Thank you for the video. I have been looking at a few quill videos trying to figure out how to make a nine pointed star, looks like I can use this method, just have to get a pattern for the star and down size it to fit. I do have one of my nine point stars I made out of stained glass so hopping to use it. I have lots of bark but will have to get the quills and sweet grass. My X wife said they would through a blanket or towel over a porcupine to get there quills, but do not think there are any porcupine on the island, and not sure if that is a good idea or not. Again thanks for the very good video.
Hi Melissa, I’m a Native Education Tutor. We would love to have the ours kids do your project for the Winter season. We’ll be having them harvest birchbark here where we live and have donated quills, sweetgrass, and sinew for them. Would that be okay with you? We’ll likely crate birchbark earrings, but I feel this would be a great starting project to get some practice in with the tradition. Loved your video. Respectfully,
Thank you very much for posting your tutorial. I just finished watching the TV video on you which prompt me to here. I've been a leather worker for decades but Quill work has been a magnet lately. I have been more interested in using the quills full length vs wrap, I'm sure wrapping will come later. I have to rely on getting quills from online suppliers as I don't live in the animals areas anymore. If you have any suppliers to recommend that would be wonderful. Much obliged, Cimarron
Do you have any recommendations for quilling fabric, such as I want to do a leather vest but not sure about securing the quill after inserting into the leather.

Do you soak your bark ? Mine i just got in the mail today & its very stiff & hard. I dont think i can get a needle through it.
Yes you can soak it! You can also try to peel a small layer off the back if you feel it is too thick

nope, once they are cut and dry they hold in place!
