  • BukSU's Folk Dance Team was named CHAMPION of this year's MASTS Philippine Folk Dance Competition!
The narrative behind the performance is about the Regatones, also known as traveling fish vendors, who used to wait for the arrival of fishermen in the town of Cadiz, now Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, along with the women fish buyers (Labaceros). They rush to the Banca to choose and purchase the fish they would like to market. The Regatones sell the fish using two "Paraka" (a shallow circular bamboo basket attached to both ends of a long flat strip or the "Tuwang-tuwangan" balanced on the shoulder).
While waiting for the fishermen, the Regatones and women fish buyers tease each other by doing "tuwangan" and tricks with their "tuwang-tuwangan" with the paraka, which later evolved into Folkdance.
