An elderly friend of mind died 3 years ago and this has his name all over it. Elderly, not eating well for months, years of daily tylenol, highly confused the day I sent him to the ER and a diagnosis of acidosis that he didn't recover from. Thanks, Dr Mike!

I have begged my doctors to change from a medication for pain that uses acetaminophen as a base to a less dangerous one, but I’m repeatedly chided for being “overly worried” about my former liver and pancreatic diseases. This information is incredibly helpful but of course the next comments I expect are about patients consulting “Doctor Google” or “Doctor UA-cam.” What on Earth can people do when they learn things like this from a recognized medical authority? What do others do?

@@RebeccaOsterbergFamilyandMusic I completely agree, and at the end of the day it's ultimately your decision if you take the medication or not. I hopped off of my antidepressants, because of the horrible side effects and started doing Cognitive Awareness therapy. Much happier now.
As for pain, maybe try eliminating foods that spike inflammation. I was having horrible back and shoulder pain. For several months after I injured myself. I just switched to a Mediterranean diet and strange enough my shoulder and back pain is gone for the most part. I have full ROM with minimal pain. 😊

My sister was diagnosed with a non alcoholic liver disease after many years of daily Tylenol use. The doctor told her that it was genetic, but I bet she never told him how many bottles of Tylenol she went through over the years. She would suffer confusion also, which in her case was an indication of ammonia build up in her system. After several years of being sick she passed in 2012. We all miss her. Tylenol should NOT be otc.

Another important takeaway is that just because a medicine is available OTC does not necessarily mean it's safe, especially for long-term use and/or at high doses.

    Dr Hanson,
My almost 99 yr old Mom has been taking Tylenol for years for her elderly pain..she still has her memory..walks with her walker daily, no diabetes, heart issues, no liver damage etc…just a few elderly problems..but she’s doing great. So, I would say I would rather have her take the recommended dosage of Tylenol than ANY PRESCRIPTION MEDS, including pain meds. I’ve always helped her stay hydrated to help her brain and body.
She takes no other prescribed meds. Same with my dad..we took him off Warfarin( with his drs permission)…gave him a daily regular ASA , no more wkly blood draws ..only annual …and he lived to be 94.
One has to make the best decision for one ‘s self or/ and their loved ones… work with your drs, but also know you have choices.
And, yes, I USE to be in med field for years up until Covid..bc I knew before Covid hit the health organization wasn’t being truth…as we know now WE WERE RIGHT!
The two patients you mentioned had many comorbidities!!
Pls do your research, same goes to Dr Hansen. Thx

    1. I've never seen Acetaminophen spelled like Acidomenifin👀
    2. Why in the world is a person going to the hospital for hip pain after SURGERY just given Tylenol? In what delusion is that adequate pain management?? He had suppuration in his new hip.😮 Pain management has gone downhill for patients and had he been given adequate meds I wonder if he would have even had this happen at all or as bad if say he was given percocet. What a shame.

I just took Tylenol and Ibuprofen and some nerve pain pills after going home from abdominal surgery, I had already weaned off Dilaudid in the hospital. Oxy was on offer but I didn't need it. I was off all of it a few weeks later. I never had much pain, the meds worked well, plus no constipation and I could drive. It depends on the pain and the patient; I'd imagine hip pain would be much worse but you never know.

      MRSA: Methicillin *Resistant* Staphylococcus Aureus
      MSSA: Methicillin *Susceptible* Staphylococcus Aureus.
Susceptible means methicillin can kill the latter variant much easier. Dr. Hansen explains as such in this video.

I have chronic pain after a laminectomy and spinal fusion. I have also been diagnosed with chronic lyme, reactivated Epstein Barr, ME/CFS and long covid. My immune system is kinda screwed. I'm kinda on the younger side , 64.
I started taking cold showers night and day. I start warm then gradually go to cold. I swear, this has saved my life in more ways than one. Next I may move on to cold plunges. After years of antibiotics, antivirals, supplements, ozone blood treatments, ozone sauna, I finally decided to try this unconventional treatment. I'm out of pain and have some energy at least for a few hours. Don't try this unless you check with your doctor first. I know with some conditions like heart disease this could be dangerous.

You can boost your glutathione levels by supplementing with dietary NAC. Or even better all the amino acid components necessary to synthesize this tripeptide. N-acetylcysteine (NAC): to boost cysteine levels; Glutamine: to ensure sufficient glutamate levels; Glycine: to provide the necessary glycine component.
Additionally, will need appropriate levels of necessary cofactors such as vitamins B2 (riboflavin), B6 (pyridoxine), and B12, as well as selenium and magnesium.

How long was the patient taking Tylenol? Does taking anti inflammatory drugs create a similar effect? I have scoliosis and use pain medication for my chronic pain. I recently experienced adverse side effects. I stopped taking Tylenol because it was giving me diarrhea and unbearable stomach pain. I was directed to stop taking meloxicam because I experienced stomach pain with it as well. I’m taking a topical anti inflammatory (diclofenac sodium) instead for the next few days. I was switching between Tylenol and anti inflammatory every day for about 8 months before the side effects became unbearable. I should also note, I’m taking an SNRI everyday. How long is a safe duration for pain medication and how long of a break should one take before using it again? Thank you for the video!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I wanted to share - if/when you can take your meds again - that you can take Tylenol and Meloxicam together; in fact, they work better together than separately. I take Arthritis Tylenol (it's extended relief and amazing btw) and Meloxicam together but I don't take the nsaid every day because it can hurt my stomach and has potential to harm kidneys.. I also take the Meloxicam with food. You need to take any nsaids with food btw.
I hope your doctor can help you with another pain med. (A muscle relaxer and gabapentin maybe?) For my back pain I also use lidocaine patches which help alot and I put them all up my spine.
I hope you have a good day today and tomorrow. Sending you good luck!💐

@@outoftheklosset I can't take Tylenol with Meloxicam. It upsets my stomach too much. That's why I take it separately but I still ran into issues. I have taken muscle relaxers in the past after a car accident. The medicine made me so dizzy I had to lay down. I experience headaches/migraines nearly every day. Sometimes I feel dizzy. I lay in bed and wait for the pain to go away. I don't see a difference in my lifestyle if I choose to go on muscle relaxers again. At least when I stay off of muscle relaxers, I don't have to worry about adverse side effects. I have mild liver damage right now from the NSAIDs, SNRI and Tylenol. The only method I wasn't referred to is a chiropractor. Don't know why I'm surrounded with people who talk me out of chiropractic services. It seems like they want to poison me.
