Im going through breast cancer and this hits home for me. We all adapt music to our situation and for me this video says when you are asleep you don't suffer from the Enormity of the situation but you do wake up you can't wait to sleep again to be away from this nightmare that happens when you're awake. Every day you wake up a little closer than a little closer and it takes everything you have to stop yourself from drowning in this situation even though you try to get away from it it is always there till you fall and give up but im not going down this road I will fight this awake and asleep till the end whatever that may be and Skylar grey will have a song for all theses times shes gone through a lot but I know girl you will come out of this like I will I need to come to your tour when you get there you will see everyone behind you but I know after all you have been through you will be THE LAST ONE STANDING.
The song speakes for my state of mind and the world right now. It gently, but effectively crushes and releases so much pent up sorrow - for me, in a rush of tears. Now, may she always rest her soul above the high-tide waterline.

Now I came and watched the music video and the music video is really different too and I couldn’t take my eyes off it while watching it. This is a truly admirable work. (Especially “The Only Thing I Hear”, best track off that record and it’s a bonus track. Seek it out. This song is very similar to it.). Wear Me Out was incredible off that record too. All this stuff was long before Everything I Need. (I love that song, too). She released an album under her actual name Holly Brook too years ago which was acclaimed (I still need to check that one out myself). I really liked her Angel With Tattoos record but it was very different from her usual sound. (A bit folky)

Well, when partnering with Eminem, who i think used Dido's vocals on a song ("Stan" i think?), it might've helped Skylar pivot towards a certain market and then started to build upon that to really individualize her delivery. Skylar definitely has some of the best vocals I've ever heard from any artist and it's clear her sound is genuine and her voice is unique. I don't listen to Dido otherwise, but since Skylar has collaborated with Eminem, I think it's fair to say that type of sound helped boost her direction. She just keeps getting better and better. Including this most recent song, I especially listened to Invisible and Make It Through the Day - both songs got me through times of depression or feeling like I wanted to quit my job but listening to her always lifts my spirits. ♥ Skylar Grey, will always support her!

And honestly I find myself relating to many of her insecurities. She describes depression, shyness and sensitivity very well. Most people dont understand it. My own family has never been able to understand that some people are just born sensitive and that has always made me feel a little ostracized. Or why I get headaches when I have to socialize with new people. The world is marketed toward extroverts and 24/7 sunny people so Skylars whole existence and stories make me feel like im not alone, honestly. I really like how she expresses herself with her hair. I shaved my head in 2020 and found my authentic self. No apologies. I watched myself grow and become more independent and creative as it grew back. So seeing this new Skylar shed herself old self and be unapologetically herself is like “yessss girl. DO the thing!” I just love the whole “grey” theme shes got going on. It really stands out🤍
