- Many of you asked for it in the previous gear video... So here it is!
I have put together a demo/review video which goes through my piezo setup on the Sterling by Musicman JP150 and 157 guitars using the Graphtech Ghost system. Hopefully this answers all of your questions; If I have missed anything please leave it in the comments section!
As always - thanks again to Tom Thornton for his video wizardry.

Finally. Somebody who knows how to pronounce piezo
Great video Adam. I’m just building an electric and thinking of putting the Ghost in.
I picked up the Boss/Roland GK3 setup back in 2017. The control module clamped to the body and exposed wire to the pickup is a nuisance, so I have another GK3 pickup that can be a permanent install in the body . . . but, it is placed around 20mm from the bridge.
I have the GP-10 pedal/processor . . . you can also link to a computer and download new patches . . . but, I only 'discovered' the Graphtech saddle piezo systems recently and am impressed. I am not a performer, but being able to select a Martin or Gibson, a Classical Nylon sound, or 12-strings that can take you from Gordon Lightfoot to Roger McGuinn with the flip of a switch . . . awesome fun.
I’m building a carved top jazz guitar but with a thickness
more like a Gibson 335. Not specifically your setup but do you think graph tech system would work using a tuneomatic bridge to give more of a full depth jazz guitar sound ?
great video! Do they make a set up for an archtop jazz guitar with a wooden bridge?? thanks!
Nice video! I have the ghost system in my eletric guitar, and I like too much your system application.
💚Hi. Thanks for your demo. Im replacing my saddles on my EBMM JP6. Im required now to upgrade the preamp, with the newer fishman saddles, as the old saddle are no longer available. Apparently theres a db drop if I use the newer saddles with older preamp. Hence why I am here. So, graphtec saddles with old fishman JP6 preamp? will it work?
Hey Adam...very very good video!
My GT Ghost is installed on my PEAVEY T-60 guitar. ...has its separate magnetic and piezo output jacks. GT Ghost has an on/off switch. I get a large amount of "ground" hum (I think) when the system is on. But when my fingers touch the (T-60) metal knobs, the hum stops. Any suggestions of "fixing this? My Tech guy suggests I should use a wireless transmitter. I saw on a forum, somesone suggests that I can adjust "the preamp gain down via the little adjustment pot on the (GT) board. I love the GT system but hate the hum. Help?
sounds like a grounding issue, and single coils just hum anyways if you are using those...
Thank you so much for making this video!! I’m sold on the Fishman Aura DI. How does it sound on the nylon setting? Does it at least get you in the ball park of a nylon guitar sound?
Thanks for the feedback! I'm afraid I don't play nylon guitar so I can't really compare the feel of it to the real thing but it does a great job to my ears!
Hello brother, I want to know, what do I need to buy ghost pickup size ? For a piezo system for ( sterling jp150 sahara burst ) and spliter box model? , I'm not very good at English, please advise, thanks.
Can you explain me how piezo only works and magnetic pickups inactive when you were on the upper position on the pieze switch?
Md Farooque sure - the switch is 3 way.
The top position is piezo only (magnetic disabled).
The middle position is piezo and magnetic active together.
The bottom position is magnetic only (piezo disabled).
Does the piezo system kit have the instruction how to do it?
Hey Adam ! Greetings form Canada I am completely divided here I love all your videos and your original pieces are equally amazing ! BURNING QUESTION FOR YOU the difference from the jp 3 tone sunburst my guitar ) and the jp100D is only a matter of pickups SO which ones are better dimarzios crunch lab + liquifire or the illuminators ? I heard these tweaks make a huge difference in the performance because the stock pickups rn are pretty shite tbh. I'd love to hear your answer since it looks like you have the same guitar the sterling jp100 in your videos but I can't tell which set of pickups you have ! Really hope to hear from you soon man also if you can tell me what sizing ex: f spaced) to order that would also help. Cheers thank you !
Since You're more likely to use the bridge pickup, here is a comparison video. ua-cam.com/video/dqjFSMoqUPU/v-deo.html
Zachary Brownlow thanks man definitely helped ! ^^^
Are those chrome EBMM knobs? If so, where did you get them?
I got those years ago directly from the EB website back when they stocked all the spare parts. I think that if you get in touch with EB dealers in your country they can get them - I recently got a Majesty output jack from my local dealer. Hope that helps!
Hi, can i see the modifications that you make to your guitar to install the piezo?
For the Ghost system, I only needed to drill a hole between electronics and bridge cavities to allow the pickup cables to go from the bridge to the preamp (which is hidden in the electronics cavity). On that guitar, it's a very tight fit but it works.
I subbed and liked and notifications on
Adam yoused to be my getar teacher in year 6 hi Adam ! 😭😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂
Brilliant. I've been looking for a demo like this for a real-world user. Well done. I am planning on adding both the acousticphonic and hexpander kits as I want to be able to play through midi a cello, french horns and viola SFX... I was thinking of a line 6 helix but am open to modern set ups as online everything seems to be configured to the old GR-55 which seems quite outdated as does the axon. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions are welcome.
A thought, as I'm going the HX Stomp & Helix route and looking into getting a piezo bridge, you can use have two signal paths in parallel in the Helix, one for electric guitar sounds, the other as a preamp/gain boost for the piezo and run it through an acoustic guitar impulse response (it basically digitally "puts an acoustic guitar body" on the piezo signal). The results I've heard sound incredible.
Hi
Can u tell me what splitter box u are using?
Tks
I use the RJM Y-Not splitter - I used to MIDI control it back when I did this video but I now have it permanently on. It's a great splitter with ground isolation and mono/stereo options.
Tks buddy
