Why isn't anyone talking about Boba and Luke being in the same episode.?.?. last time they were together Boba almost died.... They were about 15 mins from seeing each other for the first time in years... Rematch..
Hope Din and Bo adventure to retake Mandalore in the name of all Mandalorians
I really hope they don't touch the plot of the sequel movies, in my opinion it would be better that they are trying to get an army of force sensitive soldiers using grogu's blood it would be better than just "let's resurrect palpatine!" Bc if that's the case let's resurrect anakin, padme, obi wan, yoda, that would just undermine the importance of death
Luke Skywalker doesn't just use a lightsaber. He is using it through the force, as a Jedi should. The blade is hotter more stable. Deflected blaster bolts return with higher velocities and with more destructive and accurate power. Physical limitations due to the laws of physics are no longer a factor. Those droids were nothing.
"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force." Darth Vader
@@Meganuts100 I feel like Boba was tricked without anyone trying...
He hunts Luke and Han. They almost kill him...
Later in the future, he helps Mando get a child to Luke which overall helps Luke. The one he hunted and almost killed him.
When Boba puts all of this together he is not going to like this.
Luke is probably the Republic’s Vader in any former imperial’s eyes who knows of him. To them he’s the guy who blew up the first Death Star, and was the last one to see Vader and Sidious. There are probably a bunch of rumors and legends exaggerating Luke too.
Unfortunately, the audience were the last people to see Sideous... In Episode 9. :(
Lol I didn't think of it like that.
@@kevandalzell7906 stfu, that didnt happen...

Did anyone notice how Boba was conveniently absence during the fight cause it would have been super awkward for Boba and Luke to meet again 😂
I know right
Yup. I was talking about this with a friend.
Luke: I come for the... Wait do I know you?
Fett: I'm a clone, won't be the first ot last time you hear my voice, tee-hee!
Oh yes... Boba Fett and Luke Skywalker didn't part on good terms back at the Sarlacc Pit.
I was thinking that Boba was a way for Luke to find Grogu, since Luke could track and possibly notice that it was Boba’s ship that left Tython.
I love how nobody said Luke's name. Luke didn't even introduce himself. But when I saw Gideon's eyes go wide...the guy who seems to know everything about everyone....there was no doubt that at least one person in that room knew exactly who the cloaked figure was.
They may not have needed an introduction. At least in SW Legends Luke achieved a high level of fame/notoriety after the Empire fell, so much so that he had to conceal his identity at certain points. It's very possible they all knew exactly who he was and were shocked he had come personally.
When he started fighting, you can see the one black glove and one hand. Do the math...
@@joeblack007 yes we know that but we are talking about the view of the character. Which don’t know who Luke is. Most of them don’t even know what a jedi is....
@@ClockworkWyrm He also had to hide his presence in the force as well.
Why did he react like that when he saw Luke?
The Dark Troopers literaly had him programmed as their top priority target / threat and all turned around as soon as he boarded the vessel, just to confront and kill or at least delay him. That's how afraid the Empire is of Luke Skywalker.
Right? That was precisely the thought that crossed my mind when I saw the expression on Moth Gideons face and that single black glove and BEAUTIFUL green lightsaber. 😁👈

What sequels?
Yeah I'm down
@J Jay I saw some garbage Star Wars fanfic by JJ Abrams and Ruin Johnson, but nothing authentic until the Mandalorian came out. 🤷♂️
The prequels and sequels were just Imperial propaganda to discredit the Skywalker legacy. (Written by Jar Jar Binks, who was actually an Imperial disinformation agent.)

That was the best part

I actually saw my dad cry when we watched this. He brought me up into watching and enjoying Star Wars as much as he did. And as we watched this at the end I did see him tear up and cry. I thought that it was because of the emotional moment between Din and Grogu, but when I asked he said he was just so happy to see the real and true Luke Skywalker the way he should've been handled. He didn't like any of the sequel trilogies or how they treated Luke and Mark. But when he saw this and saw Mark Hamill doing Luke the way he was meant to be he actually cried in happiness. In my entire life, I have only seen him cry 10 times, he hardly if not very rarely ever cries so that should say something about how special this episode really was if it was able to make him cry in happiness.
It was the moment we'd been waiting for since 1983.
That's awesome man, glad you got to share that moment with him :)
I'm 43 (probably not far off from your dad's age) and also cried. I can't even describe it, really. It truly was the moment we'd been waiting for since 1983 (saw ROTJ in the theater with my dad in 83!) like someone said. It really was like being transported back to being 6 years old. The greatest christmas gift I've ever received since getting the original NES in 1987. Thank you, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.
Disney executives should see the reaction compilation of this scene and the reveal of Luke. They should see how much the real Luke means to the fans, and then they should apologize for his treatment in the sequels
Im 37. Been watching Star Wars as long as I can remember and seeing Luke's fight was the first time I shed a tear. After I jumped out of my seat.
As far as any Imperial remnants know, Luke was taken to the Emperor's chamber in handcuffs by Vader, and was the only one to come out, dragging Vader with him.
If you're an Imperial that's got to be terrifying!
Especially with Vader's own reputation
Yep exactly people forget the imperials DIDNT watch the fight so just knowing luke came out okay while vader dying in his arms and the emperor completely destroyed they can only think how terrifying luke must have been during the fight i would be terrified too if he was the only one untouched while two most powerful sith died in his hands
This series is everything the last star wars trilogy was not.

@@ReturnofBenjamin You're right about that. Not many people even knew Vader was at one point Anakin Skywalker, but at this point, Luke might as well have been Vader in Gideon's eyes.
@@ReturnofBenjamin Exactly right! I always wondered how many even found out about Luke and Vader’s connection. It’s not like Luke, Leia and Han would’ve gone around telling everybody.

Very appropriate of him. I've seen videos where he was not happy with how his character was treated by KK. He did the job they asked of him, but that was it. But he never did like the way they were treating the original trilogy characters or lore in the sequels... and now there might be hope that they'll be struck from canon as Disney attempts to "redeem" themselves through their own heroes journey with Jon Favreau and the other guy whose name I can't think of right now.
@@jchinckley the problem with the sequel trilogy is there was no plan. At all, interviews with The cast confirmed as much,
THIS episode reveals what Rian Johnson never understood about Luke.
Johnson never understood SW PERIOD. To make matters worse, he didn't want to understand it. To heck with rules/lore, it was all about what RIAN wanted to do.
Ree-Ann Johnson was effectively turned into a footnote in Star Wars history with this episode.
Johnson never wanted to understand Luke as he hates SW in general

Ruin had no intention of understanding anything, he was a casual fan at best and wrote a horrible fan fic. Dont agree it was excellent and best evarrrr? Shut up manbaby. He despises the fandom and wormed his way into a position where he could crush hopes and dreams.
“A friendly piece of advice, assume that I know everything”

Gideon preferred death to the possibility of being interrogated by a Jedi. A Jedi would not torture or kill him, but would likely extract the truth. That means that Gideon was afraid of what would happen when his unseen puppet master discovered the leak. I would predict that someone will get to Gideon in custody before he says anything. This all probably links up to the whole Palpatine-clone storyline.
@@gdkopinionator4356 No it does not. Former imperials including Gideon will stay in imprisonment under tight security. Nothing will go wrong with the new republic and Luke's jedi order. Anything contrary to that happens in an alternate timeline.

Once Luke tossed his old lightsaber in the beginning of The Last Jedi, I knew it was going to be a crap movie and the writers had destroyed the character.
The Mandalorian showed us how powerful Luke had become and what we wanted to see in The Last Jedi but never had a chance to.
Luke was broken in the beginning of TLJ thats his plot of the movie
There’s a giant gap between this Luke and last jedi....
"writers had destroyed the character" How? Because they had him take his failure the same why Obi-Wan and Yoda did, at their failure with Anakin/Vader, and with Palpatine? They went into hiding?
@@mustang6599 I always love how people love Obi-Wan but he is literally a bigger failure than Luke ever was
@@mustang6599 Actually Yoda and Obi-wan went into exile more than hiding, waiting for the children of Anakin to come of age for training, they didn't give up, they retreated to regroup. Jake Skywalker, on the other hand just gave up. The situations are in no way analogous. Not that a clear lore hater like yourself would know that.
I loved how scared he was of Luke. There's no way he's gonna try to get back Grogu. I remember when people thought Gideon would duel Ahsoka in the season as well, but Gideon really isn't a match for a Jedi especially for someone like Luke and Ahsoka.
dude he was a clown... he could only cut an H-wing with the dark saber to get out. Just a bit more useless and he could starve, trapped inside there. 😂 It's funny how they portraited him as a badass villian and in essence he did nothing. They should have taken notes from Rogue One's ending.
He didn’t even have a chance against din. So... obviously not
@@OmenAhead he was more of an administrator...
@@OmenAhead Gideon literally succeeded at every one of his goals before the entire Mando squad had to work together to take him down. He secured Grogu for enough time to let Pershing get some of his blood. Then when he likely knew Din would defeat him, he planted the seeds of conflict and animosity between him and Bo Katan by losing the Darksaber in combat. If it hadn’t been for Luke showing up, Mando and everyone else would have been slaughtered by the Dark Troopers when they got into the bridge.
The entire point of Gideon’s character isn’t to be a badass fighter, it’s to be a calculating and intelligent strategist who can outsmart his enemies. Giancarlo Esposito already said Gideon plays a big part in season 3, so we’ll likely see him escape and keep scheming now that he has the blood from Grogu and doesn’t need to hunt him anymore.
@SHICHO watched that episode last night. Asohka would have walked Gideon.
Gideon is also a very clever, scheming character. When he sees that a Jedi has shown up to take Grogu, he understand immediately what a problem that could be for the empire in the future

Just to preface it, I'm more Star Trek than Star Wars. Both franchises have been pummeled almost to death up until very recently by lack of vision and just pure greed. But I have to hand it to you, from one Earl Gray tea drinker to a light saber wielder, I wish we would also have our Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni dream team. They repaired not only some of the lore of Star Wars but also it's like they used Force Heal on the very soul of Star Wars.
May the force be with you!
Star Trek show needs someone who respect the canon and tone and history of the show.
The current show has been reduced to organ harvester selling remember berries of why OLD Star Trek shows were well thought of and good
I'm a fan of both... I applaud you for those words!
Live long and prosper.
In same boat. Love both franchises but Trek is my main love. Trek badly needs a resurgence. You nailed your statement. This show has saved Star Wars.
Are u sure some of the force doesnt reside in u? Very well said! The Mandolrian is, by far, the best Star Wars in over 30 yrs. This is coming from the 9yr old, who in 1977 saw it 7 times. Im still very close to that kid. Just like The Force, he lives inside of me still....
I really wish " lack of vision and just pure greed" were what was at play. If it were, things would have corrected by now due to box office failure after failure. What's actually happened is people have been put in charge who view movies not an entertainment and storytelling but as mere tools for spreading ideology. So they ignore the fact these things don't make money because their very clear vision isn't about the story at all. I'm a fan of both franchises, and I really, really hope that at some point there is a "Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni" for Trek, but with Majel gone, I doubt there is anyone in a position to MAKE CBS do the right thing anymore. Gene was a HUGE fan of fanfiction and look how its being treated by CBS legal these days. I fear true trek died with Enterprise (although there appear to be some echoes in Lower Decks at least).
There might be more than Luke being the guy who defeated the Sith, Keep in mind Luke uses Dark side powers, Force Crush is traditionally a darkside power shunned by the council. @Star Cabal cause he felt power I guess? So that’s why he was scared cause he knew that a trained Jedi could use it very very well I guess?
@Star Cabal scared of light sabers not dark sabers lol

Great episode. I enjoyed Mayfeld settling a few scores and being released. Hope he makes a return in season 3. Luke saving the day was the icing on the cake.
Think I'm enjoying the mandalorian more than the recent Star Wars movies. Excellent production and direction! Great work guys!
Dude the Luke scene made me tear up but what got me most emotional was seeing Mando jumping to protect baby Yoda from the blaster fire. That's just what a father would do. In a universe filled with failing father figures like Star Wars, seeing this was like cutting onions for me.
He redeems all the failed father-son relationships in the pantheon. And there isn't any blood between them. The first clear-cut move from Protector (assigned by the Armorer) to Father was when he dove into the sea sarlac hold with absolutely no hesitation. That sealed the bond
They knew all us fully grown adults would be in tears. That's why they included R2. How quick did you go from crying sadly to gleefully smiling when you heard that beep beep whirra bee beep? It was therapeutic, and I thank them for giving us that.
As Gideon said "assume I know everything"
He knew to be afraid

Jon needs to given the reigns of Lucasfilm and run the Star Wars franchise and replace Kathleen Kennedy
Grandmaster Luke Skywalker as everyone has imagined for the decades between RotJ and Disney buying the franchise.
Filoni should simply be in charge of the franchise. Disney should understand this now.
I do agree the Dave filoni does know his Star Wars and knows how to write good stories for it
Maybe we should thank the episodes director too. Peyton reed is just as responsible for all of this, not just filoni and faveuro
Look calm down my guy lmao there were plenty of different people in the directors chair throughout the series. This is Favreaus show through and through as he pitched the idea/got it approved by Disney and has written every? Episode along with directing a good handful of them. Other people like Dave and Peyton definitely enhanced the experience but without Favreau none of this happens.
I thought it was Favreau or is it Faveuro
Sohaham Dutta I don’t know lol, I thought I spelled it right but you might have it right
Tanner Henry you’re right, I just haven’t seen Peyton’s name come up at all, I didn’t mean it like an attack or something, probably could have worded it better

I’ve been reading legends star wars for years and the guys put that Luke on the screen have my utter thanks, this is what we have been waiting for, 51 years old and a cried like a kid....awesome stuff
I agree. I spent a whole year reading nothing but legends star wars books. From "the Truce at Bakura" through Jedi Academy series, Yuuzhan Vong books, all the way to the "Crucible". I was disappointed by the the new trilogy after reading all of them.
We weren't even asking that much, but the sequels were just such a strange animal. And the Mandalorian gave me everything I wanted out of Luke: just a few minutes of him displaying his power, status, and elegance.
@@ProhibitionJones def agree I mean seeing luke force crush that dark trooper omg I’m still in shock!!!
@@stevencalef4550 just so damn cool. I never subscribed to the 'whichever star wars movies I dislike ruined my childhood' mentality, but seeing Luke legitimately made me feel like a 6 year-old again. And I know I wasn't alone in that, which makes it all the more magical.
Legends Luke was so powerful.
I suspect the fact that Luke dispatched the dark troopers with relative ease would have been enough to terrify Gideon.
Great video too, you are spot on with your analysis of his fears, I’d never considered how much of the back story was unknown to the people on both sides during the reign of the emperor. There was a great line about how many people died on the two Death Stars.
Finally we see Luke as the powerful Jedi that he was. This is the legends Luke we’ve been looking for. Lol

My favorite scene in all the recent movies, is when Darth Vader comes in and kills those assholes on rogue one.
To every empire loyalist they see Luke as the man who entered a room with the emperor and Vader and he was the only one to return

They have to decannonize the Disney trilogy in order to do that.

As a 52-year-old that saw the original trilogy as a kid in theaters back in the late 70s and early 80s, this was indeed the Luke skywalker I’d always imagined after the end of return of the Jedi. Those terrible “sequels“ only tried to destroy what Luke was to me and I have washed them from my mind like dirt off of an otherwise clean face. I admit that I teared up at seeing him. And nobody sees me cry.
Yea I liked sequel Luke, but we needed to see Luke at his peak again,
This was the Luke we deserved.
Read the Thrawn trilogy ( Heir of the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and Last Command). also read Dark Empire 1 & 2 and Empire's End. Those are events after Return of the Jedi. Disney has "borrowing" alot ideas from those stories from the 90s
This is the Star Wars that I remember as a kid. I love this show!!
Its been a month and i teared up a bit just watching that scene again, I don't tear up for family members passing...
Maybe because Luke reminds Gideon of Darth Vader. Like father, like son.
Gideon knew how scary Vader was. Vader had many meetings with ISB. Vader straight up killed many imperials for little to no reason. He had seen Vader fight. When he saw Luke, he had an inner monologue," Who is this jedi? I have seen this raw strength, ferocity in Darth Vader, how is it possible that someone even more powerful with the same style and way has come now? Is it him? No it cannot be... It cannot be him."
Does he even know darth Vader has a son?
@@amadocarranza5141 Gideon was an ISB officer, but Vader always kept his personal life a closely guarded secret. So it is impossible for ISB to know about their father son relationship.
@@nishantjoshi5174 Didn't it come out in Bloodline, though? Shouldn't everyone know by now?
@@imjessietr29 Man, only in those disliked sequels was Luke and Leia's parentage revealed. I don't think any recent Canon or legends comics has done that. I might have to read further.
When Luke came out of the elevator I got serious Vader vibes just tearing his way through enemies on a tight ship corridor
They owed Luke that. The visuals of Vader in that corridor were epic. They gave Luke a hologram that killed him.
2 best scenes in my personal opinion.
Whenever I watched that scene I thought “this HAS to be a comparison to Vader in rogue one”
Like father like son I guess
