Nice video Chelsea, I used this 3 months ago on our Jeep Wrangler and it's held up beautifully so far. No more worn out gray trim pieces, the ease of use and needing no additional supplies was a huge bonus.
Good addition to the arsenol. I used to, and still use VRP; but recently tried GTechniq C4 (recommended by Dallas Auto correction) for trim from door handle upward. I was very pleasantly surprised at the factory new finish it brought. Is priced high 15m @ $14.
I gotta try these...those B and C pillars look like they can be machine polished to a high gloss. If the Cerakote prematurely fails on them, hit it with your DA and your Optimum hyper polish, they should shine up pretty good.
Thank you. Having even worse pillars, I was going to hit mine with 3000, then 5000 grit wet dry sandpaper, then polish and seal to see if that would bring them back. I don't know what the previous owner did, but it looks really bad. I am going to try the Cerakote first.
Great video and review I’m constantly trying to fight all my trim pieces to stay looking nice. I use solution finish right now and it’s decent but can’t wait to see how this turns out and lasts.
What I found that helps around the lettering and very tight areas, was to take a cheap sacrificial soft paint brush and squeeze lightly into the package ( if there is no fluid left in the package) and use the paint bush with the cerakote. Other than that good video. How is it holding up for you?
Yay! Thank you Chelsea. I have a similar spot with the well faded hard plastic trim + who knows what kind of stains on my Yaris. I am definitely going to try this product.
Looking to apply this to a brand new Santa Cruz but concerned with with the off gassing of the new plastic what would you advise in this situation thanks again for all the great videos
@whalen530 I wouldn’t use it on smooth trim, only porous trim. And if you’re concerned about off gassing I’d wait a few months as new trim shouldn’t need restoring as urgently. If you’re nervous you could just use something like Vonixx Synergy Plastic to protect it vs restoring it
So it said to use Dawn on my packet of this. I guess you thought that CarPro Eraser would be better? I have that as well. I wasn't sure if I really needed to do anything before applying this because I just washed my car with Purple Power RV and Boat strip wash. But I am going to have a heck of a lot of this leftover if it lasts for 200 washes. I bet I don't use more than 2 packs on my car and I bought 2 whole bags! Guess I have some Christmas gifts on my hands! I guess you can't use this on interior light gray door jambs? Have you ever tried that?
Id stick to exterior surfaces and if they recommend dawn then go with dawn. I used Eraser as I had just done a rinseless wash and wanted to remove any body oils on the trim pieces and eraser is great at removing oils.

Does the fade come back after a while?. Or is this a permanent fix to restore. Just curious. I used a product once For a customer and a week later fades stated to come back.. if this a good permanent solution then I'll stay using this one..
@@attention2detailswchelsea Awesome , thank you so much.. I like products the do what they say it does ya know haha . Thanks for the video. It helped me alot. I've detailed in the summers for years but now I'm thinking more of business aspect of it.
Cerakote trim restorer as a 2year warranty against fading, When you take into account, That other similar products only last months, Its a no brainer!!👍
I used cerakote about a month ago. Very resilient but left A LOT of streaks and patches . Sad actually as it was the strongest and one of the better products I have used.
Attention 2 Details w/ Chelsea It’s a lasting product for sure for sure. In most areas my trim looks great but others it became very streaked even when using single strokes and in the same direction.

As in the saying you get what you pay for, Its guaranteed to last 2years or 200car washing s, The instructions state there trim restorer works best on textured plastic and not smooth flat surfaces!! Also for best results pick a overcast day or apply in a shaded area and not in direct Sunlight!! Anyways you did a marvellous job looks amazing!! 🫡😎👍
Hey Chelsea, nice vid. If could suggest trying Gyeon Trim Coating. Has some self cleaning properties, will keep blacks black, and greys ( I've used which turned out great on), and should last up to about a year. I believe the chemical resistance is pretty good as well. Its around $40-48$ or so. Hope that helps. Pretty user friendly. When you did the 4 tired coating test, the Optimum tire dressing, did you use that full strength or did you dilute it? I couldn't remember how you used it. Full strength or diluted 2:1? If you have the time, I had two questions for you non tire coating related. Any way I could email you? you can reply when you have time. Thanks, keep up the great vids!
Thank you for the video. This appears to be similar to Wipe New, a Rust-Oleum product which produced great results on a 20 year old Volvo wagon. They key to success with any of these products is a thorough cleaning of the surface. Wipe New recommended using a trisodium phosphate (TSP), an inexpensive cleaner. I used TSP in addition to Meguiars Super Degreaser. due to the age of the vehicle Wipe New lasted about 2 years, but my Volvo was mostly garaged.
Why does this work for 50% of people really well And 50% turns out horrible?? I just ordered some and very nervous to use it on my 2022 Hyundai Santafe.
I’ve used it on an older dodge and it works great but don’t get it on paint. Tape off areas you don’t want it on. If you try and use the wipes too long it can cause streaking. Overall a great product though
Be very careful with this stuff, I used it on my Explorer, one side looks great the other side is all white crystalized marking and it wont come off. Emailed their support and so far nothing.
@@lockergr They said that once you apply the coating you cannot apply it again until the car washes remove it over time. The only way to remove it is with nail polish remover. I scrubbed most of it off and have gone back to Chemical Bros VRP. I wont use the product again.
@@bbrewer609 Wow. I have two bags of this and was planning on giving them as Christmas gifts. That sounds pretty frightening. I can't imagine that acetone did your trim any favors. I'd be ticked off. Is there any chance that you exposed them to heat? I store all of my things indoors. I'm hoping that they are still okay but at least I know how to remove it now. I know Pan the Organizer really likes that Chemical Guys product, especially on tires. Maybe I should have gotten that.
@@lockergr No exposure to heat at all. Their support says its a chemical reaction when you apply their coating, let it dry then go over it again. It goes crystalized white. I only went over it because the first coat wasn't solid black which is obviously why we all buy it. Lesson learned Im staying with VRP. I think maybe with a really old vehicle that had badly weather worn plastics it might prove more reliable.
@@bbrewer609 Well that last bit definitely sounds like my car. But I definitely feel you on trying out these detailing products and then discovering that maybe they weren't what you expected. I just clayed my car for the first time and I think I was more careful than most people would be and was extremely thorough with my wash in advance, but I still scratched my paint. So, in that regard I think that when I get a new car I will leave the physical decon and paint correction to the experts. At least I'm messing with and experimenting with an '07 and not a new ride. But thanks for letting me know. I'm definitely going to be extremely careful with this stuff, and perhaps giving it as a gift is not the best idea. What type of alcohol do you recommend to safely clean the trim before applying a coating? Alcohol won't fade it?
It shouldn't. You can use even standard 50/50 alcohol or something like IGL precoat or CarPro eraser
