Maestro Bernstein vs José Carreras (1984)

A very young Carreras does not get along very well with Leonard Bernstein during the West Side Story recording sessions (1984). Eventually he asks if he wants to rehearse a part on his own but the session is over, the producer explains when they will meet again. Bernstein snorts, Carreras blurts out and despite being Spanish snorts with impeccable Italian. ©BBC 2015

Before anyone disparages Jose Carreras you should know that he was a replacement and third choice for this recording. Jerry Hadley was scheduled but withdrew with little notice.
