Never mind “O Canada”; THIS is the de facto Canadian national anthem. Bless you, Stan Rogers. And thank you, Wellermen, for a brilliant interpretation.
For those wondering where Luke is, he did NOT leave the band! Luke confirmed himself that he was super busy with work and school! He says he should be on the next track! 👍
That whole song shook me to my core and started tears flowing. Having studied music my whole life, I have performed in many places; but your harmonies and the lyrics struck a deep chord within me. Thank you so very much!
Fun fact, this song is about a trans Canada road trip heading west from the east coast. Blew my mind when I learned that. I had always assumed it was sort of set in the old days when adventurers were carving a trail across this great land. I love it even more knowing what it is now.
This!!!! I was trying to figure out why those specific notes were so unsettling to me, and this is exactly it. It’s just like massive ice shards. (And because I’m mentally a child, I initially typed arse shards and now can’t stop giggling)
This cover as absolutely amazing. A yt comment will never be able to explain the beauty of this song. You can get a real since of the emotion of the song. That is almost impossible to get. Phenomenal job gentleman.
Absolutely AMAZING, TALENTED, MOVING and soul-wrenching! The singing and performing makes me think I am actually on the expedition with Lord Franklin. I don't know why you guys don't have a major record label sign you all for a multi-album deal! Our gain, please don't stop making videos and music! Love your rendition of the Wellerman also! I highly recommend the movie, "The Fishermen's Friends". also! I am actually 3rd generation for serving in the US Navy. Son of a son of a sailor. Merry Christmas gentlemen! Please keep doing what you are all doing! 500 thumbs up!
Thank you for your stirring rendition of this great Canadian song--not a sea shanty, nor a folk song, but a modern anthem for our country and a paean to its soul. But I wish you had included in the credits above, an acknowledgement of its composer, the late Stan Rogers (1949-1983). It would be only justice to a good man and great artist, taken from us far too young. My God, can it really be forty years ago?
Seth has such an incredible voice! I wanted him to do this song, but this collaboration is so much more beautiful than I could have imagined. Well done!
Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea; Tracing one warm line through a land so wild and savage And make a Northwest Passage to the sea. Westward from the Davis Strait 'tis there 'twas said to lie The sea route to the Orient for which so many died; Seeking gold and glory, leaving weathered, broken bones And a long-forgotten lonely cairn of stones. [Chorus] Three centuries thereafter, I take passage overland In the footsteps of brave Kelso, where his "sea of flowers" began Watching cities rise before me, then behind me sink again This tardiest explorer, driving hard across the plain. [Chorus] And through the night, behind the wheel, the mileage clicking west I think upon Mackenzie, David Thompson and the rest Who cracked the mountain ramparts and did show a path for me To race the roaring Fraser to the sea. [Chorus] How then am I so different from the first men through this way? Like them, I left a settled life, I threw it all away. To seek a Northwest Passage at the call of many men To find there but the road back home again. [Chorus
I hope you lads do all the big tracks again as more and more bassists come forth. Becuaer I think this with the bass of misty mou trains would absolutely kill 🍻
One of my favorite songs *ever* performed with soul and skill by excellent musicians! Here's a suggestion for another song - The Witch of the Westmerland (by Archie Fisher, or the cover by Stan Rogers)!
/happy The Terror fan noises/ Honestly, this is so powerful! I just have no words. I just imagine Terror and Erebus stuck in ice, three graves on Beechey Island, that face of John Torrington… Ahhh I’ve got chills again. Bravo guys!
I can’t believe I am saying this, but I think I enjoy/love it more than the original from Stan Roger’s. Or maybe not. It’s a close call. Absolutely beautiful.,
My only complaint about this video is some of it's edditing; when it transitions between singers, but the domant voice isn't that if the person appearing on the screen, it can be a bit disorienting, similar to the misuse of a jump cut can diaorient a viewer. Such errors remind the viewer they are watching a video; pulling them out of the experience. The same is true when a movie's pace bogs down, jumos around too much, etc. Still a good video overall, this is why it's good to let someone not involved in a project view it, just as it's good to have aomeone else read your essay, their distance from the project makes them often more able to spot errors.

It's criminal how few likes this rendition has.
For those wondering where Luke is, he did NOT leave the band! Luke confirmed himself that he was super busy with work and school! He says he should be on the next track! 👍
Thank you!
Ah, and here I thought he went to the deigobah system...sorry he's probably sick of star wars joke's but I couldn't help it.
Glad to hear it
Maybe i was a seafarer in another life because this song provokes a lot of emotion🥺
Can't quite explain it.
Thank you for the wonderful rendition 🥰🌊
May the spirit of Stan Rogers smile upon you. Absolutely beautiful!
Fantastic! A great tribute to Stan Rogers.
Very kind of you to say
There’s something really lovely about this rendition: slowed-down tempo, the harmonies, even more ballad than shanty. Like an elegy. 🙏🏻
Terrific rendering all round. Seth's distinctive melodic voice is superb for the lead vocals - he gets better & better ...
Seth is wicked!!!
What a vocal thunderstorm, so powerful and harmonious, love this collab ❤️🔥🌊 🚣♀️🐋
That was the aim ;)
That whole song shook me to my core and started tears flowing. Having studied music my whole life, I have performed in many places; but your harmonies and the lyrics struck a deep chord within me. Thank you so very much!
Stan Rogers did some amazing songs ❤

@the.bobbybass face always has such sass/emotion. It's great. @sethstatonwatkins was fantastic. Great song gentlemen.
Garnet’s high notes were like shards of ice. You’ve done a wonderful tribute.
This!!!! I was trying to figure out why those specific notes were so unsettling to me, and this is exactly it. It’s just like massive ice shards. (And because I’m mentally a child, I initially typed arse shards and now can’t stop giggling)
This speaks to my Canadian blood. Thanks for that
I discovered this song only a few days ago. It is very moving and this particular performance is absolutely beautiful.
I love that you included the one background voice that rises during the chorus!
Singlehandely the best version of Northwest Passage i've seen yet
Dan Vasc does a tremendous rendition as well. Worth the YT search to hear it

This cover as absolutely amazing. A yt comment will never be able to explain the beauty of this song. You can get a real since of the emotion of the song. That is almost impossible to get. Phenomenal job gentleman.

I love this so much! So much heart!
Here's to the remaining passages "through lands so wide and savage!" They still draw the courageous.
That brought a tear to my eyes.
Goosebumps!
Great version, well done guys!
This was just ... beautiful. A joy to listen to. Every second was a work of art.

Here's a suggestion for another song - The Witch of the Westmerland (by Archie Fisher, or the cover by Stan Rogers)!
I would love to hear you guys cover the Witch of Westermerland, also “The Outside Track” that Garnet Rogers did so well
Thank you!!

Amazing voices!
/happy The Terror fan noises/
Honestly, this is so powerful! I just have no words. I just imagine Terror and Erebus stuck in ice, three graves on Beechey Island, that face of John Torrington… Ahhh I’ve got chills again.

Your voices are beautiful. I would love to hear this cover mixed with the Stan Rogers original! I think he must be listening from above❤️😭
This was really good dudes.
Thank you very much!
Great performances and mix! I wonder what it would sound like with one vocalist to begin with, then two, then three, and so on, add up over time?
You guys would do a lovely version of Wild Mountain Thyme. If you haven't already, although I didn't find it.
Cool as always! Good music and video in the style of The Wellermen!😊
Not quite ping pong balls!

I like it! But where‘s Luke?
He was just super busy atm!
