Wasn't their an extensive research report by a professor in Harvard or Yale (I forgot) which said building new roads, increasing public transportation is not the solution to the traffic problem. I don't remember the details cause it came as a sat reading comprehension for me but i think ot was an extremely imp peice
Building bridges is not the solution. Removing one way roads and carefully understanding where we need one way and where we don't should be the solution. Majority of the traffic is because people have to travel more than 1 km just to take U-turn.

Widening the roads and building more flyovers only makes traffic problems worse as it brings more vehicles on the road. The solution is to build more public transit.
Thanks Rishika Kashyap & Deccan herald for creating this video. Very well articulated. We definitely need to figure out alternate modern tech and methods to solve these problems rather than the usual flyovers by cutting down trees.
There is no tech, space is space & when you build roads with less space it will remain the same. We need a new planned greenfield city, exterior makeup won't change anything.

We have lost a lot of tree cover in the city in the name of development and infrastructure solutions and easing traffic. But we still have traffic pileups on every road. By planning with the experts including the citizens with whose money all this work is taken up, we should find solutions. The Sankey road has traffic pileups only at certain hours of the day. We see this on literally every road. So we should learn to cope up with the traffic rather than cutting trees. By making concrete jungles and installing ACs we make the earth warmer. We are already seeing the impact of global warming all over the world. Let us make efforts to save the trees.

@@VKP-i5icutting down trees is a small price for what? A flyover that will get filled with cars within a few months? At this rate Bangalore would need to build another layer of roads over its existing road network. Building flyovers is never the solution to traffic problems, it just shifts the point of congestion from one pont to another.
