- This is a video of the machine I built. It does automatic cutting while running a raspberry pi program. I used the free open shot video editor. You get what you pay for. That program made up its own editing and was terrible. Sawry
Great job Jared. Great commentary throughout and especially at end. You have an amazing talent my friend. Keep up the good work
Great build and thanks for posting video. This is one the most high tech milling machine builds I have seen.
One question: are you running the blade directly on the aluminum rims? Also did you cut or machine the car rims down to make them narrow?
I machined the wheels down using a brake lathe. You should be able to get one used for cheap cause they are worthless. Everyone replaces rotors now instead of turning brake rotors. I machined a groove in the wheels to hold a band saw tire. Here is the link for the ones I use.

hi there well done john
This is amazing and you are a legend.
Thank you!!! My dumbass humbly appreciates that :)
@@j-rodengineering3810 No idea why this doesn't have more views. Probably because it is such a big brain idea. I will say that 8 months after my initial comment i've produced a very basic power feed at the following link: ua-cam.com/video/FbrksyHMkgc/v-deo.html
I'll just declare here that i've acquired an arduino and im coming for the title.
J-Rod, I enjoyed the video and the commentary! I'm proud of you, keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What an incredible machine. Genius. Could it be adapted for use with a gas engine? My property is totally off-grid which precludes the electric motor, but having this level of automation would be sweet! Great work. I'm glad I found your channel.
It could be outfitted with a gas engine easily. My last machine I used a 15 horse- pressure washer engine with a v belt I tightened with a lever to act as a clutch. Could use a pneumatic cylinder and an air solenoid to actuate clutch. The Raspberry pi runs on a USB power so if you had a car battery you could run it for months and would be nice to have electric start for engine.
