      Right so many people hate Azealia. She spoke the truth. Cardi B is not considered ghetto she's always referred to as being herself. So I'm confused is Azealia banks not being herself? Azealia calls people out on their bullshit and people don't like it, so they refer to her as being jealous or hateful.

    Cardi’s racial ambiguity and the typical caricature of black women that she portrays is a large part of her success. Society wants black culture but not always from black bodies. All AB did was point that out. The skin bleaching and “unattractive” comment from Cardi has some racial undertones to it. Cardi has called darker complected women burnt roaches in the past.

    I agree that they lowered the bar with Cardi B. Because if she were a black woman, people would precieve her different. I for one didn't respect her after twirkin on stage pregnant and alot of the things she say. She is a great entertainer, but where's the respect? Social media has her on an all time High right now. It's sad, because I feel like she can represent herself a whole lot better than that.

    Let's be honest: Cardi B is praised for her negative stereotypes. You all can't tell me that if a Black woman behaved the way Cardi B does and made the exact same music, she would have the same success as Cardi B? I'm not a hater but this is facts.
    She is praised for stereotypes that black women have been shamed for...

      Lynn R because everyone knows Nicki is actually very intelligent and she does it for the sake of entertainment. Like Ti said, with Cardi it's not a persona. That's the real her. There is room for both of them to win and it's not Cardi's fault, but what Azalea is saying holds a lot of truth even though she has judged other black women as well.

    I agree about the gang member thing. It’s very counterproductive. Cardi B does have the right to portray her real self but we have a right to have an opinion about it. If Cardi’s free to scream I’m a blood, Azealia has the right to say how she feels. Free speech doesn’t mean only the things I agree with.

      Agreed. People have the right to their opinion whether or not others agree. It separate us from other countries. And you don't realize how great the freedom of speech and freedom of opinions is until you go to a country where if you don't agree with whatever the government's of that country says you need to agree with your not even allowed to State your opinion on it or you go to jail. And that's real

    Honestly, I don’t necessarily think Azealia is wrong in her observations about these 2 particular people, at the same time she’s not doing herself any favors career wise (and probably on a personal level too) because of her inability and/or unwillingness to dissemble and filter herself in public - as usual. I wish Azealia would get professional help.

    cardi b is not a good lyricist......she has no bars. BUT her personality and her skin is what has her where she at. you're delusional if you think different. i still love cardi but if you appreciate rap for what it IS and suppose to be you would realize cardi doesn't measure up lyrically or metaphorically .

    • @andrewbolingo
      @andrewbolingo 6 років тому +4

      oh really, listen to red bars

    • @RaiinbowBarf
      @RaiinbowBarf 6 років тому +15

      @terence red bars was alright. lyrically it was her best song, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it was again, just ALRIGHT. Cardi doesn't make you stop and think. Cardi bars doesn't make you speechless she doesn't ever make you say "daamn how she even come up with that?". Rap as a whole now is only seen as good if it has a fly beat. Unfortunately nobody cares about whats said anymore, they just want a beat to bop to that can turn up the clubs. I take it that you're young.
      Real rappers who spit & push their pen thats a different type of talent. Cardis talent is purely entertainment. She entertains people like a media personality, so they'll support what she puts out garbage or not cause they like HER (personality). She's cool, interesting, and relatable, but thats it. These days you have to look a certain way as well. Looks sell, trends sell. You have to look like whats in right now because you need to bring money in. Do millions flock to you? yes? perfect you can work. You cant sing or rap? don't worry people love you so we can make it work. If not, doesn't matter how good you are, nobody wants you, you'll have a tougher time. So rapper? never. Unless she finds a dope ghost & we'll know EXACTLY when and if she ever finds one.
      Sorry for all that, I just wanted to make a point.

    • @RaiinbowBarf
      @RaiinbowBarf 6 років тому

      India D....honestly typing in all caps does not get your point across it only makes it hard to and a nuisance to read. Though, after skimming through what I could, I think you took what I wrote as me standing up/taking sides for azaelia. Truth be told i don't even like her. Sometimes she has good points but they're followed by a thousand useless ones/actions. Any person can see that Azaelia is an intellectual, but her delivery is poor, sometimes hypocritical, & whack. She does not know how to use her intelligence. Nobody gets up in the morning and says hey im lighskin i can make it. Im just saying your colour in hollywood even in day to day life HELPS.......like a lot lol. Not really in the hood. hood is the hood everybodys poor nobody cares what colour you are there which explains cardis history. but in other places colour DOES HELP.
      I also say cardi is where shes at because of her personality and that people relate to her soo you wrote all of that for nothing especially because I was annoyed to even read half. Also it still does not take away from the fact cardi is NOT a good lyricist... LOOOOOOOOOOOL now you have a great day India. Im done on this thread.

      Exactly. Everything she said was the truth. If Cardi was a dark skinned black woman acting silly and talking out of her ass, making those weird noises and dancing like a stripper while pregnant, she would have been dragged to hell and back and called everything but a child of God. Azealia Banks may not be politically correct, but that is what makes her so refreshing. She goes against the grain. Her music is brilliant as well. She can sing, act, writes and produces her own music. What can Cardi do besides act like a goof? She doesn't even write her own music. But watch people sit up here and defend her anyway.

    People don’t like the messenger so they’re ignoring the message.
    At the end of the day, this conversation surrounding black women’s experience not only in this country, but across the globe, is one of nuance and littered with complex layers. It’s one deserving of people who are equipped to not only handle the conversation, but deliver it in a way that doesn’t diminish any aspects.
    The Cardi B’s and Hennessy Carolina’s of the world are not those people, yet with their rise to fame, they’ve been given platforms to fill that role and be representations of blackness. And I think that’s where we as a culture have failed.
    Also, there’s nothing wrong with the ‘hood, being from the ‘hood, or even being a product of that ‘hood. There is however, everything wrong with attributing low level intelligence to the ‘hood as we have everyday examples that the ‘hood is a bastion for creativity and intellect, and furthermore refusing to move past a state of ignorance. And that’s one of Cardi’s issue.
    Cardi B is a Bronx girl, just like me, and yes, we have plenty of Cardi B’s living their authentic truth and there isn’t anything wrong with that. But the difference between them and Cardi is that they aren’t inserting themselves in conversations or capitalizing on caricaturization of black women’s experiences for a quick buck. So no, I don’t think Cardi is undeserving of this sort of scrutiny, or that “she didn’t ask for it.” She’s followed this fame train far enough that she’s felt emboldened enough to pick and choose when she identifies as a black women, so in true fashion, she’s simply experiencing what actual black women go through.

      So much truth to this. I wish people would stop only valuing who has the most number 1s and who’s earning the most money, and actually take a critical look at what type of message their faves are sending. I’m not saying that people can’t enjoy Cardi B‘s music, but they take it too far when they completely ignore the fact that Azealia Banks is right about the way black women are portrayed. Why does the value of someone’s discourse have to be tied to the number of digits in their bank account? It makes no sense to me. Should we listen to what Bhad Bhabie says over an Angela Rye, because she’s nominated for a Billboard award and getting paid millions?

Obviously she does and I'm confused on why she would "delete" her ig over Azealia. mrowzer Why do you say that? Because she's not a mainstream artist like Cardi or Nicki? Azealia has stated (and more than once might I add) that she does not want to be a mainstream artist. She is afraid it would take away from her creativity and she'd be another mindless product of pop/mainstream culture. I'm glad she's not mainstream either, I think that's what makes her music so great is because she has much more control over what she puts out. And at least she writes her own music. When she charts (which she did with Anna Wintour) it's because she promotes the hell out of her music on her own, not because she's paid someone or because her company does it for her. Her talent goes far beyond Cardi's by leaps and bounds.

    So, what I'm not understanding is how people keep saying that Cardi B displays the typical caricature of a black woman and she is bringing the image of black women down. My question is, why do people automatically assume that she is "acting like a black woman", when not all black women act like that. How do you, on one hand, say she acts like a "ghetto" or "ratchet" black woman, but then, on the other hand, want to say that black women don't all act the same and we are not all ghetto? It can't be both. At the end of the day, I don't feel like she is acting black because that's an insult to me as a black woman. She is acting like herself and like the people she grew up around in the Bronx where she came from. She is not the first, nor the last, Dominican or afro Latino from New York to act like that. It's not anything new. Nor is it a black thing. They have their own culture in those areas. It's just that the masses are not used to that because they don't have exposure to those groups of people. Speaking of being an afro Latino, correct me if I'm wrong, Cardi B does not promote herself as a black woman. Yes, lots of people, at first, may be confused about her ethnicity, but she clearly states that she is Dominican, while also sometimes mentioning that her mother is from Trinidad. So, by her acting the way she does, wouldn't she be an "embarrassment" to latinos and afro-latinos? How is she an embarrassment to black women when she doesn't promote being black? Only ignorant people who don't care to look at her further would assume she is black and acts like a black woman because they don't care to research her ancestry. So, why should we care about their opinion? Azealia is a great artist, I will give her that, but please don't be fooled by her fake "wokeness". She is using that as a tactic to bring yet another woman of color down and she is continuing to ruin her career by surrounding her name with negativity.

    Once again, Azealia got everyone hot and bothered, boy. Honestly, she doesn't come across as a nice person or even a good person, but she does come across as very truthful, and Azealia spoke a lot of truth here. I always look forward to ANY of her interviews, because she's intelligent, uncensored and gutter as fuck, and it's interesting to watch and listen to. This is the thing - Azealia always goes for the jugular to get attention AT FIRST, but then once she has you, she gives you the truth. Sometimes she'll say what everyone else is thinking and nobody else has the guts to say, but nobody gives her credit because of how hurtful she is.
    As for Cardi B, she's very insightful and shrewd, uses what she has to great effect, and she performs with a lot of confidence and has something in the way of a flow. But just because you have the right ingredients, it doesn't mean you know how to cook. Also, while Azealia seems to go for the most attention-seeking and spiteful way to communicate her point, Cardi just seems vindictive and always looking for somebody to underestimate her or somebody's opinion to take personally, otherwise she has no purpose and nothing to write about. Like, how many fucking times are you going to "rise from the ashes" before you stop getting yourself burnt to begin with? I might not like her, but she's better than that.

A guy (Russel Crowe) asked her to come over she thought in a professional context to his hotel room because other people from the film was there as well and he basically tried to use her as a prostitute. When she rejected him he spit at her and cursed her all in the presence of their boss (RZA) who never spoke up for her or even told his subordinate to calm down. All because he wanted to stay in the good graces of Russel Crowe. RZA even released a statement to the media speaking in defense of Russell Crowe, which had to hurt Azalea Banks, and then he later admitted that Russell Crowe was in fact wrong. In return, Azalea Banks refused to promote this film and no one else wanted to either with all of the negativity surrounding this incident.

      Sade Willis Sade Willis What??? Where did you hear that version of events from? Rza brought her to meet Russel Crowe and other influential people that night to help her career. Russel Crowe didn’t proposition her for sex! He was hosting a dinner party with several other guests in attendance, all of which corroborated the same story; which was that they where having dinner when Azalea starts complaining that the music and the conversations they where having where corny and according to Rza she started getting loud and obnoxious..which I’m sure was embarrassing to him because he brought her there. Rza tried to calm her down when she threatens to cut everyone’s throats! So Russel Crowe kicked her ass out! She wouldn’t go quietly, so she was physically removed by Crowe and after an exchange of words, he spits at her and Rza takes her and they both leave.
      Here Rza, someone who believed in her so much that he gave her the lead role in his movie, tries to help her career....and she fucks it up. She sabotages what could have been a moment to help elevate herself and then turns on Rza and everyone else to blame them because she can’t take any accountability for her actions.

    A Banks got cardi ass by calling her a illiterate rat. appearance don't matter but she win at calling cardi unspeakable. Cardi speak and write like a child same as her husband. y'all can't say anything to defend that because it's true. Its sad in some way but it's also there to see and hear from the way she talk to people/rant. cardi needs to meet a speech counselor to speak and write more profoundly. It's not okay for her age to speak or write this way. Likewise to her sister and husband.

    I must admit Azealia gathered Cardi B very well and eloquently. There was some truth to what she said but also what Cardi said as well. Lets not forget she stays coming for female rappers that do better than her. First she talked bad about Nicki, Remy etc. Azealia is just riding the wave and I hate how she tries to act problack knowing damn well she not, especially with that forced Dominican accent she used to have and the fact that she sells bleaching products. I remember her praising the Dominican culture and not her blackness, I honestly think she wishes she was Cardi B imo.

    Let's talk about the female rap industry. Most the iconic rappers we had went on to do other things, was locked up, or took a break. Then we where birthed with the Nicki era... all our females stopped getting mainstream attention after Nicki. Idk why? Maybe that's the industry trying to control everything. But it's like that all over the board, you can't have multiple black girls winning.

    • @SupergirlFaisa
      @SupergirlFaisa 6 років тому +33

      Exactly in the 90s there was a good amount of black female artists and groups getting their shine. Now its just Beyonce , Rihanna (who i love) and Nicki Minaj who may be replace with Cardi. Cause God forbid more than 1 black female artist is winning. I mean SZAs poppin but she said this next album will be her last. So wheres the new black female talent. The industry is doing some pushing of ambiguous artist and eventually black people will be pushed out of another genre we created and we'll have no-one to blame but ourselves its already happened with female rap and males are following with the rise of the ambiguous mumble rappers.

    • @SupergirlFaisa
      @SupergirlFaisa 6 років тому

      NoneOf YourBusiness Thats literally what i meant when i said we'll have noone to blame but ourselves. We're not streaming or supporting those artists so we cant blame Cardi for her hustle. And tin hat 😒.... its not a conspiracy its well known in the music industry that ambiguity sells as you can cross to different audiences. Also i know their on top because they have worked their areas off and deserve that space especially Beyonce this ain't a dig at them. But loads of female black artists have come out saying that theres been a cap set and a monopoly by the industry on female black art i mean in the 90s for female rap alone you had missy elliot, lauren hill, lil kim ... and more who weren't 'main stream' but were gettin some shine but now... And it ain't the same for other races you literally have 100 new young taylor swift being introduced everyday and the music industry hasnt combusted. Secondly i didnt say black female artist dont exist no i know they are presant their just not getting the push they used to and because of that we aren't seeing them and supporting them. But we need to do better and look for these artists and propel them thats our job. But to pretend this aint a thing thats been happening says more about you as your trying to educate me on something you clearly don't know enough about mentioning social media like you know my age. Even Beyonces DAD a music producer said her light skin was an asset in showcasing her talent and shes black. We as black people don't own these music platforms so we can be pushed out just like history has shown time and time again rock and roll, country ... Its been shown that they prefer black culture from non black people and if you want to remain ignorant to that thats cool but its happened to the females and then the men will soon find themselves erased two. There's tonnes of documentaries and interviews from people in the music industry talking about this and these black coon producers who add to this. So just because you dont agree with me whoch is fine doesnt mean im spewing conspiracies its well documented if you want to google.

    Azealia Banks is the reason why she isn’t making money. Azealia Banks is the reason why she isn’t in movies. She’s steady pointing the finger at everyone else, when she needs to look in the mirror. So now she’s going to talk about how wonderful Beyoncé is, when she did nothing but disrespect her and go in on her. While I do agree with what she said about colorism that is still prevalent in society, it’s her funky ass attitude that stops her from meeting her full potential. You can still have controversial opinions about many different things, without straight up disrespecting people and going in on people. She wouldn’t be talking ish about RZA doing cocaine, if he would have been on her side with the Russell Crowe incident. Do I believe Russell did something like that? ABSOLUTELY! Do I believe that she was out of pocket first? ABSOLUTELY! The Breakfast Club and The Shade Room loves the messiness, but if she continues nobody is going to care what she has to say, and it’s a shame, because she is incredibly talented. She’d probably be an amazing actress. The entertainment industry forgives, but only to a point. Good luck to her. She’s going to need it.

    I get the whole 'if a black woman did it.... blah blah blah' but it's played out. Look at tiffany haddish and Issa rae. They haven't changed who they are but they've both blown up too. Maybe the next black women should stay unapologetically themselves and they too could blow up. I'm tired of the whole 'cardi gets a pass cos she lightskin and latina'. Cardi gets a pass cos she's stayed true to herself. Give her a break. This time last yr, everybody was rooting for her and now that's she's made It, everybody wanna drag her from all angles. That's show business and Hollywood. I think that if your doing anything in this world to make a difference, to make it fair and right and just, you do it from the heart. I think her heart is in it, she is so passionate about what she believes, but unfortunately the business she is a part of is very scandalous and one wrong word or speaking honestly they will tear her down and can't wait to do so. It's a shame because she is wise beyond her years. I hope she succeeds in what ever she does and wherever life takes her. Iam routing for you Azealia!!

      Kelsey Morrison - Azealia Banks is a insecure black girl who consistently complains about how mainstream music is not putting her on pedeastal as a darkskin black women but Cardi B or Iggy Azelea. She should know by now that mainstream media is catered to white western world ( of which the Latina/Carribean Cardi B is part of as the latin world is connected to mass media of the west aswell Telenova etc. She talks about white supremacy and but bleaches her skin and fucks white american males and hate other black girls.....i am like this girl is delusional

      Cardi is not on Instagram, because the Lgbtq are dragging her about the "girls" song.

    Azealia has a point. Cardi has a point. I say, just throw the whole rap/trap away. The shit’s dead anyway. Might as well bury it.

    This was a really good video. Only thing I got to say is “That Breakfast Club Interview felt like it was an ambush!”
