In other big cities in South East Asia, they very augur to build MRT System like Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta,, and others city. Only in Malaysia there is many transportation consultants who have backhind mindset.
Singapore MRT planning is way more successful than Malaysia especially when comes coveniency and efficiency. Why Malaysia failed is because the leadership, management and short sighted planning of the people who manage this. If we had a capable and a good quality of professional take care of this project planning, we won’t be so far behind to our neighbors
It is atrocious for Dr Rosli Khan to say that MRT is a failure and that it runs thru Damansara Heights and TTDI which has low ridership. IN a successful society, the rich takes public transport like in London and in NYC where even the ex-mayor Mr Bloomberg whom is also a Billionaire, ride the Subway to work on many occasions. Meanwhile, this consultant in his FMT article cited low ridership by taking from Mutiara Damansara to Semantan on non-peak hours and he dared claimed that it is on peak hours. It is a very biased 6 stations route and on a low ridership timing. He should try to take it in the morning rush hour where trains are full to the brim while running at 4mins frequency and then only come and tell us that it is underutilised. I still can't accept that it is a blatant lie that the MRT is underutilised. He should again take the MRT if he is not too sure.
I think Penang island very needs LRT System for the next future decades, its very expensive to build, but it more durable and convenience for commuters.
The only difference between ART over Bus is that ART dies not require a Driver to drice it. It us a Driverless vehicles. Do we have problems not able to find drivers??? There is a lit of people wanted to drive to earn a living. Do we need a machine to drive for us? Further it is in preliminary design stage of autonomous driving. What happened if it knocked pedestrian as the system failed to recognised???? Bare in mind Penang streets are criwded with people.. Second the existing Penang road is old and narrow .Any special lane for ART will be chaotic to the traffic in Penang. Look at Federal Highway where one lane is for bus only. How terrible jam it was when 3 lanes narrowed to 2. The bus lane is wasted as the bus lane is not fully occupied. Can a special lane for ART be given in Penang narrow streets?
Why is no one asking why every LRT built needs to have its own rolling stock. We KNOW trains will be cannibalized for parts. Why does Penang LRT need to have a different rolling stock from LRT3 and RTS? Wouldnt we get bigger discounts with a bigger order?
Awani can do better. Know the basics before inviting people to be interviewed. For example, there only a handful of ART implementations in the world mostly in China. It is a proprietary system (by CRCC China), which means it is a monopoly and no open tender is possible, if tender specs are based on the ART - This opens to abuse of public coffers. In addition, operators would be bound by one supplier who can easily not supply parts or manipulate costs in the future, thus, penny wise, pound foolish. ART is a glorified bus and if it's so great why aren't there more cities interested? Go figure..
@@vincentkohlumcfan22 You're right, it is really sloppy journalism.. either that or they have a hidden agenda siding the naysayers as this topic is resurrected each time the project moves forward. Definitely not the BBC in quality
And does that mean Gadgetbahn is the way to go? It seems to me that this kinda narrative is promoted. ART is seriously more expensive to maintain. It is new technology. There are lots of medium capacity rapid transit out there with established reliability. Why not use that for Penang? With the challenging terrain and we want ART to navigate Penang? People used to think it was a white elephant also for LRT Kelana Jaya line. Look at how it is now! 4 car trains also can’t cope. Please rethink again whether ART is cost effective

Are you a regular commuter in Klang Valley? I dare you to ride more often than I do, and publish and document all LIVE footage of the crowdedness of our MRT. It is already crush load. Please stop saying our MRT is trash.
We need to learn from Mrt failure of Klang valley, clearly ART is a better choice based on the amount of money Penang can safe, why PSG is still pushing for Lrt? Imagine the ugly elevated lrt running all over Penang what a mess

ART is too slow. Imagine I want go to work where there is a traffic jam, it will be totally fucked up.
Let LRT Penang Line from penang island to Penang Sentral to seamless travel for local and foreign tourists.

Majority penangites choose LRT. So please don't mention ART again .
Astro Awani, pls don't invite Consultants rubbish anymore.
That I agree that people in certain areas prefer cars so not all will opt for public transportation

I seriously don’t get how biased consultants who have made countless baseless arguments were invited here.

Hi
after numerous complaints, it is baffled why Astro still invite bias and anti establishment "consultant" to their show. Is Astro that desperate?
Rm10.5 billion
Totally agree with Dr. Rosli! If caused a lot of debt due to LRT with less ridership, who will bear the loss and be accountable?
