This old lady was the dictionary definition of a sociopath. Even McGarrett was stunned by her cold and apathetic response to all the people she was responsible for murdering. This was one of the darkest episodes in the series.
When you drop Magarretts jaw in disbelief/loss of words you've accomplished something not too many of his criminals did in the entire series. This is as creepy as it gets.
I know, right? McGarrett had a WTF look on his face. He was totally dumbfounded by her cold indifference to everything she and her family did. Usually, when he tells his team to 'book' the suspect, he usually says it boldly. Here, he says it with an emotionless tone due to his stunned reaction and him trying to process everything that happened. Great acting all around.
McGarrett is appalled at hearing the woman's rationalization. One of the creepiest episodes, but a good one. I think it was based, in part, on the story of a real serial killer.
I know, right? McGarrett had a WTF look on his face after heating her twisted logic. He had been a cop for years, and thought he seen and heard it all. However listening to her being calm and unphased by her actions left him dumbstruck. Even his order for them them to be booked by him seemed more subdued than usual due his shock from everything he witnessed.
"They was dead. what do they want with money when they was dead" you won't hear that on "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES", but Barbara Baxley sure gets a hundred thumbs up for her chilling remarks from "HAWAII FIVE-O"s "A Family of Killers" segment.
Sadie Furgerson had a cold heart of stone...... yes a sociopath. "Sam, Jeb, Monica, Lysette time for talking" I wonder what happened to Monica in the end.
One of the better episodes in a series with a ton of great ones. This season in particular had some outstanding episodes- Hookman, Draw me A Killer, etc.
I haven't seen many but that is the best episode I have seen its creepy and deranged the mother at the end trying to justify 150 murders in her own warped morals I hope the actress got an award for that
People like the momma she had no heart. She has a heart of stone. Watching that scene sent chill bumps up and down my spine. Just her making the statements was creepy. You talking about a psychopath, she is one.
I've been "involved" with two women who had cold hearted sociopathic mothers like this-I absolutely LOVE this episode as it parallel's some similarities I lived through (not murder) but robbery to which I was naive and unaware-I was declared deceased once and she was collecting widows insurance-we weren't even married-the other "x" was psychologically damaged by her mother, even to this day, to the point she's afraid of her. I was lucky to escape both nightmares.
One of the few times where McGarrett was left speechless. The look on his face as the old lady's telling him all that. 'Nightmare In Blue' is another creepy one, I think from the same season as this, actually. . A rapist/murderer posing as a uniform patrol cop, and... you can guess the rest.
I remember this when I was little over 40 years ago...i remember the mute daughter marking her pad every time a customer left the salon? or something....that was a creepy episode! I would love to get these on DVD sometime
Yep, that was Bo Hopkins. This episode is called "One Big Happy Family," and I believe you can find it online - as you can "Nightmare In Blue," another creepy one.
Susan Spatz you're so right the original is way much better than the awful remake that's on now CBS rebooted Hawaii Five-O in 2010 saw it one time but it wasn't as good as the old timeless classic that goes back to the year I was born 1968 12 incredible seasons of the classic detective show then it was real at the end of EVER Y episode McGarretts famous catchphrase Book em Danno
too see the stunned expersion on his face. Is proof that even as head of 5-0. There are still things and people that can even surprise him and leave him cold.
1:28 "What's your name"....he got some later that night " 2:40 Her logic is impeccable. They killed people in order to steal from them, since stealing from a dead person isn't really stealing. And they killed people that didn't count since "they wasn't kin".
The Original Five-O team has captured the following: Slim Pickens, Andy Griffith, Buddy Ebsen, William Shatner, Gavin McLeod, Ross Martin, Ricardo Montablan, and God knows how many other criminals in Hawaii. I know it's a TV show, but unfortunately there's people that commit crimes and don't have any remorse.
I'm no specialist in English language since it's not my mother language, but isn't the old witch not even able to conjugate the verbs as simple as to be or to have?!
No doubt these are relatives of the family from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I would not be surprised if they ate some of their victims by making them into barbecue.
I wouldn't be surprised if this family and the Firefly family aka The Devil's Rejects end up on the t.v. show Family Feud together! This episode is very creepy. Very evil and grim!
Undoubtably the best and most eerie episode in the series. Actress Barbara Baxley should have won an Emmy for her performance.
The professional Five-O guys McGarrett, Danno, and Chin Ho all unsettled and wincing and all thinking: "...seriously?"
This old lady was the dictionary definition of a sociopath. Even McGarrett was stunned by her cold and apathetic response to all the people she was responsible for murdering. This was one of the darkest episodes in the series.
Actress Barbara Baxley 1923-1990, played her part well.
most disturbing episode of the series
Yes, I have all the seasons on DVD and I always skip this one.
Loved Bo Hopkins in this one. One other I found equally disturbing as this one was Nightmare in Blue.
When you drop Magarretts jaw in disbelief/loss of words you've accomplished something not too many of his criminals did in the entire series. This is as creepy as it gets.

It dumbfounded him. Lol. He couldn’t believe it
Episode inspired by the Manson murders.

@@DBarns7 Think McGarrett and the Five-O guys need some time off after this case to recover.
@@artytoons~ lol> Yeah! You're probably right. They more than earned a vacation after this case. 😆
You will never find a more cold blooded evil woman then the one in one big happy family
My favorite show growing up. This episode was the most memorable. Jack Lord was stunned and played it well. Hawaii looks a tad different these days.
Jack Lord's supporting cast was always great! Amazing show.
Sadie Furgerson had a cold heart of stone...... yes a sociopath. "Sam, Jeb, Monica, Lysette time for talking" I wonder what happened to Monica in the end.
Can't forget this one. These shows were fantastic.
The correct episode Is "One Big Happy Family " that was first broadcast on Tuesday 8;30-9:30pm (DST) over CBS-TV, October 2nd,1973.
Some people are just plain bad. These creeps were as evil as could be.
Slim pickings and Bo Hopkins both had finished filming the getaway when they done this episode
This is why the death penalty should be mandatory for cases like this.
One of the better episodes in a series with a ton of great ones. This season in particular had some outstanding episodes- Hookman, Draw me A Killer, etc.
This is my favorite episode.
chilling never forgot this episode

A mad family.. The mother was a loon😫
150 killings😩
Chilling stuff. Acting very good here from Lord and villainess. Look of disgust on one cop's face is perfect.
The best Hawaii five 0 ending
People like the momma she had no heart. She has a heart of stone. Watching that scene sent chill bumps up and down my spine. Just her making the statements was creepy. You talking about a psychopath, she is one.
This was the best story. Manson family had to be like this.
This started off hilarious, ended terrifying
3:02 the look of distaste on Chin's face!
Hystericial!
Slim Pickens...playing a hillbilly...who would have thought? Not as iconic as bronco riding a nuclear bomb, but still pretty memorable...
Part of what makes it work...the wife may be a sociopath, but he is the cold, calculating one under an aw-shucks veneer.
That was one creepy, twisted family.😅😅

MisterMasterShafter1 Who's the young guy, Bo Hopkins?
Yep, that was Bo Hopkins. This episode is called "One Big Happy Family," and I believe you can find it online - as you can "Nightmare In Blue," another creepy one.
MisterMasterShafter1 Thanks buddy, I'll look for them!
At least the young one will get the help she needs, and make a decent life for herself...
And she'll get to make many Men and Women very happy!
I remember this sending chills through me when I first saw it, still gives me chills.
Sadie was Hillary Clinton before Hillary Clinton was Hillary Clinton
I absolutely adore this episode.. My kids bug me and start imitating their voices but it doesn't faze me.
Lol
Long live hawaii five o
The woman needs a straight jacket. The rest of them show some remorse, though, or at least awareness of what they did.
Orr defneed Jesus
Steve McGarrett Danny Williams and Ben Kokua of course Chin Ho Kelly made this show in the Top 10
Yes, and refuse to watch the remake.
Slm pickers was great I this episode
It's Season 6 Ep-4 "One Big Happy Family" not A Family of Killers.
Doesn't this woman realize that they are dead for her family killed them
My favorite episode also.
The music from 2:50 conveys McGarrett's and any decent human being's reaction perfectly.

Damm that girl with the glasses is too young to go to prison isn't she
After he said "book them", he should have said "and get them out of my sight"
The Original Five-O team has captured the following:
Slim Pickens, Andy Griffith, Buddy Ebsen, William Shatner, Gavin McLeod, Ross Martin, Ricardo Montablan, and God knows how many other criminals in Hawaii. I know it's a TV show, but unfortunately there's people that commit crimes and don't have any remorse.
Yet Buddy Ebsen was Barnaby Jones by this time!
Leslie Neilson, John Ritter ... and plenty more
I'm not a police officer but you would think that if they were being convicted of murdering over 150 people that they would probably be handcuffed.
The men absolutely were handcuffed. The mother was too wispy to be a threat, and the girl was almost non compos mentis.
The men are cuffed. You can see when Bo rubs his face.
I'm no specialist in English language since it's not my mother language, but isn't the old witch not even able to conjugate the verbs as simple as to be or to have?!
She's supposed to talk like that, to show that she's stupid and uneducated.
You're right, it's not correct English, but that's the way a lot of the people that live in the Appalachian Mountains of the Eastern US speak.
The look on mcgarrett face says it all
Lol that scream🤣🤣🤣
the most ate up episode on hawaii 5 o ever very good
"What's your name?" " B***h, you'll never know!"😂
No doubt these are relatives of the family from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I would not be surprised if they ate some of their victims by making them into barbecue.
Yikes!
Kentucky Five-0

150!
I meant Danno thought: " They are f***ed UP as h*ll". My mistake!
WOW 😎 🍷
I pass on this episode and never watch it as it was so saddistic it has no entertainment value in it. Slim Pickens talent was wasted on this one.
Same here
Trump Voters! They weren,t Kin. Maybe the only 5/0 episode with creepy music at the end.
