- Lviv, Ukraine is one the best preserved historical cities in Central Europe. Its’ downtown core is protected by UNESCO and this is the heritage of the entire world and human civilization.
We must save it and prevent any possible destruction. The city survived both World Wars and will hold on with all possible means including some protective measures taking place now.
Not sure what will happen next! So now I invite you for a short virtual Lviv walking guide tour in order to appreciate this magnificent city and see what is now happening here.

My heart is melting... My ancestors are from Lwow - Lviv and will haunt those who come forward to destroy the land. We are Polish, Ukraine, Russian. We do not want war. We have family church that was built by us. TO my cousins who come back and forth across the pond, we always rise to the occasion. Customs and education they can not take away from us! LONG LIVE LVIV, Slavics!
Then, ask them why they made Shukhevich and Bendera as their heroes ? Do not forget how many of ukranians those two morons killed !
@@BrutalniyEagle did Bandera like Łwow? He killed many Poles and Jews in that region when it was still a part of Poland.
@@makslargu5799 Nuremberg trial concluded that Bandera was a nazi! What are you taking about ? He was a freaking creepy moron !
Right... my heart is also melting listening to all this... my 🇵🇱ancestors were native to Lwów for hundreds of years... I do enjoy watching his wideos BUT let's not go overboard. My parents visited graves of my ancestors in 2008 and were escorted by local security, till today I ask my pops why local security was involved with Polish tourists visiting cemetery of our ancestors. I have a lot of question marks... most likely I will never get an answers.
What a grand, elegant Central European metropolis! Unfortunately I have never been to Lviv but it reminds me of Vienna, Prague and Krakow. It must be preserved at any cost. What you guys are doing by mapping it all is admirable. Greetings from Estonia. Glory to Ukraine! Au Ukrainale!
It was indeed part of Austria-Hungary
@@Hilariusgamer Yes, and it was called Lemberg, but now it is a uniquely Ukrainian city, Lviv.
@@xwiirastusx yes because the surviving polish majority (of the massacres of Volhynia and Galicia) were kicked out in ‘45 with the “population exchange” and most of the Jews had been murdered by that point. Sadly, it’s not a unique story at all for places west of the border. Screw nationalism.
@@makslargu5799 I'm not here to tell you about your history, nor am I incined to hear a lecture. I praise the architecture and the beauty of the city.

Gorgeous architecture and medieval history!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing with us.
What a beautiful city with amazing history, thank you for the tour. Its impressive seeing the hard work and positivity in Lviv.
Thank you for showing us your beautiful city. Praying for the end of the war. Peace, hope and love.
Lviv is amazing! I've been there twice and thoroughly enjoyed my visits, both of which were too short - I could have easily spent weeks exploring its nooks and crannies and multi-layered past. And I studied urban conservation at university, so naturally, the city had been on my "must-see" list for a long time. Definitely one of those places that are hard to leave. I really hope to see beautiful, Lviv again one day, after Ukraine has won victory and regained its freedom. I'm utterly disgusted and deeply saddened by what is happening right now, but the solidarity, resilience and courage of Ukrainians have been moving and inspiring. Слава Україні!
It feels how much you love your city and all country! Save us God and Glory to Ukraine!
Hi Orest what a beautiful city and architecture. Thank you for sharing more interesting history and updates in your videos.

Lwów to Polskie dziedzictwo. To Polacy wybudowali te wszystkie zabytki!!!
@@mateuszduda225 ...and Poland got half of Germany
@@edwagner4272 Oczywiście wiem o tym. Niemniej gdy odwiedzam dawne Niemieckie miasta w Polsce np.

Orest, great work. I stumbled across your channel earlier today, and have really appreciated it. I was in Lviv last month working at one of the world central kitchen tents at the Lviv railway station. I worked there everyday for a month, so I didn’t get to see a ton of Lviv, but what I did see was incredible. I’m hoping to come back and do some more volunteer work soon. Hi Zub, I admire your love to Lviv and definitely it is now a Ukrainian city and we Poles support you and Ukraine fight for freedom with no any hesitation, absolutely but please do not forget that city of Lviv was Polish from 14th century plus it was a center of Polish culture until Soviets
invaded Poland in 1939. Since than Poles had to escape, many of them were killed. One of the oldest Polish Universities was in Lviv and Soviets and professors killed. Churches there are mainly Roman catholic because Poles are Roman catholic. City was multicultural because Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth was multicultural. Please do not list nations living in Lviv in the past in the order that Poles also lived there as a last nation mentioned on this list. They did build this town. I admire Ukrainians for their bravery and love of freedom but future will be bright when we will build it on the truth.
I know history and remember this, Walter ;-)
Thank you for your response. I was waiting for it. I hope that this barbaric invasion on your country will end soon and you will be back guiding tourists from all over the world remembering also about Poles who have build the city that you love so much. I have to thank you also for pointing out the synagogue and the past history of the Jews in Lviv/Lvov.
While the Soviets tried to bury the story of the Jews of Lvov in the 50’s and 60’s during the Soviet era, their presence and destruction can never be erased. Peace be with you.

Lviv is a beautiful city, with I heard quite a foodie scene, wish I visited before all this happened. Too bad my crypto bag didn't grow enough for me to take a lengthy holiday. I hope the World Bank and IMF are generous enough to restore the city to what it was if our worst fears come true.

I find it strange that the Ukrainian government isn't using accelerated emergency procedures to nominate more tentative sites for World Heritage Site status. Sites in Chernihiv and Derzhprom specifically are in danger. Chernihiv and Kharkiv are struck by russian rockets rather often, Derzhprom was already damaged a bit. Ukraine only used the procedure for inscribing the centre of Odesa on the list, the nomination for which was already in the works before the invasion.
I was worried about you since 35people died from bombs close to lviv
This is POLISH heritage!!! In Poland we have got many historic cities like Wrocław, Szczecin or Bytom. Although we haven’t told about theess cities that this is beautiful Polish heritage. All pretty buildings in thesse cities are German architecture. We don’t tell on let’s look what a beautiful Polish building, cause they’re in German architecture style and built by Germans. Those cities we got in 1945 year, due to conference in Jalta. The same with Lviv. To 1945-th this city was Polish and then became USSR city and now this is POLISH city in Ukrainie.
Lwów jest Polskim miastem
Lwów JEST ukraińskim miastem. Jednak jego historia związana jest z Polską i Rzeczpospolitą. A ten wygadany młody czlowiek, robi wszystko by to ukryć. Podobnie jak obecne władze miasta.

Lwów/Lviv was a city for everyone because it was a city of the Kingdom of Poland (1340) and then Commonwelth (1569-1795) - state that was a place for everyone, of which Lwów was one of the main cities. All across its existence, completely dominated by the polish elite and it is thanks to the polish civilization culture that there were so many ethnicities and religions. Which is also reason of that beautiful architecture and art that you like so much. Poles have always been open and tolerant - which can also be seen today in the case of ukrainian refugees - this has always been like that. In the fourteenth century Jews wandered around Europe. Polish king Casimir the Great invited them (not for free, but with open arms) to Krakow and to entire kingdom, this is the reason of jewish presence in Lwów.
18:40 Until 1945, Poles are 60 percent of Lviv's population and their were elits, Ukrainians / Ruthenians only 7 percent. Lviv is the largest concentration of polish architecture (buildings designed or financed by Poles).
I am glad that there are people like You who want to protect this priceless heritage, but remember that it is, above all, polish civilization heritage, of which the Ruthenians were an important part.

Nice tour guide on Lviv but a bit not true. Ukraine formally exist from something like 1992. All we can see here was actually Polish heritage and not Ukrainian. Lviv was polish city for 99% of his history. Of course this is 100% Ukraine right now, but honesty would tell you to mention that all this old things was builded by Poles. Up to World War 2 Lviv had around 70% of polish citizens, around 20% of Jewish citizens, 7% of Ukrainians and 3% others like Russians or Germans. How then you can tell that this is Ukrainian heritage? Is not, the same not like Wroclaw in Poland had not Polish heritage but German. History was complicated but don't twist the historical facts. All the best for you and Ukraine.
This is very good coments
Lviv was founded by Ukrainian king Daniel in 13th century.
Then in 1340 it was capture by Poland and remained under Polish control for many centuries.
Between 1774 and 1918 it was Austrian.
Since the middle of 19th century it became the centre of Ukrainian culture.
Everybody want to have a piece of beautiful Lviv and I don't privatise it just for me.
@@zuborest Lwów was settled by the Lendians, Lechitic tribe in 9th century. Then conquered by Ruthenians in 11th. In 13th century Lwów was named to honor son of king Daniel, Liev. In 1340 by law of succed became properity of Polish king after death of Boleslaus Yuriy. Lwów in 1356 became city with Magdeburg rights granted by Casimir III, Polish king. In 19th centrury Lwów was international city with majority of Poles more than 50%, Jews 30% and Ukrainians 14% and other. I am realy hoped than this war end soon and we all will be able to visit this beautiful ukrainian city with polish herritage. For us Poles this is one of 3 city survied after 2 world war, that's why it's so important for us. In 20's it was centre of mathematical world, Banach, Ulam etc. We Poles and Ukrainians have to be proud of this history. We have to protect this city and protect people living in Lwów. Stay strong Ukraine! Poland will always support you, my friends! We are proud how Ukrainians are heroically fighting for freedom!!! Leopolis semper fidelis tibi, Polonie!

"We must save UNESCO heritage of Ukraine" --- sorry, whom are you appealing to? To those who bombed the humanity's most ancient historical sites in Mesopotamia and sacked museums there? Good luck with that.
Not to you of course
Dearest Orest,
With the greatest respect.
You have not considered that surrender is the best option, considering the current conditions... if Zelenskyy surrendered, and the Ukrainian army stopped fighting:
1) They would stop dying, both soldiers and mainly civilians.
2) They would stop destroying your land.
3) They could continue at home, in their beloved country.
4) They could then, in peace, fight and defend their rights in another way, as GANDHI did in his time.
5) Zelenskyy, I don't think it's the best thing for his own people to say that he will fight and resist until the end, when he is in much better condition to resist than the rest of the civilians, babies, children, women, grandmothers and other civilians.
With much love and respect,

If Russia wants peace they can stop this unprovoked aggression at anytime. Russia is fighting for land, Ukraine is fighting for their freedom and their lives. No amount of surrendering to Putin will stop this war. He’ll just try to take more. And all you have to do is look at Chechnya and Georgia and Crimea. Ukraine can’t stop until they’ve won.
I have a question for you, why didn't you Ukrainian people protest against this conflict that has been going on for years. 2014-2022 In your country ? It's not right to blame someone else for it, because it is in your country! Instead of letting it escalate too what it is now!
The war is Donbas was a bleeding scar since 2014
Stop it! Lwow is a Polish City, and Polish Architecture. What kind of tour guide are you, giving false information. King Daniel was from the Rurik Dynasty.
