- The six-week ‘Melodi Grand Prix’ pre-selection has come to its conclusion in Norway. On the exciting evening of the grand final, the Norwegian public voted on their winner: @Subwoolfer will head to Turin in May with the song ‘Give That Wolf A Banana’.

The dance, the costumes, the lyrics, all have some kind of logical consistency - and then there's just the spaceman jiving in the background! :D It is a very silly but also very catchy song which for sure will be remembered.

I'm an American getting into Eurovision and I agree. I liked the songs that stood out this year (this, Moldova, etc). Almost all the ballads felt bland to me :/

@bera I mean sure but some of the lyrics are also "you said your grandma tastes the best" - so he's inviting the wolf to eat his grandma (after the banana presumably).
Any time I'm sad I watch this video. I also force other people to watch it. While it is kind of ridiculous I absolutely love it. And love singing along with it. I wish in America our musicians could be more like this sometimes.

For some reason, I've had this in my head recently, And I've got to give the artists credit for taking their own song seriously. It really enhances the song and the performance
This song is exceptional. I haven't heard such an inspiring and original song in a long time. I think that people, especially the jury at Eurovision, did not understand this song because it is eccentric ahead of its time. I am in love with this song. All praise for the Norwegians.
Hopefully this becomes as big as a hit that "What does the fox say?" was back in 2013, I miss this type of fun, catchy music topping the charts.

Bro really Sweden is so boring in Eurovision. You always send very strong songs but they’re just so generic. I watched Melodifestivalen and MGP and MGP just has so much more personality imo. And I’m supposed to like Sweden more than Norway because I study Swedish at uni, man.

I love that my country chose to vote for them. They’re so unique. I personally prefer the unique stuff in Eurovision because at the end of the night when it’s time to vote I always remember the stuff that stands out more, therefore I’m more likely to want to vote for unique stuff than something simple and forgettable. And I think that might be the case for a lot of people. As you could tell by last year, a lot of the songs in the top 10 were unique and stood out in some way unlike most off the songs in the bottom. I think the fact that they’re so unique and easy to remember could give them a good chance in the competition.
This is exactly the kind of thing I watch Eurovision for too. Too many sounds the same every year, and over the years sound and look the same, and all those silver dresses and big hair last year, the artists even looked the same. They will be unique, Like Conchita, Lordi and Hatari and Verka. All of those I loved
the thing is, it totally redeems itself with the catchy melody

Here's the thing about Eurovision: some countries excel at just being goofy and/or weird. We forget this since they're also pretty well-known for the straightforward stuff, but Norway is very much one of them. So are Latvia, Georgia, and Moldova (also Finland, but they haven't selected yet, and Hungary, RIP). It's not that I don't think they CAN send straightforward songs...it's just that they're so much better at crazy stuff! Let the crazies be crazy! You go, Subwoolfer!
