    I just love binge watching your videos. Been a while since you posted hope all is well ❤️. I’ve always been obsessed with the look of the 50s and the music. Reminds me a lot of my mom. Always in a beautiful well-fitted dress, her hair curled and pinned with matching heels.

    I’m 54 and I have every intention of making one of these dresses when I get the right fabric. I figure if people don’t like to look at my arms they can look away

    Gorgeous dresses. The petticoats remind me of some I had when I was a preteen. I had one net petticoat, with multiple flounces on the lower few inches and one was was lawn with cord in the flounce seams - rope petticoat. I loved them. I enjoy watching your videos and have learnt so much from your clear explanations and demonstrations. I also love the bolero. I had a couple of those too when I was growing up in the late fifties. Thank you.

    I love the point you made about shoulders as my shoulders drop a fair wee bit and I have a small hunch in my back so straps are my nemesis!!!

    I just found your channel, before the 5 min mark of this video I already subbed. I LOVE your look!! This is exactly what I want to recreate with a nod to 17th C + fashion in the silhouette of 40s and 50s!

    On this dress I'm thinking of geting this dress. But my problem is at this moment I have a 31 upper chest and a 40 chest acrost the natural girls and 30 under bust! How would I be able to get the cups to fit properly in with out it puckering or the girls falling out the top of it with gaping from pouting a to large of cup in a smaller botes? I have had this issue somenny times but I love your pattern and I have never had one fit wrong on me I usaly poutdifrit sizes together to get it to fit and it always looks amazing your patterns make it rilly easy to do what I need! And as you sead in this video the one you made befor it cut at the wrong place of the girls it cut mine rite in half and i hated the dress but the dress is beautiful gust did not work for me! But this one goes under and i love it and wont it!

      Marilyn Kolako what size are you looking for? This pattern goes up to a size 20 dress size, with separate A-H cup sizes.

    I love the 40s looks personally. The 50s skirts are too big for me. Make more 40s stuff plz!!!

      KayBeeWolf they’re not 40’s looks. Wiggle skirts came in to fashion in the mid to late 50’s. While the larger, Dior new look inspired skirts became popular in 1947 onwards. Wartime 1940’s fashion was very boxy, masculine and utilitarian. It was designed to be practical and very economical with the amount of fabric used. 1940’s skirts are generally knee length pleated skirts, and had strict rules about amount and depth of pears and how many buttons could be used due to war time rationing.

      I am aware. Which is why i was suggesting she make more 40’s looks as the 50’s looks are too big for me.

    With the Liz bodice would you say we need a bra or not? Thank you. Love your books and patterns

      Yes, I would recommend a bra. I talk about specific bra recommendations in the video--and definitely read the foundation garment section in the fitting chapter.

    I wear a 22 store made dress. Are your dress patterns true to size or can I not use your patterns?

    • @GertiesWorld
      @GertiesWorld  3 роки тому

      Our sizes are based on body measurements, not RTW dress sizes. We do have all the measurement charts available on the charm website. You can peruse them and see if the size range will work for you. charmpatterns.com/shop/liz-dress/

    I found you through the Goodhousekeeping channel while trying to pearn how to use my late Mothers sewing machine for the elastic strap on my homemade alien mask. Will you marry me?
