Something very few people consider when talking about time traveling, particularly to the past, is that the Earth was potentially millions of miles away from where it is now in space.
the interesting question is coding vs doing theoretical computer science. which is more challenging? can people who are good coders do well in theoretical computer science? complexity theory has so many open problems.
Could you prove the p not = to p space conjecture if in the many worlds scenario, we you could connect the same points in 3D space in each of the universes?
This logic makes sense, ability to change past would be a horrible idea. Real paradox for me is, why can we travel in the future than, this events are just as problematic, only less obvious. Imagine a time capsule rotating near the speed of light around it's axis, with a small sample of carbon isotope inside. After a year we would take sample our of capsule and carbon date it's age, time was passing slower inside rotating capsule, so we would have a peace of material past on the table in the present. Or what about if we repeat same experiment with human sperm, those cells could literally appear to be one day old, after one year has passed. There's no paradox in those thought models, problems arise from physics, quantum particles just can't slow down like that because they are interactions between extremely fine tuned fields. And we know past matter is real, they accelerate protons in LHC accelerator for years. What happened to space time where those bits of matter existed before they time traveled into our past, is it gone or space got entangled over dimension somehow, stretching over time and existing at many places at once. Einstein's equation is very simple, energy is matter accelerated over a distance, where m is unit of mass and speed of light is distance light must travel in some unit of time. But time is also relative, it can be compressed. Back to models previously described, capsules were rotating in real space, their rotation was moving over real distance, but time was passing much slower. This means c is not the same anymore, it's not 360.000 per second but same distance per hour, in example. Because c is lower, energy must also be weaker, but this should be impossible. It makes sense, if object was moving over space slower than ordinary time, than there was less energy in any given moment, per unit of distance. How could energy come back when object stop rotating, c return to normal, so E is same as before time travel into the future. And this can not be, energy can't be created or destroyed,....
One cannot see time. One can only see things moving. Thus in all likelihood time is a concept only. In fact the likelihood strikes me as so great that I'm certain time is a concept only. Absolutely certain. If any can tell me what time is made of then I might reconsider.
If time travel were ever achieved would we not have evidence of someone from the future having visited us at some point in history, assuming that they could somehow make their presence known?
"Is time fixed or flexible?" Here is the paradox. I can't figure out how to set time in my grandfather clock. The pendulum should be hung from a fixed point but after 100 years the point is flexible.
I: time travel, wow will be interesting. After watching Dark. I: shoot, I Don't want it. I don't want my daughter to be my mother. Time travel is bad really bad...
His initial premise that "time and space are the same or something like that" is an incorrect interpretation. From that he uses circular logic to argue that space can be re-used but time cannot be. They are not the same; space and time are one thing together, and we should think of it as "space-time". If we stand at a certain point in space-time we can never be exactly there-then again. Relative to a different location we are never stationary in either time or space.
I think you misunderstood. He said that it is a common misconception that time and space are the same dimentionally and went on to show that they aren't.
I agree, but I would say if we stand at a certain point in space-time, we are always there because we've always been there. See Special Relativity. (Hint: It is the configuration of your brain at a given point in space-time -- what is then in the past -- that gives the illusion of the passage of time, but all configurations of your brain in your lifetime exist because all points in space-time exist. See Block Time. Maybe even an infinitely faceted Block Time. See Many Worlds Interpretation.)
@@cosmikrelic4815 You are misunderstanding my point that his premise is incorrect. Space and time are not the same nor are they different. It is one inseparable thing: space-time. We cannot experience one without the other and each of our experiences of space-time can be different based upon our relative velocities, distance apart, and proximity to a large mass.
I'm anxious as well, because we're probably going to die not understanding anything at all, which is SOOO frustrating. But the idea here I guess is to just beat these subjects to death to keep the conversation alive. I wish science was not so damn slow.
so since this is obvious, that 3d space and time are two completely different things. And, everyone knew this for eons. why do so many people feel used and abused by scientists and thinkers and philosphers who have claimed that time is the fourth dimension. Who is responisble for the lies?
The nature of time is the most simple, it is 'the shadow' of motion, if there were No motion, there would be No time. Actually, the Motion-Principle, is the Only and most Precious Ability of the Eternal Life. The Circuit-Principle, is also a very basic Life-Principle, and all Motion goes in Circuits, (that's why the physicists believe, that space is curved) Well, another importend fact is, that time do Only exists in the Mind of Living Beings. So, Motion become time, and time become time-spaces in our memory, in our consciousness. Well, time is the effect of travel/motion, so You see, We can't travel in time, but the travel 'make' the time. Most people have experiences with De' Ja Vue', to realize earlier realities from past, more often than experience in future. De' Ja Vue' always happends spontan, not under control of the Will, but by the development/time the ability of Sensing in Time, will be a permanent ability, (past and future) Also the Ability of Sensing in Space, something at same time some where else in space. 4-5 months ago I had this experience, saw a video ½ hour, High tide Grange over Sands, Cumbria, when I later wanted to see it again, it was only 8 min. and in a comment I'd mentioned something were missing, but the creator of the video denied that it was longer than 8 min, and after a short korrespondance 'I'd could not get it further. But the surprising fact is to see a video ½ hour, that were only 8 min. Well, this is an example of the commonly very little understood Ability Intuition, but also an, for me, un-expected experience of spontan sensing in time. An interesting aspect is/was, the continue of the same high quality camera-work/style.
Scott is always brilliant. thanks

Time will tell...

sorry 'bout multiple posts - was stuck in a time-loop

Time is just sadness for a human and joy for consciousness but only photons know its meaningless

Yeah, I see it. 😂
Where are they sitting? A ferry or a cruise ship or something?

@@cosmikrelic4815 I'm kind of messing around with words and ideas. There really is no "point" to my paradox ( regarding time ).

It's at the very beginning of the video and there's only one way to interpret his words. His premise regarding Einstein's space-time is not valid.
