£345 - Age of Steam is a board game where you relive the era when U.S. railroads built the tracks that transformed America's economy. The game is centred on the industrial powerhouses of the growing nation including: Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago, the University of Sankore and more.
Seeing Australia on a mainly coastal map is definitely one of the worst feelings imaginable. We all know they're going to have a good game.
Settling on the woods would've given you a +7 Harbor. Much weaker early game, but I do love me a ridiculously high adjacency harbor as England.
Saw that immediately. Woods had a 3 flood level, but that’s manageable with flood barriers.
34:42 Ursaryan getting distracted by the shiny cool thing but snaps out of it and makes a rational decision, very relatable.
Monopolies and corps on atoll is so sweet, it has a real scarcity of luxuries and you end up fighting for extremely small islands
London being off of Production focus all game urked me lol Fun game though, looking forward to tomorrow.
I got some RIDICULOUS production the other day while achievement hunting as Indonesia with Lady of the Reeds and Marshes. There were just so many marsh tiles. I even passed over the free settler for that pantheon.
Hope everyone ignored the +6 dockyard if he settled one tile to the right 😢
But getting a commercial hub next to the dockyard and city center would offset that right? You'd have 2 gold from the commercial hub being adjacent to the dockyard and another 2 for the 2 adjacent districts thing.
I was wondering if you were going to notice that you minimized production in London.
There's something incredibly ironic about Lincoln wanting diplo favor.
Really nice content, sympatic -> Abo. Greetings from Germany 🤗
Early! Also, I'm glad you started this one. I've been having fun with it, and have been commented every time since the new pack that I wanted to see this one. This is the best in the pack BY FAR. Also, very happy to see Morecombe bay again. I have family living around that bay.
@@UrsaRyan indeed. You ever been to the town of Dalton-In-Furnace? That's where my late grandma (dad's side) used to live. Lovely little town. And then there's Dalton not too far away. My dad used to work as a clerk for them (he's now basically one of the most accomplished brits in the field of data science and sql to still be living in the UK and is basically one of the authorities on it), and I have some family living nearby.
Also, one of my uncles works in Heysham nuclear plant. Can't remember the position, but I'm fairly certain he's pretty high up, because he knows a lot about the inner workings of the place, and both nuclear fission energy and waste storage/reusage, and knows about a lot of their deals with other countries to import the waste, turn what can be used into energy, and safely store the rest (and by store, I mean turn into concrete tubes capable of surviving trains crashing into them directly, then shoving them hundreds of meters into the earth and covering them with as much concrete as possible to ensure relatively long term storage.
In general, I have a lot of family living up there, and they're basically in every walk of life imaginable there. So it's good to see someone who lives nearby is doing well for themselves. Unfortunately I don't live nearby anymore, but I've been up there in the past year, and I do hope to eventually move up there at some point in my life.
Yusss so excited for this Vicky run! But wow is it flat in terms of strategics 😂 And all the Australia-Victoria references are so hilarious. But in general you being British and giving us that Victorian voice over, and playing civ gives a ton of hilarious out of context statements and I'm here for it 😂😂 cheers!
I looked at this start and my reaction was "can you say "fishing boat pantheon"?"
Steam Age Vicky is my current favorite Civ to play. Too bad we haven't found iron yet, but I know we will!
Ursa bear is finally giving Victoria a jolly rodgering 😂😂😂
Ursa playing England let's gooooo
The start of every game is so fun.
Barbarian Galleys won't raze a city unless their encampment is cleared so you could have settled that city.
I always knwo this, but I never trust the game (or the city state below) to allow that state of affairs to continue!
The first however many turns....London on ignore production....
I had to look up lighthouse, because I thought you needed the harbour adjacent to city center for the extra housing, but turns out the city center only needs to be coastal. Good to know!
Also, fantastic game for canals that actually would give extra gold to trade routes!
I mean EVERY game is a canal game but yes, I always have to look up lighthouses as well!! XD
Barbarian galleys do not attack your city as long as their outpost is alive. They only pillage your tiles or attack units. If you clear the outpost they stop moving around and atack the cities if they are in range of their vision. Barbarian land units also will not atack your cities if they haven't scouted your city. You can settle next to barbarian troops and if they have no scout around they will not atack your city.
Btw Victoria would have benefit a more landed and hilly map. There are not enough strategic resources around to see her full power.
14:15 by the way this is sea barb, so no land unit come through to your capital
Broke me watching you pass on a +6 harbor
Give this Wondrous Civ 6 player More Subs!!!!!!
Agreed! If you are watching this video and have not subscribed, then, please, subscribe! Ursa’s videos are a daily source of joy. Support joy! Subscribe. 😊
Gosh, Age of Steam Victoria is sooo good! Production is the most useful yield in Civ 6, and getting a flat bonus to it, as well as increased production to Industrial Buildings? She's just designed to snowball and get nearly as much production, if not more, than Germany!
My only wish is that she had Hansas....
With your charisma and consistent content output, I DONT UNDERSTAND how you’re not at 150-300k subs like potato mcwhiskey. I consider you both equally talented. You’re the more positive and joyous one with all kinds of huge maps and game mods, potato is more standard with Civ but mixes in new 4X games here and there. Currently he’s only made age of wonders 4 vids for the last month.
I dig it, but sometimes I just want my Civ vi.
TGM (the game mechanic) is great as it’s unedited content so the avg game is about 10x 50-70 minute videos. Basically he’d be there at 50k instead of 12-15k subs as he gains then loses as he disappears for 2-3 months a few times a year.
YOU don’t do any of those negatives and you’re not boring, you explain everything quite well especially the more advanced tactics like stacking combat strength on combat strength on combat strength via crusade, double flanking with Saladin, policy cards, promos, codes, etc to get a samurai at the strength of a tank (almost).
Love your city planning and i always go religious because I’ve never seen a downside to it. Even reliquaries and work ethic are amazing. Let choral music and warrior monks and feed the world go to the AI who are now all of the sudden hard AF to heat
Ursa you put London on not focus on production for so long🤣
Paused the video, screaming at the screen to unblock focus on production maybe in the episode..sometimes i wish this was live
I once had a game as Victoria (pre leader pass) in which I had no horses, no iron, no niter and no coal. I had to wait until I unlocked oil to find any strategic resource in my lands, and it wasn't as though I didn't settle very territorially, claiming as much land as I could. So a tragic lack of strategics can happen. Fortunately here, heavily islanded maps are typically great for settling your way out of such problems.
If Curtin invaded you successfully, Victoria would deserve it tbf.
the age of steam ability gives more production than ruhr valley in every city that is insanely good
Can't wait to see that 300+ production capital in the late game, 2 turning settlers like there's no tomorrow
LOL .. First thing I thought was that the color scheme was quite nice... then comes Ursa 🤣
Absolutely insane CIV! Looking forward to that series. How do you make those magnificent thumbnails and get those pictures from the leader from?
Sleepy gets them from HD quality screen shots from leader animations in game - or from YT videos people have put up of all their emotes! Just slow them down a bit and you can get some fun ones = )
@@UrsaRyan Thank you for the answer, my partner figured out the same thing yesterday - even though she never touched civ 😄
I was looking at the leader portraits in the upper right corner, did you add a new mod that shows which world leaders you have trade routes with?
Edit: I was referring to the 4 world leaders that had a trade route symbol on their portraits by the end of this episode.
That just means I have GPT trade deals up - like selling luxuries for instance - not trade routes in this instance!
This Victoria really makes me wish the Harbour/Industrial Zone adjacency was higher - realistically it just makes more sense
The +6 Harbour placement means no Mausoleum - so I think this settle location was the right call
🚂🐻
When playing with age of steam Victoria, I get husbandry #1 as the +2 buff she has really snowballs early cities.
Not sure what that puce colour is about, that's not AoS Vicky's usual colour. Normally shes blue with red icon, basically just AoE Vicky with the colours flipped
Those arent "sea tornados" those are "Sharknados!"
Catch up time after Easter!
Would this new Vicky or Elizabeth make it easier to do the failed TSL England A-Z?
I just need to know the name of the mod that is better at showing the benefits of placing buildings, districts and stuff. Awesome videos, keep it up!

Title: Perfect England start.
Reality: Spawned right next to Australia, accidentally put the capital on "no production" focus for i don't even know how many turns, lost starting warrior, delayed second city, Mogadishu being a nuisance, annoying sandstorm, no iron near spawn. One of those games, huh?
It's gonna be interesting how this one plays out.
Hey has ursa ever explained why he prefers standard speed? Don’t know how much longer a standard game takes, but I’ve genuinely only ever tried online speed 😅 looking forward to this series tho, as I love AoS vicky
Standard speed is the most "balanced" of the gameplay speeds in terms of mechanics buit I like online & quick as well. I'm just used to playing on Standard!
Maybe think about going for Liang with fisheries
Although there are enough fish on this map 😂
Ruhr Victoria
Coming from someone who has been to Oxford we should sock it too then. It is far inferior to Cambridge
i feel weird not they don't put readcoat in england unique unit but in victoria unique unit just so weird
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Unfortunately I cannot help Ursa Bear by hitting the Subscribe button since I subscribed a long time ago so the Subscribe button is gone now 😔
"Blow harder people"? Either your timestamp misses a comma, or you're giving quite weird commands.

A lot of people spotting that I left London on Ignore Production this game! It was indeed a total accident, oops! Fear not though, I actually lock in tiles a lot with my capital so looking back the difference was pretty minimal!! Plus I accidently ended up focusing on food which in a Pingala capital isn't so bad!! Still, whoopsie doodles x
Are you OK?
should have moved next to the fish. two very good tiles in the first ring and a better harbour as well.
