It’s good to keep yourself busy sewing, it saved me when I lost my elderly parents.
Fabulous Jayne xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's good you have the patience with trial and error to make something beautiful. I would have lost my mind trying to figure it all out. Love your attentive cat, he makes me smile. Love watching your process.
Love the pink top you have on. It is so sweet. Also like the new one with the scraps you had from other projects. God bless.Keeping busy saves one’s sanity’s.😁🕊️
Thank you so much!
This was fascinating! Thank you for sharing this with us. You know a project is never complete without a Geordie cat scan 🐈🙃
So true! 😂
I loved watching this vlog Our Jayne future pattern in the making 🥰 Geordie made me giggle happy to see that he is still supervising 😂😂🐈⬛🥰
Thanks Lynne x
Loved watching you design and make your top. would love to see you do more of these. Yes, i agree broidery anglaise definitely. Glad you are keeping busy, hope this is helping your grief cariad. Take care
Thank you so much … I have lots of exclusive videos on Patreon if you would like to join me … patreon.com/thedressmakerscloset xx
I loved watching the process of your pattern design. Listening to your comments was very helpful. Great problem solver.
Thank you x
I love your disclaimers--watching you just go for it has given me the courage to do so, too. As you say, at the end of the day, it's just fabric if it doesn't work out, and i always learn from my mistakes. And if it does work out, well, I've made something great to add to my growing wardrobe of all mix-and-match-garments that I love (which, thanks to you, at this time, includes 1 Poppy pinafore, 3 Fleur pinafores, an Ava blouse, and is about to include at least 3 Nell autumn/Winter long-sleeve tops made out of French terry :) ). And I have more corduroy and linen for another pinafore and tops awaiting my attention on my cutting table...
Love the cat antics. It is educational to see the process. We all need to learn the how-tos and how to get there.
Have you ever snipped Georgie’s tail by accident?
No never … I’m always so careful around him xxx
My husband says I am 'like a dog with a bone' trying to get things right. I never give up and it seems you don't either. I am not sewing clothes these days but I like making things with material. Did I hear your cat's name correctly, is it Geordie? Well is seems like he is there to keep you company and help when he can. I can hold that bit down with my tail mum if you'd like? Keep being creative Jayne, you do a good job. 🥰
I love watching process and the outcome looks great love it!
Thanks so much!
What a beautiful top, looks lovely!!

Beautiful top and I love your assistant 😀
Thank you! 😊
Your gathering always looks so neat and even. It has been amazing watching you creat this blouse ❤
Thank you so much 😊
It’s really beautiful blouse I love it x
Thank you! 😊
Very cool, it was interesting to watch you translate your sketch into a pattern. Dart manipulation is really fascinating, just altering one aspect of a pattern can result in so many variations.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it! You've given me an idea to use a beautiful piece of fabric that isn't enough for a full top. Hope your days aren't too long and all the small things bring you joy xxx
Loved this-watching your creative process is amazing. I’ve been where you are right now and having a creative mind is good to help in the hard times x
Thank you x
Lovely as usual 😊
Thank you! 😊
I think it looks lovely! ❤
Thank you! 😊
❤very nice
Thank you! Cheers!
Such a sweet little blouse! You’re so clever! The pink blouse with the gingham on top and ruffle on bottom you are wearing, is that one of your creations? It’s darling!!!🌷❤️🇨🇦 thank you once again for such a lovely video
Oh thank you! Yes it’s my next sewing pattern which is launching end of August The Dolly Top x
Love this top Jane, although I’m not a frills and ruffles girl, I think it looks beautiful on you ❤️
It really is lovely!
Thank you x
You do some really great tops I love your style and how and what you style them with. Xxx
Thanks so much xx
Thanks for sharing your creative process! I love this type of content as I also create from an idea in my head. I did a couple of courses in pattern construction long ago, made my own blocks for top and skirt, but I rarely use them. Either I copy and tweak a RTW garment or I use a similar pattern and tweak it. I can see that it probably would have been easier for you to create this blouse if you’d used draping on your manequin, but I never do that myself either. It’s a whole other school of pattern construction.
When I saw your struggles with the sleeve band I thought of an other way. You could make the sleeve longer, hem it with a narrow hem, add the gathering stitches a couple of cm (or whatever) to create a ruffle. And to cover the gathering stitches you sew the white band on top. If you make the band double you would probably stop the blue fabric to show through as well. To make it easier you can also do this before you sew the sleeve seam.
An other suggestion I have regarding the neck ruffle. If you put the ruffle in to a collarstand it will be more upright, if you see what I mean. In the early 80th I made some blouses and also my sister’s weddingdress with that type of ”victorian” neck ruffle and they were constructed like that. Thanks again for sharing! ❤️
Thank you so much for your commitment and advice xxx
What a lovely design, Jayne! 😘 It looks as though your button holes worked out well, too. I’m picking out a failed buttonhole this morning. 😂 Three beautiful test buttonholes and then the third of seven on the shirt really messed up!
Oh no!
You are amazing jayne, im a new subscriber, im going thru all your videos, your very talented lady take care❤xx
Thanks so much 😊
Love it, can you do a dress version, I will for sure buy the dress version pattern, Love the blouse but I rather to wear dresses
Great idea!
Your finished blouse is pretty on you. Having buttons up the back would not be a good idea for me. I would not be able to button it up by myself. This is a very nice usable sample. It would have to be a little longer to hide the top of my pants and skirts (which never lay flat on me). It looks comfortable.
I wonder how many of us who love to sew at home have cats? I have trained my cats to pay attention to a small spray bottle filled with plain tap water. Usually just setting that bottle on my work table gets their attention quickly. It may be the spray of water; but, I think it was the sound the bottle makes, that got their attention the first time I used it. Many of the tools I use are sharp. I don't want my cats getting injured; and, I don't want to be injured because one of my cats took my mind off what I was doing. The only other option I have is to lock them out of my sewing room (which doesn't make them, or me, happy).
I admire your persistence in getting the Garment just as you like it! I'm not sure I would have the patience!
Thank you! 😊
So sorry, Georgie does make me laugh 😂
So lovely as always!
Thank you! 😊
That was interesting to watch.I didn't realise you were not professionally trained, you are so talented. Can you suggest any books or UA-cam channels that you have used that would help me understand the process. I like the end result
My husband bought me a book a few years ago and that’s the one I’ve been learning from images.app.goo.gl/HixTNdq3WCbJyAyM9
I love this process that you go through. And it was so much fun to watch it. I feel like I would go through the same way if I had half the talent that you do. The top turned out really nice. I think for an optional version I would put a small band of white at the end of the top so when you leave it out of your jeans, you get that additional color block. But the way you’ve made it here is absolutely perfect in my mind. Thank you so much for doing this for all of us.
Thank you so much!
I”m not a garment sewer so I find it fascinating to watch you figure out how to design a pattern- you are so talented! BTW, I love the top you have on at the end- the pink floral with gingham- really cute!
Oh thank you! Yes it’s my next sewing pattern launching 31.8.23 The Dolly Top x
I think this blouse is gorgeous!!! You have so much patience Jane! This was fascinating to watch. Would you consider turning this into a pattern? I would definitely purchase it ❤ Thank you for sharing - you are very clever. Best wishes Liz xx
Yes, absolutely thank you 😊
I love the pink top you have on. Is it one of your sale items or just your own?
It’s The Dolly Top sewing pattern which is launching 31st August xx
Hi Jane just discovered your videos love them. Could I ask do you have a Middlesbrough accent? I now live in Bristol but all my family are still in Boro.
I’m from Billingham which is not far xxx
You certainly have a lot of patience with your cat!!! It would drive me bonkers!!!! Great pattern!
Thank you! 😊
