html), I suggest the island strum with a rasqueado strum on the second downbeat. If you visit the video, there's a link to the strumming section in the video description.
See the tutorial...listed in the comments and also accessible via the cards on the video. In the comments on the tutorial, you can jump right to the strumming at the correct time (there’s a link). I have been adding chord and strumming information for all the videos I have made for the last month or so through a separate tutorial video, leaving the play along to just have the information you need to play it-and also giving the player the choice of what strumming pattern they want to use.
That absolutely works, too. I’ve also seen people use different chords, too. Check out the video by the Ukulele Teacher for another “take” on the chords.

Or check out the tutorial which is linked in the card on the video and can also be found in the video description.

Maya 2210 it’s different
Thank u so much
for me I prefer the strumming pattern is "DDUUDU"
if anyone don't know the strumming pattern is D tap U U tap U
but if that's to hard I use DDUUDU
hope this helps!! 🌸🌈✌️
Thanks for helping others.
Cool now I need to know how to read sheet music and everything because I already have a ukulele💁🏼♀️💁🏼♀️👍🏻😻

My pleasure!

This one is so lovely to play : )
Thanks!
Totally agree!!!
When playing the cord Cmaj7, The cord C also sounds good
Yes...but the C7 is at least easy to throw in!
Yes! I also use C because store me it sound BETTER
@@ukeplayalongs that sounds mean just saying
@BLAKE'O What sounds mean?
I used dduudu fro my strumming
That's the island strum, and it is what I suggest in the tutorial video with a little tweaks in the second D (see the tutorial video on the sister channel to this one...link in the description as well as in the card that plays at :04 in on the video).

DDUUDU
I just do one strum and stop the chords twice fore each note like Am Down Stop Down Stop Am Down Stop Down Stop and só on
i’m allergic to cats thanks u were helpful 😁😊😊
Madison Whitehead its down mute up up mute up up mute up up mute
Bravo senorita
Amazing! but is there waving flag??
Yes, a search for Waving Flag Ukulele Play Along on this channel or on UA-cam should easily find it.
Thank you
Thanks
You are welcome!
I like to use D tap U, U tap U instead of DDU UDU. So it looks like D-U U-U.
This is why I don't post strumming patterns with the video very often--everyone has a pattern that they prefer to use!
I really love all your uke videos. But it's really hard for me to learn the strumming part😢 Guess I need more time.
New videos have a linked tutorial in the description, not all the old ones do.
Me gustó mucho jugar con el rasgueo de la canción jajaa
Thanks for watching the videos!
Great video!! Thank you
You are very welcome!
Can we use G6 in place of Em. .....as a beginner....the transition from F to Em is tough
You can do whatever works for you, but I suggest continuing to work on F to Em....it’s good practice for the fingers.
Sensacional!!!
Qual é a batida do ukulele ??
I made a tutorial for this one, which you can find linked in the description,
for me.. the strumming pattern sounds kinda off when you do DDU UDU and so i did DDU tap DU.. it sounds a bit better in my opinion. :P
I give some suggestions on the tutorial video (video linked in the description, including picking, and then the island strum as a suggestion (D DU UDU), and then adding the rasqueado strum to that pattern.

Omg that is great btw use dduudu
I agree; see the strumming part of the tutorial for an added trick to the island strum (DDUUDU)
Thx i was wondering about strum pattern lol

for the intro , is it the same strumming pattern?
If you're not going to play the tab melody, yes. I simplify the strumming pattern in the play along tutorial. (ua-cam.com/video/-ADxekOsPqA/v-deo.html)
I used the pattern D-mute-U-U-mute-U
Strum pattern?!
See the tutorial...listed in the comments and also accessible via the cards on the video.
I use duxduxd (x is tap)
Thanks for the strumming suggestion!
Thanks! It really helped

I was just confused by the comment. I won't question it further.

How come you say its "clean" when you have all the lyrics? But thank you for the thing.
There are a few things edited out.
@@ukeplayalongs oh well i didnt notice lol
This is a great video for practicing! Thank you so much! ♥️
Strumming pattern try DXUUXU.
Thanks for the suggestion!
If it doesn’t sound right,
Use C instead of Cmaj7
Well, the C is included in the Cmaj7. Some of the tutorials by others include other Maj7 chords beyond the C.
DDUUDU works
In the tutorial video (ua-cam.com/video/-ADxekOsPqA/v-deo.html), I suggest the island strum with a rasqueado strum on the second downbeat. If you visit the video, there's a link to the strumming section in the video description.
so 1 dduudu for 1 chord?
Play a normal C instead of maj7
You certainly can. A C chord has all the notes of Cmaj7 except one. That said, the Cmaj7 is very easy to play on ukulele.
Is used Em7 instead of Em 😅
All the notes in Em are in Em7, so feel free to use either one.
The strum pattern I use was duxduxdux continually
Thanks for sharing your strumming pattern!
@@ukeplayalongs Your Welcome!
