    Not a lot of coaches know the why behind the techniques they coach, follow people like TJ and dont be afraid to message him directly with questions.

    As a player who needs a new faceoff stick what would you reccomend. What stick would you reccomend for faceoff.

      I will make a future vid on this!
      Honestly it is a bit of personal preference, but good rules of thumb is elbows inside of knees, left foot past butt end (if you are atleast 10 years old), weight leaning slightly forward and to the right and be able to have your weight fall down on top of the ball, not into the ball from the side.

    What are some drills to get stronger/faster clamp? I use resistance bands and it seams like it works but idk. I was just wondering if you had some better drills to get faster and stronger clamp. Keep the vids coming!

      Elevator drill. Keep your hand floating in the air then when the whistle blows clamp by punching down as hard as you can into the ground. It also just takes a lot of practice and taking reps to get a faster clamp. Maybe try to use quicker whistles so that you are always ready as soon as the ref says SET that will help out your reaction time a lot.

      Hey Owen- honestly the BEST thing you can do is just practice improving muscle memory. That means tons and tons of practice reps and recording yourself. Try to figure out what looks/feels fast by using college guys as examples and try to emulate their movements. I know that isn’t a great answer but the truth is there is no simple answer to getting a better clamp- it takes tons and tons of practice to find a style that suits you best. Next vid will have some good drills though!

    Great Video. How do you fix the bad habit of shooting out their left hand?

    • @Tjlax_
      @Tjlax_  Рік тому +2

      Great solution would be blow the whistle in front of them and put your hand out where the shaft should stop moving (at the 10-11 o’clock position). You can also have them put a shaft around 8 inches in front of them and tell them not to let their left hand cross the shaft. This helps them focus on flipping over the top of the ball rather than pushing forward into the opponent.

    Would fogo be playable for a first time player? Would it also be better for a shorter player maybe 5'5

      Honestly one of the great things about lacrosse is anyone can play any position! There have been tons of short and tall players at every position. Being a short king (like me 😉) does give you some advantages at the faceoff X like being able to stay low for sure.

    Any opinion on whether it's good or bad to have you left hand rest straight down grabbing the middle of the stick rather than the butt end?

    • @Tjlax_
      @Tjlax_  Рік тому

      There are advantages and disadvantages to this tactic- there is only one type of style you can faceoff doing this which is the Jake naso/petey lasalla style. It may help you rotate into the ball well and punch forward quickly, but many faceoff guys have had great success not punching forward at all such as luke wierman and zach cole. The farther your left hand is from the head, the more power you generate when snapping over the ball. This also gives you much more versatility in how you want to use your left hand (lifting it up, going slightly forwards and into the ground or going backwards).
