  • We stayed at the Intercontinental for 2 nights using our IHG free night certificate. We were so ready to leave by then because we just aren't resort life people. The rooms were a little dated for Intercontinental and the food was too pricy. Regardless, join us for this hotel room tour!

I don't mind a kind of retro look, the food looked great again, even if it was expensive.
But yeah, I don't think I'd be comfortable at resorts either, also, that "entertainment" (11:00) was a bit of a let down, ha ha!

We enjoy nice hotels but prefer being able to just relax or explore stuff. Unfortunately, the location was a bit too isolated to eat local foods and explore. Yeah, the nightly "show" was really so they could fill their "resort activities" with stuff. Thankfully we didn't pay to stay at the hotels, just for the meals.

True, but there are other hotels and resorts there that we've enjoyed more for less than the price! You never know whether it's for you until you get there, so it's always worth checking it out to know whether it's worth returning!

I went there a few years ago & we were hit with "pay $2000 fee" at check-in. Tell them your card only has a $1000 limit & they won't charge the $2000. Beer was half the price at the golf course & it was the only place we could find food that my then 2 year old daughter would eat (apart from heaps of fruit & yogurt)... Wouldn't go back again.

We'd probably go back to other hotels in Fiji, but not the Intercontinental.

We enjoyed the markets and the cheap food with locals! When a hotel is an international brand there are some expectations too! We wish we could travel more, and have been to many third world countries where the international hotels were great! And yes, there's a homeless and drug issue where we live. There are also a lot of other wonderful international and local hotels and accommodation in Fiji!

@@salaalford2159 It's an observation! Countries like Cuba have a lot of beautiful vintage cars! Enjoy Suva! It's on our list next time.

@@salaalford2159 We did enjoy our trip, and the other hotels we stayed at in Fiji were above our expectations! You take risks when you book hotels and some are better than others for what you pay. I don't think being cheap or thinking something is expensive or enjoying a vacation have anything to do with being lazy. Thanks for watching!
