This was really useful thanks. Had a look at a prospect over the weekend. Looked OK on the outside! It was parked on a steep driveway and I noticed that the drivers door was sagging a a bit which made me suspicious of the door pillar. Looked ok on the photos when parked up on the flat. It's difficult when you can't really start poking around with a screwdriver with the owner watching. There were other tell-tale signs too which all added up to a decision to walk away sadly.
Thanks, good video. I’ve been considering a moggy for a while, but I’m not familiar with them, and this video is a great help. Replacing or fabricating some panels doesn’t phase me, as I was brought up on welding up mostly 70’s + 80’s cars. Hopefully later this summer I can have a look around for one, after I’ve got a few other things out of the way.
Hi Dermot, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. For myself I've only purchased my traveller a year ago. I've so much to learn, and it's good to see where potential problems may lie. Thanks again. I've liked and subscribed.👍
My knowledge leaves a lot to be desired, I'm just learning as I go along. I have been busy with work so it's been a while since I was last in the garage but I feel it's time to get back in there.👍
Hi Ben Hope you found the video useful, if you need any information just ask.I was once in your position and struggled, I will assist in any way I can.Hope you find your own car soon.👍
This particular car looks very presentable from outside,I knew what it was like underneath from a few simple checks,be wary if going to buy a Minor they can deceive.Hence why I made the video.Hope it helps.👍
@@dermotmurray4658 too late!...bought one yesterday...mine is a very rust free project someone started 20-30 years ago, and then left in a dry barn....primed and different colours tried out on it, looks like a clown car, but able to see all it's secrets...so you bought this knowing the issues, and just jump in and fix it?...you've done a few of these i'm guessing?

AAAAAAaaaaaaaargh that's not a good vid to watch before going to sleep.
Nice video, just bought a '71 Minor and your video was really helpful in checking for rust. Thankfully mine is not too bad apart from front bump stops
Very useful and informative, a really helpful and honest review of the area's to look out for. Thank you for sharing.

Cheers for this video its been very helpful :)
Good video , I think the Morris was designed with rust in mind!
They were built at a different time, I doubt they even considered rust being an issue.
Hi mate thanks for the really informative video I'm 19 and really want to own a Moggy, so trying to learn as much as possible before buying one. 👍

Maybe some day they will manufacture new Morris Minors . Far better than a lot of the new cars.
Thank you Dermot. I’m looking into buying a morris minor convertible. Do you offer an inspection. Service for buyers ? If so the cost please.
