Garcia (Remixed) is a genre-defying dance potion crafted by LP Giobbi, a forward-thinking, boundary-breaking artist disrupting dance music today. A Deadhead herself, this isn’t her first drop of Garcia’s inspiration. Originally scheduled to perform at Playing in the Sand earlier this year, LP Giobbi pivoted after its cancellation to showcase her “one-woman jam band” talents virtually. In February, she live-streamed “Dead House” with all donations made during the event benefiting the beloved Rex Foundation.
In the spirit of traveling into another world, we brought in our new friend Young & Sick to reinterpret the original cover art designed by Bob Seidemann. The full album will be available on January 20, 2023.
Frank Zappa - 'A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it is not open.'
So open that your brain falls out?
Absolutely nothing wrong with this. The Dead were all about the music evolving & being reinvented. Sure some tunes can turn out a little corny but it's 1 for 2 so far.
"You can do what you want with my music, but don't make me boring." - Freddie Mercury
I think I understand some of the negativity - but I'm as Deadhead as it gets in some regards and this broke right through my defenses/gatekeeping/purist mindset - I love this and think it's an awesome interpretation of one of my favorite Jerry/Dead tunes. I hope this turns on younger folks and gives some of the older heads a great few minutes on a sunny road trip - hopefully to D&C this summer!
I LOVE the Dead/Jerry
I hear a lot of hate on this entire project.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.
The deal is FIRE.
Yo the naysayers. If you get confused listen to the music play. NFA
Light it up. She gets it.
As for all of you hardcores who think you own Garcia, I've been around forever and I LOVE this. Bravo!
Great music and amazing musician with great vocals !
I'm all about this, and I saw Jerry. Lol
projects like this open up new audiences.
Idiots?
@@autistichead8137 do you regard those with different music tastes to your own as "idiots"?
@@dazzlerweb 🤣 no, just anyone who thought this was a good idea. PS You can get a sense of humor anytime you like.
@@autistichead8137 Speaking of not understanding social cues, what are you talking about?
I've been hearing people BITCHIN about this but DAMMMMMN this is slammin. Congrats, LP! Proud of you!
I’ve been listening to the Grateful Dead and Garcia since the1970’s and this stands up. If the thunder don’t get you, the lightening will.
As someone who actually plays music, this is sick. You boomers are shot. Open your heads. I'm not into electronic music but if I walked into a club and heard this I would love it. So much better than other EDM and music you would hear in a bar. If you don't like it, click off. For a generation that was known as rebellious, you sure do whine a lot.
Im obsessive compulsive deadhead of 40 years... How could you not at least like this?? Shes trying to spread joy and Jerry.... Fantastic!!
As a Deadhead who absolutely loves House music I love it. The Music Never Stopped 🔥
Wow! The hatred and stupidity of these so called Deadheads has hit an all time low. Many of the comments on this video are so clueless. Whether you like the fact that this woman altered a Garcia tune or not, you cannot deny the fun she and the crowd were having at PITS this past weekend. So many people can't accept that GD (not just the music, but the entire ethos) has evolved over a half century. What they're not appreciating is that the core of the music and attitude is alive and well. Maybe it's even healthier than ever before. We don't have to love every cover of a classic tune. We do have to respect that others might like something we don't and insulting them for it goes against everything being a Deadead actually stands for. Didn't Grateful Dead make their mark by altering other people's music to suit their tastes? Over half their songs are covers with the GD flavors added to them. I applaud this woman and the partiers who danced hard to her mashups this past weekend down in Mexico. I applaud Jerry's daughters for expanding on and evolving what Garcia worked so hard to convey. People need to quit believing he was some saint or that Hunter was some prophet. They were humans with flaws just like anyone else. They were kind hearted. Jerry even said that the music isn't theirs anymore once they're through with it and people can do anything they like with it. I prefer to think that he would be proud of how his music has continued to grow and evolve. People who think Jerry has been removed from the equation here obviously just don't hear him or feel him in it. That's ok. What's not ok is the holier than thou attitude they're projecting on others who get IT and see that this is quite the testimony to his greatness as an artist.
You are acting holier than thou, so your point is lost. The reason this is not acceptable by many is because this is a Jerry Garcia channel, not a DJ sample (edited) channel. Let the DJ post it on their own channel, not on the official Jerry channel. That’s just my two cents.
@@MicahFoxxMusic sorry you can't be open to the family of Jerry Garcia sharing something they were moved by. Do you cry like this when the Grateful Dead channel has their Dead Covers Project too? You obviously don't understand the phrase Holier Than Thou either. You're being EXACTLY the closed minded person I described 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣 @MicahFoxxMusic Why does the MicahFoxxMusic channel have cover songs? It's the MicahFoxxMusic channel, not the MicahFoxxCoverMusic channel. Just my two cents 🤣🤣🤣
@@camart3519 there’s a difference in covering a song, like Jerry did frequently, and sampling a song’s actual recording like is done here. Holier than thou is exactly what you portrayed by telling others that your point of view is better than theirs. People have opinions. Yours is fine, just like mine is.
@@camart3519 for example, if this artist actually sang the song over their own music, that would be cool. This is just a sample of a Jerry song over a beat. It lacks any of the creativity of the original song. It’s just my analysis; doesn’t matter if you agree.
Definitely fun! Love it
I get why the older fans may not like this (I saw Jerry so I'm not exactly young either), but I can hear the value here. It's likely to open up more newer fans to Jerry and the GD.
Older head here. I got to see the last of Garcia on this earth in the mid 90’s. I was coming of age as he was sadly preparing to leave. I think this is beautiful
I get Jerry wanted to music to live on...but I listen to Jerry for his jams and ALL the lyrics.. If i was ever caught at a electric festival i might appreciate this..but that scenario would never happen. Old soul here...and not trying to hate. Peace & love ❤️
Definitely has potential! The vocals are being overpowered by the music unfortunately.
been avoiding this project for a while, dunno what I expected but this is alright, pretty🔥actually
Please do a mix for Second that Emotion
This is OUTSTANDING !!!.....stop being so full of yourself you complainers.....🤗😃😋🤩🥳

Okay, I didn't like the "Deal" remix, but I dig this.
🎵🎶
🤮🤮🤮
If I heard this at a rave, I would love it, :)
I mean come on, most people will know we'd rather be at a dead gig, but hey ho !
love it! gimme more
How is this considered a remix? She just laid Jerry's chorus vocal over top of an original beat.
Lol. That's literally what a remix is...
Leave Jerry Garcia alone!!!
Talk about a space/drums
Is this the official Jerry Garcia channel? Who runs it?
Tragically it is…
@@johnstamos8403 Hush
@@Marshall_Stacks awwww someone likes the song and hates hearing the truth about the remix........ You are a tourist
The quality of the lyrics burn through this genre presented in this remix. Nice job :)
Love this, just so happened to hear it in the lane 8 Spring Mix
I reaking love it, eep it up. People will get past their bias I promise. Dead heads are pure in thought to Jerry. But damn, the new vibe to it is 🔥
This was fun.
I’ve read a dozen comments and haven’t seen a negative one!
Not my music
Jerry play every instrument on his recording...it was a jumpy happy light tune just like this
Jerry would love this
please make it stop
you can literally make it stop yourself by just closing the window
Umm. They took away the wonderful steel guitar and changed it with a modern beat?
Yeah, that was really silly. And among the remixes here from this project, Late for Supper is really the only one that kind of works
If you have never heard Garcia's first solo album, you heard this and this made you go out and listen to that first album then GREAT!
Brutal butchering.
Butchering as in, this remix slays?
Not this again
Just when you thought it couldn't get more cosmic.
Wanted to like it - but my God that was atrocious !
Boringly repetitive , the generic EM percussion is cringe , the vocal mix is poor and omitted the best parts of the song , the signature guitar intro .
Very disappointing.
projects like this deserve an unfollow ..just stop
Interesting, cute, makes me wonder if this young lady plays any instruments or just does the DJ thing?
Stop with that condescending tone. Do YOU play instruments, tough guy?
@@Marshall_Stacks yep...why are you being a jerk when i asked a simple question?
I didn't subscribe to this channel for this.
boo hoo
Jerry wouldn't approve of the over-sampling. 🖕
This is a certified abomination. 😔
Jerry should never be remixed. No need to. He was perfect. This song kind of takes Jerry out of it. I do respect the fact people will like this just not for me
You’re not exposing young people to Garcia’s music if you change the music!
Dense, dull, ironic
this sucks
I don't think Jerry would listen to this. My best guess is he would get a good heckle out of it.
Cool story bro
I disagree. I think he'd be interested in it.
Jerry loved Disco and I have it on good account that he listened to ABBA, so you may not want to assume too much.
@@jonathanseraphim5196 this is not disco brother. Sorry Jerry, would have a good heckle on this. It is definitely not music.
@@johnknottiii3815 way to prove you have an utterly closed mind. The fact that many here are praising it for it’s merits shows that it is indeed music, just not music you personally don’t care for. I am not so arrogant to declare that I have the sole right to say what is music and what is not. I am sure many a classical musician declared the Grateful Dead’s soundscapes to be undisciplined noise, too. While there are several better remixes of the Garcia’s music, I can see how this track could work within the musical travels of a creative DJ.
Terrible
Sacrilegious. The Actual song is the best version. If that doesn’t pull in new audience then those listeners were not meant to get into the dead.
This is one of the grossest things I’ve ever seen.
Selling T-shirt’s with dead logos at Walmart I can overlook.
But this music is incredibly important and this is spitting in Hunter and garcias face. No wonder you publish this after hunters death, he’d hate this with a passion.
Shame on whoever is approving this usage.
go away
what an absolutely preposterous statement. remixing and sampling is paying tribute to a song, not spitting in the artists face. Look into LP at all and she's genuinely a huge deadhead/garcia fan, and this project was made out of love.
It's ok if you don't like it, but to act as sanctimonious as you are here is just sad.
“Well, my feelings are, the music is for the people, ya know it’s like uh… I mean after it leaves our instruments it’s of no value to us, ya know what i mean, it’s like, ya know…what good is it?," - Jerry Garcia
@@randysavage7392 picking the wroong dead head to debate mydude.
That quote you provided was referencing why Jerry was okay with tapers and trading of tapes. HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW HIS WORK IS USED WITH PRODUCING NEW WORK.
If Robert Hunter was still alive, he would ABSOLUTELY never allow this usage. Such a stupid reply that you just assembled.
You are a tourist and have No idea what this music is about. CHAD.
@@johnstamos8403 I’m well aware of that. but the sentiment is the exact same - the art is for the people and the culture to interpret.
There are tons of covers that take a completely different interpretation to the dead’s songs out there. While this obviously isn’t that, it’s in the same spirit and done by someone who genuinely loves the dead, made this out of love, and had the blessing of the remaining members who gave her the stems to create these remixes. I understand not liking it but I think it’s incredibly pretentious of you to assume you know what Hunter and Garcia would have thought and that you’re the ultimate source of knowledge on their legacy.
I’m just gonna leave you here because Im not gonna engage with someone who resorts to juvenile personal attacks and closed mindedness when it comes to discussing new forms of art. I hope your day gets better.
@@randysavage7392 LOL dude, you legit don't respect the art in the slightest if you think some shitty DJ doing a remix qualifies as new art.
Absolutely tone deaf.
