I immediately thought, let's have fun.... How long a line of sight you got to the blockage? If you can get some distance, go for some tannerite! 🤣🤣 Or more safely, (kinda) some black powder
4:33 i'd get a long sturdy pipe, weld a hydraulic jack from an engine hoist at the end, put a chisel end on the ram and then by poking the pipe in the ground/wall of the mine, push against the rocks with the power of hydraulics. That's how we cleared a huge, Mini (car) sized boulder from a cave once. Unless someone else did it before us, we might be the first nutcases to have ever brought a generator, stick welder and sections of pipe inside a cave, bit by bit so we could do this. :)) I used to do some pretty stupid things when i was younger.
You said you can't use Dynamite, but what about some old fashioned Cherry Bombs? You may not need a whole lot of *bang* to loosen enough of those rocks to get them to move.
The amount of material removed is so impressive between the two of you and a few volunteers. You’ve moved so many tons with so many more tons to go. Great job guys.
That’s pretty neat and hardwork! Congrat! Just be sure to put some stull eventually, drawing all that muck the side of the stope goes back pressure as they muck out in the past and probably came down.
To clear your rock jam, fill your ore cart to overflowing. Wrap one end of your longest chain around the rock you want to move. Attach the other end of your long chain to the ore cart. Then see how fast you can push the ore cart.
Attach a rope to the front of the cart as well and then pull the cart to a roll instead of pushing it that way you won't be in harm's way of the rock coming down or if the chain on the rock snaps
It looks like you are starting to lose access to some of those upper passages. Maybe you can install some anchors in the walls as the rock pile is being reduced.
Yes that is true. However we can access them by roping down to them from above. We are also planning on building and installing a lot of ladders and stairs.
Also heating up the rock with fire then spray cold water on it with a super soaker squirt gun or a garden hose with a squirt nozzel. And wear safety glasses
Man, y'all are crazy! I wish I could be there to help. You don't want no busted up half crippled man though. I would if I could though. You need to put in a kick switch and siding so one cart can be ready as the other goes out. I know, I'm not doing the work am I. Just be safe you guys. Cheers Terry from South Carolina USA
Lol I love how Sharon calls you Franklin , reminds me of being called to the principles office 😂😂😂, gee I wish I lived closer, would love to volunteer my time to help see your dreams come true . Keep up the good work guys cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks Frank and Sharon, it seems like you've moved a mountain already and it keeps coming! I can't wait for the day when progress is measured in visitors and not ore cart loads!!
It's surprising how fast a person can get lost in a mine thinking the shafts goes one way but in reality it's the same shaft at a different prospective . Great Friday night entertainment Frank and Sharon !
You must do a security checkup before you open the mine for püblic! How to do it? Take the Addicts, let them play so loud as never before ! All lose stuff will come down and after the concert there will be no need to wear a helmet! lol ! I am amazing looking forward to the opening date! Holding all thumbs that it will become a huge sucsess for you and all your helping hands in the surrounding!
Thanks guys it's been an amazing experience to watch you bring the Yankeeboy back to life can't wait to see what you find beyond the next slide alot of people are doing the mine exploration videos but you guys are on a hole different level lol keep up the good work friends and be careful
Rocks can be moved by using a highly energetic chemical reaction. The old timers used a mixture of 75% potassium nitrate, 15% willow charcoal, and 10% sulfur. Put it in a ball mill for 24 hours. It needs to be compressed so drill a hole or put it in an iron pipe. Fuse burns at 40 seconds per foot so you can give it enough time.
Such a high quality, informative and friendly show. Sharon and Frank work like troopers, they are amazing. When you were using the jack and stone kept rumbling down, I pretty much held my breath - phew! great job. Love and greatest respect to you both ❤👷🏻♂⛏👷🏻♀⛏ ❤.
Get the fire blazing hot under those boulders, then spray ice cold water on them. Just an idea. I’ve never done it but have heard the old timers used that method in certain situations. Enjoying the videos 👍🏻
Maybe expanding grout would work instead of dynamite. You would have to have a way to drill a few holes in those rocks. We've used it before works amazingly well. We bought ours off of amazon
In the mines I've worked at we'd try to break that rock up with a stoper or jackleg. Lot easier to get the drill hammering on it than using a jack or manual scaling. Not sure if you can run air hose to where that is though.
@@exploringabandonedmines Absolutely. What I mean is if we saw hangers like that we'd put some percussion to them and try and break them up. If it's stuck in the drawpoint its too big, and nobody wants to be under something like that if they can help it!
I believe you are right, most of it is probably mental! Thank you, Frank & Sharon, great work, and a bit more cleared out! Remember those old mines with those sticks of Dyn O Mite in them? Well maybe nitro now, never mind. See ya next Friday!
Hey Frank, long time viewer and subscriber and alway enjoy your explores & work at the Yankee boy. Question for you… why is your muck waste that you’re carting out and land sliding down seem to have so much fine ‘dirt’ in it? It looks like perfectly graded bedding material with that much fines (dirt) in it. I would have thought that mining / blasted waste rock would be a little courser in the broken gravel size. Just wondering your thoughts on that.
You could try tannerite, it's legal in Canada nad any gun shop should have it. it's a reactive target explosive, and it dons't burn clean so you'd need ventilation, but it would probably work if you stuck 5 lbs in there. You'd have to figure out how to set it off without a rifle or access to blasting caps. Either that or you stop by the plumbing section of the hardware store. Oh, and don't forget pick up some smokeless powder for reloading your bear rifle... just don't film it. (you tube doesn't like "gun content" 😉😉) That would actually be a funny time to use one of those finger snap jump cuts. walk around the corner to the pile, hole up for fingers and SNAP! the rocks are moved. no context, you're just a rock wizard now. I'd also use a "wizard stick" to stabilize that stope you opened up, toss one in and let the concussion stabilize it. there's actually a few spots were there are big dirt clods clinginging to the ribs that could probably be cleared up with a loud boom
Hello. I'm curious about the material coming down. There's so much of it, like they just quit working. It's just waste material? So was it just stored rather than removed? Or plugged or, what's the deal?
It is part of the hanging wall, footwall or ore passages. All this material was removed to access the white quartz that contained the gold and silver they were after. As they worked the stope higher they left the material behind so they could stand on it.
I'm not sure, but you look at Sierra Blasters in the us or something possibly similar in Canada to use on small Boulders
😎😎Work smarter...not harder! AND be S-A-F-E! Rock On!
You could also use ANFO in a pipe with a shell casing blasting cap and booster charge just make what you use and off camera of course
I immediately thought, let's have fun.... How long a line of sight you got to the blockage? If you can get some distance, go for some tannerite! 🤣🤣

I subbed yrs ago you were doin this, now you own a mine? Yt is good 😊
Great adventure opening up your mine. I'd be worried about those slides cutting off my escape. Keep on mucking.
You and me both!
Sharon is one tough cookie stronger than most men
Way to clear that slide Sharon !!
Oh man. less than a minute in and seeing that pelican laying there just makes me crack up remembering it detaching on Sharon when she was above.
4:33 i'd get a long sturdy pipe, weld a hydraulic jack from an engine hoist at the end, put a chisel end on the ram and then by poking the pipe in the ground/wall of the mine, push against the rocks with the power of hydraulics.

Dynamite is the answer. Well maybe not the answer but blowing up stuff you got to love!
6:00 So the old timers would have used a long stick with one stick on dynamite to dislodge and rocks, apparently over and over until it moves.
Thanks again Frank and Sharon love the I'm a bit more crazy .
You said you can't use Dynamite, but what about some old fashioned Cherry Bombs? You may not need a whole lot of *bang* to loosen enough of those rocks to get them to move.

Over 1300 loads trammed out so far!
Do you know how many tons 1300 load would be?
Great video, cheers!

thanks for video!... scary watching stuff come down at you guys! be careful!
So invested in this series right now, great video as always guys!
Wow this is very interesting to watch. Stay safe in there guys ✌
Thank you! Will do!
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
You would need to get some 36-0-0 that you can't get anymore
That’s pretty neat and hardwork! Congrat! Just be sure to put some stull eventually, drawing all that muck the side of the stope goes back pressure as they muck out in the past and probably came down.
Stulls in narrow vertical stopes like that are more to support work platforms than to holding the ribs from collapsing. The walls are pretty solid.
Do you guys anticipate getting paste this block to see whats beyond?
Yes...any day now!
Thanks Frank and Sharon! Every video now seems to open up new areas to explore - and brings new slides. Please stay safe!!
That's is away to start a weekend Thanks Sharon & Frank. Great treasures.

I just watched the video from 6 years ago and it’s amazing how much work you have accomplished!
Be Safe!
Thanks for another great video!! These video make me Want to go look for mines to get into and explore.
Ever think of lightning off a couple bear scares inside these areas to see what might come loose??
Make a boom for sure

Better safe than sorry, because there is no sorry, there is only the end, love the videos
I would really like to see more of you're mine exploring covering different mines.
We have been exploring mines all over North America for the last 8 years. Lots of videos of other mines on the channel!
That brave chicken is more brave than I. I certainly enjoy watching all these mine explorations.
Please keep the great videos coming friend from Scotland
Fascinating show. Y’all take care now. 👍🙏
Thanks, you too!
Hope you get those big boulders out a safe way, there is still a lot off work too do, great job guys.

Love your posts! Hey... this could be called: 'MINE your own Business.'
I like that
Frank, there's not many men who can boast about making the earth move, you can literally
And even fewer Women who can say their Man make the earth move for them.....>GRIN
@@scottstewart3884 Sharon can most definitely say that, but would she.
I enjoy watching all that earth move, with a little help from you.😁
Glad to hear it!

That rock can be stubborn!
Thanks, Frank, and Thanks, Sharon! Awesome vid as always.
Our pleasure!
I can't wait to do the underground ropes course with Frank n Sharron !
You will need your own gear.
@exploringabandonedmines I have a ton of rock climbing gear and experience.
I have also been exploring mines since the early 90s
Get the fire blazing hot under those boulders, then spray ice cold water on them. Just an idea. I’ve never done it but have heard the old timers used that method in certain situations.
Enjoying the videos 👍🏻
Amazing, stay safe guys ⛏
What an adventure you 2 are having 👍.
Pete Australia 🇦🇺
Get Jason from Mt. Baker Mining & Metals he uses the big stuff and Dan Hurd Dan uses some nice fire cracker size dynamite to crack rocks
keep on digging
Frank my idea was to get some black powder
We can get that but it has much less force than dynamite
Good stuff, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
one stick of dynamite will clear that rock out at the 4:12 mark, hehe!
Maybe expanding grout would work instead of dynamite. You would have to have a way to drill a few holes in those rocks. We've used it before works amazingly well. We bought ours off of amazon
We have some. Never tried it yet
You got nerves of steel .🪜🪜🪜
Looks like fun, thanks for the video.
Blast it Frank, just blast it!! Lol. 🤔😉
Nice vid! Recently subscribed and the content is great! May I respectfully suggest some suspenders or longer shirts? hehe...
Frank check out the ezebreak micro blaster on line you might maybe to use this in your mine.
In the mines I've worked at we'd try to break that rock up with a stoper or jackleg. Lot easier to get the drill hammering on it than using a jack or manual scaling. Not sure if you can run air hose to where that is though.
They were leaving the waste rock in the stopes so they didn't care how big the rocks were.
@@exploringabandonedmines Absolutely. What I mean is if we saw hangers like that we'd put some percussion to them and try and break them up. If it's stuck in the drawpoint its too big, and nobody wants to be under something like that if they can help it!

Yep bang stick. No tnt available? 1” pipe 12” long 2 end caps filled with black power (long fuse) not as good as TNT but will clear things out a bit.
We have done that before.
As always great video thanks again for taking us along on your journey to the end of the mine.cant wait for next week's video.
Thanks 👍
Could you not use a hammer drill on the rocks it should move it all with vibration good luck Kev UK
I don't know why, but this feels more sketch to me than some of the mines you guys explored. I hope you all stay safe.
It kind of is in some ways!
Hey Frank, long time viewer and subscriber and alway enjoy your explores & work at the Yankee boy. It looks like perfectly graded bedding material with that much fines (dirt) in it. I would have thought that mining / blasted waste rock would be a little courser in the broken gravel size. It is the nature of the rock. A high percentage of the waste rock is pulverized during blasting. There is a mixture of fine and course material.
Hello Frank. Is all that rock and dirt you're bringing down waste rock that they stashed away in areas above that they mined out?
Yes it is backfill from shrinkage stopes.
lookin good mates . you guys are putting in some hard yards .
black powder like the old days
We called them scoop picks
I get so scared for you guys. All the rocks falling. Could trap you. Please stay safe my friends.you two are such amazing people. See ya next week.
I am so glad you like my comment. Àlways here.
Would you put a few anchors in those chutes your stuck in and clip on? I'm not a fan of you digging where you stand. Be safe 😃
I have no way of sinking anchors
Love ❤️ u guys.
Bye jack👋
I know in Ontario you need a PAL to buy ammunition but do not to buy components like black powder
👍
Thought Frank was in trouble on that slide with all the gravel and large rocks coming at him.
I hate it when I'm mining and hit a gravel pocket.
The finer material is mixed with the course material.

We did that before years ago.
fire heat the rock, then hit it with water
So how did all that small stuff get there?
The miners drilled and blasted it.
@@exploringabandonedmines I am just wondering why they left it there.
Have you found anyone alive that worked the Yankee Boy?
John and Steve Kleman last worked the mine in 1942 both have passed. I have spoken to their children.
You should write the date on the golf balls before you toss them down so you know just how long that one was up there
Good idea!
That's backfill your removing? Should you be getting rid of it?
I have no choice if I want to access the main haul level
Any value in that muck, High grading quartz? Looks somewhat dangerous with all the loose material coming down.
I could maybe sell it to someone building a driveway.
Make your own Frank I know you know how LOL
Black powder works, just not that great.
