Next time, I'm out-sourcing my review to Russia, where President Trump can have his homies protect me from a certain touchy manufacturer. I should have learned that lesson from you, Nick ;). Thanks for the inspiration, my friend! Thought I'd carry on the tradition of parody and sarcasm.
It's nice to see a CZ-75 trigger on a Medford. When my jaws of life broke down, I tore open the top of an MG convertible with one of those to rescue some vegan kale farmers with rescue dogs.
Rob I'm not a Medford hater at all in fact I liked my 187DPT when I had it but I just can't get over the size of the flipper it's crazy and looks ridiculous.
Kevin cleary I know.. I saw your review of the DPT, and took note of your questionable sanity, brother. But ridiculous as that flipper tab is, unlike most of Medford's design elements, it works amazingly well! Take care, and don't forget to start that "Will Moon is awesome!" thread on BF 😉
Gotta agree. I got a 187f and, disregarding having to deal with Medford customer service, the knife itself is nice. That long flipper is shaped like a gun trigger; long, ugly, but works. I have never really found it to be obtrusive when in pocket, but I usually designate my knife pocket just for my knife. I took mine down to about 14 degrees, with an 18 deg micro. It was amazingly consistent, but the finger choil didn't go past the plunge, so I got a little flair in the rear. Cut that big ole finger choil, and still miss the plunge? Boggling.
For half the price I would argue the Grayman Dua is very comparably made with maybe not as much detail paid to finishing but again... half the price. I much prefer Cpm-20cv to D2 as well.
Refined Edge I own both and they are very similar in size. The trigger flipper on the 187 works great as a guard, and the action is better on the 187. Not having the flipper on the Dua makes it more pocketable. Both great little thick knives!
good to hear Robert. the 187 is also one I like from Medford Knife and Tool. I wished he would be just a bit more " practical " able his pricing. with D2 tool steel this knife should come in more at $325-$400 but that's just mho. with tons of other American made knives using better steels and costing about the same as the 187 it's not rocket science on what some are going to do. also some of them offer there knives in left handed models for the same cost. I just can't see putting out for a knife of the same quality if another company can offer one as good in a left handed model with better steel. $500-$700 is alot of money to spend and not be able to use it as your main carry but as your back up. just my $.02. not that it matters much. Cheers from California
Rob,Fundamentally, how is it that this 187 review was so much different than the 187 RMP review? They are basically the same knife with the exception of the flipper.
Haha. To all those gloved tactical knife reviewers. A little Dremel will do ya. Oh and don't TAKE IT APART! Your oil is inferior to my jet fuel, jet engine unicorn oil. If I see any removed, altered, mixed or tampering I will charge your $350 to disassemble, reapply and ship back.
Look, most guys collecting knives play with them and put them in a drawer. They don't have to make sense as an EDC. I'm glad you didn't trash Medford. I found Nick Shabazz's review excessively negative and I wonder if some of that had to do with politics. Really liked gloves guy.
Your bias against Medford makes me laugh. Medford caters to a very narrow but specific group of professional users, not a bunch of armchair commando paper slicers. His materials, tolerances and overall quality, fit and finish cost. If you are one of those closet mechanics that must go poking around inside your knife, and are too stupid enough to put it back together, you can always out all the parts back in a plastic bag, and have your mommy send it back to Greg so his son Jack can put it back together for you.... great channel !
Edmund Dworakowski Are you Greg's brother-in-law? That is truly the funniest comment I've had in a very long time! Thanks for the laugh. I needed that today!
Edmund Dworakowski oh please. Everyone with the word "tactical" in a knife name has some bullshit speech about how it's for "operators". If his stuff is for the super elite whatever's, why use a steel prone to rusting, why have it reflective, why not just make a fixed blade, etc. he's arrogant, thinks his time is worth as much as jesus' himself. I own a 187 and the paper he sends with it is laughable. Half is arrogance and the other half is saying don't worry that it sucks. And that's just broad stroke, that's not even the issues specific to my knife
Meh, like the design, but just buy a dpx, that tab is awful why not incorporate a wave type design like the hest? Only thing the dpx needs is a ss lock bar insert
This was an absolutely wonderful video in both the parody & actual review. Even though I find some level of reason in portions of Greg's philosophy, I get irritated as all hell by the lemming-esque dialogue echo which was quite accurately imitated in the intro (which gave me quite a chuckle). Medfords simply have some quite nice qualities & some undesirable qualities, they aren't perfect nor horrible & you displayed this well...even though I'm sure Medford-heads will still pounce on this video despite a surprisingly positive end-result by ApostleP standards. Love seeing such honest folding reviews, like always! ...Though that flipper tab is laughably atrocious.
Chris RTW Agreed. I have a lot of expensive knives...definitely more than I reasonably should, but Medfords are kind of just weird and don't seem to make a whole lot of sense for the money. They are nice knives, don't get me wrong. They just don't seem to make as much sense as you would hope for the money, and kind of feed off of fads. Again, if you like Medford, that's totally fine. They just don't make sense for me.
Would anybody here have any direction they could point me into to sell a knife? I have a Vintage 1950's EIG CUTLERY Balisong Butterfly Knife Made in Italy. Im really not a serious knife collector im sure someone would enjoy it much more than me.
Man, I hate it when some jackass hijacks my channel. My sympathies. Nice prybar.

It seems that Nick's mysterious stranger has an American Compatriot . The lighter side of Rob .

It's supposed to look like a gun. Guns are one of their design inspirations
Great review Rob! I am really wanting to pick one of this model up. Thanks for your honesty with it.
That flipper lol,,,, like the leg lamp in A Christmas Story,,, it's Fragile ~ Fra gee lee
That knife is beautiful in every way but one. The flipper tab needs a bolt cutter and dremel tool to re-work it into something less ludicrous.
Did you take some inspiration from Nick Shabazz's review of the Praetorian? ;)

It's a head shaker, Jef. It never ceases to amaze me how many makers just plain don't understand this basic concept.
That one appears pretty smooth to flip. The one bought and subsequently returned was impossible to break in.

Rob,
Is the PVD blade on these any different than the standard Vulcan "unfinished" blade as far as corrosion resistance?

Is this flipper shaped like that help you fish out thinks from your pocket?
It's official, I'm out of the loop on getting the satire of this intro : )
Keep up the great work over here my friend!
CampfireTalk Well, don't lose any sleep over it, brother. I'm quite sure you can survive being out of this loop 😉
great video, thanks for the chuckle !
"Weighs about 3 pounds" LOL
Your trademark edge looks amazing on the Medford!
Funny vid, still wont touch medford with a stick.
I wish they would add a "real" flipper tab. That little nub will NEVER help opening a knife that great...
With the knife closed that flippy thing looks like the hammer spur on a Colt saa...
Pretty sure that's the point
@TheApostleP - do you find D2 harder to sharpen than s35vn? contemplating a medford but I feel that s35vn would be a better choice over D2.
I don't find D2 noticeably harder to sharpen than S35, and it holds an edge better than S35. Where it's lacking is in corrosion resistance.
Okay awesome great to know! I always heard about people complaining how hard it is to sharpen. Thanks!
Best video you have made. Very enjoyable and funny. Solid content.
Every time I see your review, I want one more and more.
That was some excellent acting, Rob!! 😂

Very good satire. God bless you sir.
My favorite Medford blade!!!!
Can u file that flipper down and would it still work. Otherwise that is a deal breaker
Well it ALMOST makes me want a Medford. Almost.
Hahahaha! Why would you want anything else? I'm convinced!
loved it rob!!!!! best video ever
To each his own. Not my thing, but it is still interesting for sure.
You should warn that Apossel fella about his language. Nice looking edge!
Still ridiculous, Now just with an edge...
I'm not big on Medford but that's a good looking blade
I like this new guy
Pound Cake is way better than a Fruit Cake. 😂😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Cuz it's 187 on a undercover cop! Lmfao. that flipper tab is ugly tho
Omagosh, lol!

Rob tell us the truth, did that intruder hold you at gun point and make you give this Medford a positive review??
Did I sound nervous to you?
Can't wait for the clone.
Everyone hating on these really makes me want one!!
I genuinely laughed
187 on a undercover cop!
wow thats a ridiculous flipper tab
lol rob you're one funny man!

Oh my. Fugettaboutit
$425 for that....ehhhh no thanks.

Not to mention Greg Medford has made himself known as a huge douche
😂😂😂
Man your Medford impersonation was hilarious. I kindof like this knife, but for the price....meh.
Ohhh a folding prybar! Why'd you sharpen the edge? It's not like it can cut anything...
LOVE MEDFORD and HATE darkriver
:D

Jimmy Crackcorn message Rob, he does knife sales on this channel
I thought that flipper was a joke someone had modded
Medford knives are silly.
Looks like a trigger
Weights about 3lb lol
Yea flipper is to big
@NickShabazz
This is like funny joke? Almost like Comrad Nicok' s video and make fun of Medford knife at same time.
How Christian of you, mocking another like that.
