Kent you're so awesome! I can't believe I mentioned something and you made a video about it! This is so helpful. Between your awesome playing, your jazz knowledge, and your skill at teaching, this is really a gift to the piano community. Cheers to you, Kent. Can't wait to watch your future videos (I've already watched like 20 of them and developed new chord progressions from them!). You rock, man.
Wow...so cool, Geoff. I'm happy you made a request that I wanted to work up into a video. I look for inspiration from my followers. I'll treasure your comment!
Dear Kent Hewitt, I hope this message finds you well. I take a moment to express my sincere thanks for the MASTER CLASS in Turnarounds- Chord Progressions with Best Voice Leading in Spread Voicings. In every lesson, and particularly in this class, you manage to explain with stunning clarity the magic behind progressions and the art of finding the best voicings in turnaround chords. Your approach to voice leading has revealed new dimensions of this style to me; every example and every explanation feels like a guide in a complex terrain that, thanks to you, is now much more accessible. The way you approach spread voicings allows me to understand how chords unfold with fluidity and elegance, creating those harmonic textures that are so characteristic of jazz and that enrich each piece so much. I admire not only the technique, but also the passion and vocation that you bring to each lesson. I am deeply inspired by the care and detail you put into your teaching, and every time I listen to your interpretation of jazz standards, like those Coltrane pieces in which you manage to convey a unique spirituality, I feel I am receiving a real lesson in life and music. Thank you, Kent, for sharing your wisdom and love of jazz with all of us. These classes are a priceless gift to those of us who continue to learn and enjoy every chord, every silence and every nuance of jazz. With gratitude and admiration, Eduard.
Wow...thank you so much, Eduard. I apprecaite that you understand what I'm trying to convey, and you express your thoughts so eloquently. I truly am very appreciative. I will file your comment in my archives.
I've known this is the key to being a good musician, and I talked about this with my teacher after I'd been taking lessons for a couple of months. I then saw that this was an advanced concept, and out of my pay grade. So I'm learning simple triads and I quit progressing in my Volume Two books and went back to Boko One, but with the idea of learning musicality. I heard someone say that Jazz should be taught to Grade Eight players, and I agree. Some people progress faster than others, maybe they come from a musical family, or they are just hardwired differently. This is out of my pay grade, but I took note that I've got to pay attention to voice leading. Merci beaucoup. I have a good address for later. BTW I've already been practicing your exercises and it's helped my technique. I just wish that Amazon had an Audiation App to push me over the hump...
Thanks so much for comment. I'm glad I could help you progress in any way at all. If you learned something about voice leading, then you made a major leap...keep at it and enjoy your progress!
Great Class !!! So beautiful chord progressions !!! Brings happiness. I found one of these progressions in jazz standard „ On Green Dolphin Street” 🙂 Endless thanks Kent . I swing loose, especially when I am watching You playing. Best !
Hi Kent its a great lession. ❤ I see your production quality has improved alot. May I recommend adding a "Noise Gate" effect to the vocal track? There is lot of noise in the background 😅
Thanks for the tip. How did you determine that it's the vocal track and not the keyboard? It could be the EQ on the input mixer. I tried to cut the highs ....but I will check on this in the future.
Hey Kent, a couple of new (old) live video recordings of the Dudley Moore trio have surfaced on UA-cam recently. "love walked in" and "I though about you". Some good turnarounds in these....

Hello Kent...I'm seeing you here in Brazil!
Great to hear from you in Brazil!!
Hey Kent, a couple of new (old) live video recordings of the Dudley Moore trio have surfaced on UA-cam recently. "love walked in" and "I though about you". Some good turnarounds in these....
I've seen his videos...he was a great pianist...influenced a lot by Oscar.
Kent, why don't you put all on a sheet and make accessible? Is it just an advertisement or you want to be really helpful to people?
