dmargio wright phillips, hope he succeeds and has a sick career. hopes he has the career his father shouldve have. nonetheless, Shaun's an absolute city legend 💙
The man was absolutely class for City; a match winner, and deserved his big money move to Chelsea (who were the best side in the country at the time), it’s just unfortunate that he wasn’t used correctly when he was there and his peak should have lasted longer than it did, I don’t think he gets spoken about as much because of that
@Full English2308 who mentioned anything about eras? he said "chelsea were the best in the country at the time" and he was right! Chelsea almost had an undefeated season in the premier league too!
@Full English2308 they won a few more after that u dumb clown.. ignorance is bliss innit? and im a west ham fan btw but srsly you probably werent watching chelsea play back then
I used to work at Maine Road as a younger and remember seeing Shaun about, he was always polite enough to 'let on' to us when we seen him. Wrighty was my childhood hero no doubt, but I'll always remember how respectful Shaun was in person, as a man. Respect to you Shaun!
SHAUNY WRIGHT WRIGHT WRIGHT! SHAUNY WRIGHT WRIGHT WRIGHT! Shaun is a City legend and one of my all time favourites. He was so good in the 01/02 season when we got promoted under Kevin Keegan. He played as a wingback throughout that season and was tremendous. I'm sure he knows a lot of his early development is down to the way KK played him. Really kick started his career. His son D'margio is 18 and is in our U18s team. Last season he played 22 scored 4 with 11 assists. Unfortunately he hasn't played as much this season and had been loaned out to Blackburn U18s. He scored and helped them destroy Arsenal U18s with a 4-1 win in th FA Youth Cup QF's. I fear he won't be coming through and playing for City like his dad did, which is sad 😢 But it's a different club now and it's obviously much more difficult getting into the first team. Hopefully we can keep him at the club as long as possible 🙏
Always a joy to watch was our Shaun Wright-Phillips... gutted when he went to Chelsea but then buzzing when he came back. Would have loved to have seen him win something at City but unfortunately he was just a few years off it
God I can’t tell you how much this guy was my hero as a kid as a blue!! A candle in the dark!!!!!!!! I love this guy like family!!! This guy if put into this city squad as a youngster wow Sterling I love you but This guy had it all. You may say he didn’t show it at Chelsea but I’ll say and if you know you know deep down that move affected him bad. C. T. I. D!!! Legend forever. End of.
I saw him playing last year alongside Drogba for a semi pro team here in the US. I just remember thinking he was absolutely shocking. Just awful. I couldn’t believe this was the same player I’d grown up watching. Great player in his prime though.

I always wanted to know what Ty from AFTV did before he went on the show! Interesting views and how he could seperate his City career and being a fan for Arsenal!
That Chelsea move was 100% down to his dad. You think Ian Wright had signed for Chelsea he was that delighted the day he signed, while poor Shaun looked completely lost..

Good old open minded English coaching mentality back then. Too small to make it, but never too big like Crouch, Chapman, Dean and Caroll.
