Suzanne, thank you so much for getting more people to think about fit and pattern customisations! ❤️ And I am so glad that you have Deb O on the show! I am surprised how often people ignore fitting issues petite bodies may encounter. (I am a 5'1" ... so this is quite personal.) Some people think it's just a matter of making the body and sleeves longer or shorter and it's not comparable to the changes bustier ladies have to make ... and I always disagree (I don't believe in one shape fits all, or more ease = easier to fit, it's all about the proportion), and I think what you demonstrated with Deb (pinching the extra fabric around her neck) has proven just that! So, thank you! I wish I could carry out these experiments with real bodies ... at the moment, I think I can only play with the numbers. And I love slopers!
Thank you for helping us to learn the skills that enable us to fit our knits correctly. We can have the most amazing knitting skills, beautiful patterns and gorgeous yarn but if we can’t fit properly we will always be discouraged with the result. I continue to learn from every episode.
Just found your channel. This was such a great demo for several important concepts. Thank you to all the wonderful women who volunteered! You were key to communicating the ideas visually, and it is extremely helpful to see real bodies when discussing fit, and adjustments to improve fit. Suzanne is clearly knowledgable, I will be looking to see what other gems are to be found in this channel. Good work everyone!
that sweater is just gorgeous....i wish i was half as good as you are, Suzanne....i've only been knitting for four and a half years....right now i am focused on improving my tension
Great video. I hate sizing that tells you to take measurements off a sweater that fits you well. I've NEVER had a sweater that fitted me well, even when I was younger and much smaller. Your videos are helping me work up the courage to knit garments. I'd love to see a demo of how to make your life sized schematics.
Hi Suzanne, I couldn’t watch this session when it was live, but I would like to give you my opinion about the area you asked in south east of Houston. We lived four years in the south-west of Houston, and living there we learned that you need to be aware of two things when looking for a place to live. One is how the area is affected by hurricanes (hurricane season goes from June 1st to November 30th), and two, how the area is affected by floods. Looking at the map, it seems that Clear Lake is very close to the water, really humid and hot, with lots of mosquitoes. On the other hand, it seems that there are planned communities in the area, and that is good, and people from Texas are nice, friendly, and helpful.
This was just a fantastic video - so so so instructive.... I love the colowork on your sweater. QUESTION: when knitting a sweater, how many rows do you knit when alternating between hand dyed yarn, and do you carry that yarn up? Thank you :)
You suggested using 10% ease for bust. Is that for a fingering weight pullover sweater or for a worsted weight cardigan? I thought a 2” ease was appropriate.
You can learn more about ease here - www.craftyarncouncil.com/standards/body-sizing It depends on your personal preferences. 4" is often used for cardigans and is based on a 40" circumference (therefore the 10%). But like you say, it depends on the weight of the fabric you are creating. It is good to use a garment that you like the fit of, and check the ease on it. That will give you a good starting point.
Suzanne have a great trip. Is there someone on Ravelry that I can ask questions about the ITAG Cardigan? I have the pattern just need to have a knitting friend help me along the way. Thank you

Thank you! Good to know.
Have a good time in Scotland and Ireland!
When in Dublin, I highly recommend Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough. It is not far
Thank you!

If I am knitting in the round, I alternate every row. If I am knitting flat, I alternate every other row.

Yes, go to my group - Knitting with Suzanne Bryan, join it. and there are many people on there who can help you.
The sleeves and back look like a Moire pattern, like silk. I think that is what it is called.
Yes, I love that look. Happy knitting.
