- Jeremy Corbyn has claimed dozens of Labour MP candidates are secretly supporting him and not the party's official choice in the race for Islington North.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the former Labour leader, now running as an independent, said he had been told “good luck” and “make sure you win” by former colleagues.
Mr Corbyn vowed to push Sir Keir Starmer, his successor as Labour leader, to the Left if he gets back into Parliament, including championing the end of the two-child benefit cap.
Mr Corbyn also criticised Sir Keir for not standing by a comment at the last election that he would make a “great prime minister”, calling the refusal to do so "odd".
The election battle in Islington North is one of the most closely watched of the campaign. It is seen as a microcosm of the wider split that exists between moderates and left-wingers in Labour.

Jeremy Corbyn the best pm the uk never had.
Corbyn should be running the party not Israel.
Exactly 🤞🏻
Well said...
And the country should be run for Britain, not Israel.
Living rent free. Top man Corbyn.
I don't get the "I want the Tories out" argument for not voting Jeremy. The Tories are going to get absolutely trounced, they'll likely have a majority of over 100. How does Jeremy winning Islington North mean the Tories will stay in?
He is the embodiment of the Labour Party one of the best constituency MPs beyond any rational argument.
Oh typical Telegraph… he’s been marvellous from day 1 and I’m sure there’s no difference now. Just as I’m sure that the Telegraph is still scaremongering about any form of positive change
I don't agree with Corbyn on everything but he is a man of great character.
Best pm we never had
"hard left". Who wrote this?
We are labour voters for last 70 years. We would have definitely votes labour Party lead by jormy. We have no intention to vote labour Party lead by stemer.
He could be the right PM, alas!
Sorry it's starmer who's divided the party.
Go Corbyn in Islington North.
Even better now.
Kudos to jeremy. The only honest politician anong a crop of corrupt slaves of crporate money
oops - typo in the title there. It should read "How Labour is dividing friends and neighbours in Corbyn heartland"
Wishful thinking from the Tory party bottom boys at the Telegraph 😂
Get back in your hole, nonce.
Is that homophobia sunshine?
What absolute rubbish from this "newspaper".
What's up with these cringey cutaways to the reporter nodding while Jeremy is answering, which were obviously filmed at a later point (due to only having 1 camera)?
All politics diivides friends and neighbours and goes without much mention ,But then its Jeremy Corbyn and out come the negatives in a one sided manner as ever,
Has Sir Keir transitioned? 4:20
Labour will finish off the county jokes reform will put right
Lost of UK... Actualy JC eligible to be the new PM of UK..
Time for Brexit to exit.
I took his meds so he didn't have to!
whats with the weird af camera angle at 1:48 lololol and 3:10
Been edited in later to make it look like they have 2 cameras!
@@webleydevelopment I thought that as well. It genuinely looked like they did it as a pick up shot lol
Islington is far leafy, an the split is between the left an the centre not the left an the hard left😂
Tories out.
Thanks
He should move to Cuba.
Have some respect 🤌
Unconcious remarks
Cuba doesn't need him. Britain does.
@@seekingabsolution1907 Antibritain maybe does, not Britain.
40 years but the whole area is a hell hole.
So are so many constituencies with independants, tory, labour, lib dem etc. What's your point?
@IsSalty he adequately made his point I would say.
@@user-wj7cv9hb5j MPs from opposition parties have very little control over government budgets. Local budgets have been cut 40% in real terms over the last 14 years.
So I’m really not sure what the point was. My constituency is full of wealth, a Tory safe seat and has had a very powerful MP for a number of years. My constituency has gone to the pits due to massive local funding cuts.
@@IsSalty Corbyn wasn't in the opposition party for almost half his tenure as MP. What did he do in the 13 years of Labour?
@@IsSaltypoint is that he's not much different
Starmer v Corbyn. Trotsky v Trotsky.
That makes absolutely no sense. More like Stalin vs Trotsky. Although Corbyn is more akin to a Quaker than Trotsky.
He seems like a Qatar puppet to me
Qatar was a state sponsor of the militias fighting to overthrow Gaddafi in Libya. The same militias the UK Tory government was backing. In fact the future Manchester Arena Bombers (two brothers) had their passports returned and surveillance measures lifted so they could go and train with one of several Al Qaeda aligned militias Britain was backing.
@@hazelwray4184 So the UK Tory Govt (and generally the UK, because Lab=Tory=Deep State) actually back the militant Islamists who come in various shapes and sizes? They are friends (or in the pocket of) Qatar, Islamists (so, Iran, Saudi, etc) but also Israel. Interesting.
He's got loads of green policies to wean us off big oil.
He had his time.
I truly despise this man I feel is into some real disgusting stuff and he’s using his skills to gain power THATS it.
This man is like a woke darth vader to me with a rainbow lightsaber he uses for his sick self.
Calm down! He's just a journalist doing his job.
Hamas lover.
Obviously. Freedom lover.
No .He believes everyone has a right to live a decent life ❤❤
I like Corbyn but he should have never said it. Also he could have retracted his comments.
@@chriswatson3464Jeremy Corbyn didn't want to be bullied by the lobby of a foreign country.
The political figure whose supporters are thicker than Starmer's.
...and your factual arguments are?
