Terry Kath cant be beat by anyone on guitar. I especially love the wa wa he plays in 25 or 6 to 4. I miss him, 😢 Chicago will never be the same without him..miss your talent Terry Kath.
@@kevinpeterson6468 yeah, Jimi once said Terry was the best guitar player in the universe but I don't think there is any way to compare anyone to Jimi hendrix's guitar playing and lyrics
Thanks Maria, agree big time and I would be hard pressed to find a better demonstration of 'shredding' haha, Terry set the bar very high with this performance right?
I seriously get chills and get all emotional when I watch this. So freakin’ powerful!!!! The first two Chicago albums are in heavy rotation on my turntable...always.
SAME! LOL, Terry here, Stevie Ray, Jimi, and Carlos in his earlier days are the only guitarists I've seen actually leaving their bodies during a performance - they were so 'One' with their music at that moment
his guitar playing was top notch lost of guys play solos but when you really feel whats being played you have hit the mark,he was a brilliant guitar player hands down
Terry was such a talent and so under-rated. Wish he'd stuck around so we could see what else he could do with his guitar. He was fantastic. RIP Terry, we miss you.
One guitarist guitarist ever to play wow! Waiting for the guitar to brust in to flames he's sherdding like that and his bends and licks are unbelievable man was guitar god 100 perfect
Tremendous playing by Terry... On autopilot! Reminds me of Duane Allman & Dickey Betts At Fillmore East? Amazing Hendrix complimenting him. The early yrs are best from Chicago... After Kath accidentally killing himself in '78, was downhill... Elevator music. 🎸
I mean!!! Check this out, I made a bass-enhanced version of 'Beginnings' from their 1st album (keep your eye out, will be posting here later this week) - played it for my best friend who said "Peter Cetera plays bass?!". Hah point being he's so criminally mixed down in most of the recordings. A fantastic bassist - along with a voice like no other
This Solo begins to show just what a Talent Terry Kath was! Never get tired of His Guitar Mastery as well as the Original Chicago Band Members Excellent Musicianship, the Brass!!! Love the Original Chicago! (the continuing Chicago Band as Well!)
@Millennial Smark I think you missed the most important part, being able to replicate the notes, timing, and rhythm exactly isn't enough on its own. What set him apart from the rest whas the emotion he injected into every bend, slide, and hammeron.
My what a limited life you live; not being able to fully appreciate food because you are not a chef, unable to fully appreciate a drum solo because you aren’t a drummer, unable to fully appreciate a painting because…I mean museums are totally not on the menu for all us non painters, sculptors… Dude we appreciate it because of its own brilliance. No comparisons required or requested.
This is Mozartish as described by Salieri. Misplace one note diminishment , a phrase or measure it collapses . Yes there is a reason Jimmy praised Terry Kath .
@@jfayiii Thank you . Terry Kath . I corrected that gaffe which didn’t originate from me . Notice how our Apple and maybe Google software ain’t what it used to be . Part of that quote is from the Old Great Mare !

A black boy (in movie) is having a conversation with his father and the boy says, one of the greatest guitar players ever was Terry Keth and his father says no Jimi Hendrix was and the son retorts "..oh and where did you get that from Rolling Stone?" Probably just me. Sad I know! I don't care whose the best I just love that sound. Not to dance just listen! 😑😂
From the days when a solo wasn't just a bunch of scales strung together and played as fast as they can, with no rhyme, reason, emotion or creativity. Even non-pop stuff from today, especially, IMO, so-called "progressive" metal, is a mere shadow of what it was in the 60s & 70s. Not to say there's nothing good today, you just have to look harder. For me the suggested vids are often good, here and the songs on Spotify. And we can listen to the old stuff and make new discoveries. RIP Terry. Another victim of an unloaded gun.
I think you say this because you can see sooooo many solos today, since pretty much anybody can upload a song, album or video on the web. Those guys we remember from the 70s were the best of their generation and were very selected. I guarantee you that all af the "normal" rock guitarists from the 70s were running up an down pentatonics and copying the same licks over and over. if you select not 2000, but 20 players from the last 20/30 years, you can fing guys with incredible knowledge, talent, creativity and musicality, not only mindless shredders. Of course not in pop music...
I know I’m coming in late, but even Hendrix himself called this guy the greatest guitarist in the universe. Obviously opinions are just opinions, but maybe slow down.

Amazing electric guitarist! Sadly UNDERRATED. Rest In Heaven Legend Terry Kath

If you like Kath, check out Rory Gallagher.
He literally makes that guitar sing. And it is beautiful.
Fantastic, one of the best, lead & rhythm simultaneously.
Absolutely!
I wouldnt be surprised if he started levitating during the studio recording of this..

I'm surprised there wasn't eyes glowing and his aura started pushing everything away
He was definitely in his K hole.
What a guiter player. Savage

What a lucky man you are! I would have killed to see him before he sadly died WAY too young. And the really sad part is that it was so unnecessary 😢
" Now I'm pretty good, but this cat can play!"
Jimi Hendrix talking about Terry Kath
I read that! Jimi keeping it real
Wow, revolutionary
Masterpiece // chef d'oeuvre
Terry Kath completly underrated // complètement sous estimé et inconnu en France aussi.
Take a note kids Terry was the real thing . There’s a reason why Hendrix liked this guy and some guy from Texas named Billy Gibbons!
Pretty much fall to my knees every time.
