At 2,392 meters (7847 feet) tall, Mt Bromo is not among the tallest of Indonesia’s mountains but its stunning beauty lies in its incredible setting. Mount Bromo is part of the Tengger Caldera, an enormous crater which comprises five volcanoes surrounded by a vast area of sand.
Mount Bromo's breathtaking and ethereal landscape has been swooned by many travelers, who mostly hike up nearby Mount Penanjakan in time to catch one of the world's best spots to watch the sunrise.

Magical video. Java is such a wonderful destination, with spectacular landscapes and cultural heritage. Often overlooked, I guess, as many people only focus on Bali. But give it a try. Local food is great and the locals are the kindest people you can imaging. I am so lucky to have some friends and colleagues there.

I would normally guide tourists on tour to mount Bromo, where we would depart from Surabaya. But since the pandemic, I put my business in hiatus.
This video brought back memories when tour to Bromo was a regular occurrence.

If one day you may visit Bromo, go through Surabaya and to Malang City. Rent a car from Malang and get lost within the area. Truly natural beauty

Waiting for few minutes when i saw a sunrise.. Its wooow.. Its amazing... Its like heaven... I am lucky my home not far from the mountain.. I live everyday watch gunung batok.. I eat vegetables from bromo farmers... And we life with the legend of roro anteng and joko seger

Bromo is'nt the tallest mountain in java, but the mountain behind it is the tallest mountain in java island, it called Mount Sumeru.

1: I presume one can drive to that location where one views the sunrise (no arduous trek needed?) and
2: Is the trek up the staircase to Mt. Bromo easy or tough?
That's correct. You can drive up up all the way to the spot from where to watch the sunrise.
And no, climbing up Mount Bromo is not very demanding (the staircase you see in the clip is the hardest part)

1. only 4WD car can reach the sunrise spot ( available by rent )
2. We can climb to the crater. Some of stairs are damage by last erruption
