I said this before but I’ll say it again, the employees in this show need to chill with the whole ragging on people because their too slow, everyone on the first day is obviously gonna be slow, it takes a bit to get your bearings, once you learn how to do everything than the speed comes. Remember everyone was new once & just because you’re no longer new it doesn’t mean you can rag on people because they are, everyone has been slow at their job at one point, it’s unfair to compare people on their first day to people who’ve worked there for a long time, speed comes in time, once you know the trade the speed will come with it, but speed doesn’t help anything if you don’t know what you’re doing & how to do it right so just learn the job at hand & remember that the more you do things the faster you’ll get, no one is a perfect employee on their first day.
30:08 It's too bad that the theater doesn't have an Emergency Generator? If it did this problem wouldn't have happened. It would be as simple as getting on a differently powered PA system and letting people know that the power will be back on and staff will be to each theater to answer any questions. 33:20 It should ALWAYS be Wider not only on Thursday's! There are PWD People With Disabilities and people who use Mobility Aids like Walkers, Wheelchairs, Mobility Scooters etc. If I was the CEO I'd be PISSED! I would of got her a cart to transport the items to the party rooms and put a system in that the person has to who is having the party would have to give you a headcount and when the party goers arrive you would have to have a second headcount so you could make shore the proper amount of pizza to the type of order is made on time and the party goers are satisfied. I like how you are willing to make the new changes in newer theaters to bring the party room closer to the food.

Just a comment. If you make minimum wage of $8.00 /hour and work 7 hours a day, your daily pay is $56. After taxes and insurance you keep 49$ and I think gross budget hotels cost $49. So you’d have to starve everyday just to sleep. CEO s have no idea how to survive on minimum wage.
Pay doubled but pretty much everything else doubled too. Just food, I come out of the grocery with a small bag, over 100$ barely a week of food for 1 person. And that's without the good stuff like t-bone steaks, fish etc. I remember having 3 full heavy bag about to break for that price and i'm not old, so that's not so long ago.

You people don't get it. Canadian episodes were filmed before American episodes . This was before youtube was huge and only made to be seen in Canada. Canada does not have a culture of giving large sums of money on TV. The producers of the show decided on the American episodes to give larger prizes because thats what Americans are accustomed to seeing. And if you think these "gifts" have anything to so with generosity you can't be so niave. Its the producers and the amount they give away is all figured out at the beginning of filming when they sign there contracts.
Bruh the fact that a single shift is a “workout”, that’s literally what they do everyday. It’s not easy especially being required on ur feet at all times for ur 8hr shift
He should have been fair enough and be open to the projector guy: "A women just tried for 45 minutes to tell me what an 'S' is -- so good luck to you!"
hope the ppl mad about concession prices know movie theatres make basically no money from movie tickets ,,, like ,, literally cents , concession is the only place we make money
She trains him to mop but wrong. You scrub the floor like he was doing with the mop head wet then wring it out, then with the mop head dried you "MOP" up the cleaning liquid. Simple... She was training him to smear shit, not clean it up.
Compared to the US version the "rewards" given in the Canadian version are pretty pathetic. But then it also seems the US version has a lot of truly down-on-their-luck workers who strive to be great employees even while dealing with serious issues.
Interesting to watch this episode as I worked at a cinema in the UK for 5 years and did all of the jobs shown here. What a cheapskate this guy is though. All the other episodes see thousands given away, these get prizes that would mostly be valued at a few hundred dollars. It must be an industry thing as the big bosses at my cinema chain were total cheapskates too.
It's always disappointing seeing some of these CEO's. Some of them seem to be really nice and legitmately caring, and others seem to play favorites with some of the employees and or just cheap. Isn't fair to the employees who basically make them their money
One word... CHEAP. Cheap theatres, that kids party was a joke. It's like the equivalent of ordering Dominos and putting on NetFlix. Except the pizzas even worse and the floors are sticky. The power outage shit. Overpriced concessions. Most of all, a cheap, stingy boss. Those gifts were some of the worse I've ever seen. Much smaller companies had given away houses, cancer treatments, new cars, tens of thousands of dollars. Often times personal gifts from the CEO to the worker. Yet this guy still had a smile on his face like he was a king handing out massive favors. And the narrator before hand, "coming up next, the CEO changes his employees lives." He did? This guy should have watched a few epsiodes of the American version. See how much to give away so he didn't look like a cheap miser in charge of a cheap, shitty theatre chain.
I hate working with people like that. she's like the kid who tattles in grade school. no fun. probably worse/ more bossy when the cameras aren't there. relax. it's minimum wage.
I like the Canadian series. More homely. "I'm the CEO of the company" "Oh my goodness!" "Denise, I was touched by your story of the medical expenses for your mother's slight cough. I've decided to give you $10 to cover the prescription cost" "I... I... can't believe it!" "Not only that. you mentioned your young son lost his ice- hockey puck? I can't believe that in any civilised country a boy only has 1 hockey puck! I will personally give you this new hockey puck and a $20 bill to be put aside in a trust fund to be used to purchase new hockey pucks at any time until your son is 18!" "This is the most wonderful moment in my life...and my son's!" (Brings out box of tissues)
You know I'm actually one of those kids in the pizza party and funny thing is they had enough Pizza the first time my brother just ate a pizza slice very quickly and then gasolated them into giving us another Pizza
Billion dollar greed........... go figure. Shrink your boardroom. Even though people pay to see a movie, if 100 people go in, but only 30 can afford popcorn and drink, you're losing sales. If the snacks were cheaper, more people could AFFORD them. EVERYBODY is on a "fixed" income, I work 40 hrs/wk, but I can't go to my boss and say "hey I need an extra $150.00 to take my family to the movies this weekend". WTF???? not everybody can AFFORD movies and snacks.
Lower price great service great cheap snacks great movies seats that make you feel your in the movies clean no sticky floors nasty seats I'm a customer in the usa
you have to remember that the price of a movie tix goes to the film company that made the movie there is hardly any profit in the price of the ticket so the movie theaters make the most of their money in consessions so there is the high prices, but i do agree with ya i want to see a clean place be able to enjoy the moviein fact november of 2018 i got to go to a newer regent theater talked to a manager before going in side not knowing he was a manager and the expireance the whole time was incredible and i will go back. to have four wonderful employees is great and remember this show doesn;t show everything that happened in one shift.

Just 6 years old fotage but it feels like this was filmed in the 80s. There are no more cinema, blackberries, download to own services.
Thinking the same thing…
Man i read some comments and after watching this one i have to say you guys are so right....what a cheap bastard....yeah the trips are cool but it costs money to have fun in Paris or Vegas or new york....how about kicking some of that billions of dollars so they can do it right....they might never get to do it again
Just a comment. If you make minimum wage of $8.00 /hour and work 7 hours a day, your daily pay is $56. After taxes and insurance you keep 49$ and I think gross budget hotels cost $49.
So you’d have to starve everyday just to sleep. CEO s have no idea how to survive on minimum wage.
it is now 14 an hour in Canada
7.25 where I live!
Pay doubled but pretty much everything else doubled too. Just food, I come out of the grocery with a small bag, over 100$ barely a week of food for 1 person. And that's without the good stuff like t-bone steaks, fish etc. I remember having 3 full heavy bag about to break for that price and i'm not old, so that's not so long ago.
well you got min wage hiked. Now Cineplex gonna shut down soon. Cheers!
Support indie cinemas & art houses instead.
5:19 HUHUHUHUHUH LOL YES POP POPCORN WITH THE PEASANTS HOW AMUSING HUHUHUUH
What a great episode thank you for posting it! 😍
55 year anniversary and they buy him a frigging TV 🙄
Not just any tv. And he and his wife get a private showing of his favorite movie.
These are thoughtful, heartfelt gifts, picked for each person's interests. It isn't all about money.
6:54
yes that's right, they cut the large size drink in half and then raised the price by a dollar
you don't have to go on a tv show to think up that stupid idea
Fuck you and that douchebag Justin Bieber. Cineplex (and Famous Players) has, does, and will always rule way more than Justin Bieber ever could on his best day.
Mickey Deez Who is Just in Beaver? ;)
Scarlet Bammmbi and water's down the soda
I’ve never seen a cinema being referenced, investigated on a show like this. Love it! Wish I could head to a Cineplex. Only ever been to a Regal/Cineworld, Odeon/UCI, AMC, Gaumont/Pathe (France), etc.
Didn’t spend the dollars but he was so thoughtful in what he did ...
STINGY ...that was all just a token to make him feel good ...so lcky to have those good people work for him ...i did,nt see any lives greatly changed ...
Kinda funny how he / they used Judah , a Jewish name . Don't worry , I'm not being bad or anything , just found it curious
I think for the party room, when you order pizza, you should be require to order 1 for every 3 guests. That should be enough for everyone who wants 2 slices to have them, then the rest can be sent home.
Concession prices are way over the top. That's the big killer of people not going to the movies.
How can you make movie theaters better?
*Don’t make snacks cost an arm & a leg.*
Thank God that for once the hair stylist fitted a decent looking hair piece that's doesn't look like a mop! Fire the other ones and keep her for all the transformations!!
I wonder how theaters are doing now in 2021
Very Special thanks to Cineplex Cinemas which celebrates us 100 years of movie memories.
44:31 Credits
The Canadian Film or Video
Production Tax Credit
I watched this until the end. What got me is the first girl he talked to said. "I did not think I would ever be able to afford this trip to New York." What do these people make. New York is not a terribly expensive trip. They need to pay their employees more I think.
18:38 ITG dedicabs, currently theres only one ITG cab and one DDR Supernova 2 cab
Man this show is wonderful schadenfreude for minimum wage workers.
I can tell you for a fact that nothing changed within the company after this episode when I used to work there 😂
Theatre at 7:33 is the one I went to all the time as a kid, and still do from time to time. Used to look terrible before they repainted it.
20:44 “but Jodie’s other love is cleaning” ayo what the fuck lmao
Yeah, spot the bloody lie!
As a new cast member I find this attempt of showing us about how he lets the individual cinemas run there shifts are all wrong and know one runs it the same was when it comes to training new cast members.
Some of the TL trainers do not treat there cast members at all like co-workers and treat them like garbage if you work for this company and are a cast member please let me know if this is how you’ve been treated I would like to know your feed back
You people don't get it.
I think Canada should rule the world! such lovely people
Due respect is exemplary !💖💖💖
Stingy, stingy,,, it´s a pity that The CEO don't appreciate his employees efforts to run his business the way they do! Amazing
This was definitely an inspiration for my sitcom script AT THE PICTURES. Just set in Britain rather than Canada or the U.S.
I can't stand that customers leave their trash at their seats after they leave..l hate that it's awful. Piggish
He should start investing in movie theaters in small towns in America if he wants to make more money, Our American theaters suck compared to his!!
I don’t know Kevin Queen, some here are pretty cool. Better than they used to be
I was in this episode
Stefan Gower time stamp?
She still knew she was being watched....She is putting on a show....
I wonder if as of June-20-2022 is the older man still alive? And I would like an update on all the employees featured on this episode.
LOVED IT...............
She trains him to mop but wrong.
You scrub the floor like he was doing with the mop head wet then wring it out, then with the mop head dried you "MOP" up the cleaning liquid.
Simple...
She was training him to smear shit, not clean it up.
Thats what I was thinking. Funny how she said its the easiest thing to learn but she didnt do it right.
Some bosses are cheap this guy is one of them
Compared to the US version the "rewards" given in the Canadian version are pretty pathetic.
The CEO is really CHEAP! I wouldn't want to work for someone as tight as him!
It's always disappointing seeing some of these CEO's. Some of them seem to be really nice and legitmately caring, and others seem to play favorites with some of the employees and or just cheap. Isn't fair to the employees who basically make them their money
Wow good message
Intermissions to go piss grab snacks or smoke a doobie....please make this happen
One word... See how much to give away so he didn't look like a cheap miser in charge of a cheap, shitty theatre chain.
where are the hair safetynet ?
this guy is one in a million.
I think Cody is great!!
Me watching a Movie on my Blackberry on a 1G network👀👀👀👀
Jodi has no clue how to entertain children. Running out of drinks, pizza, movie not in and ready to play when they were ready. Completely unplanned.
I hate working with people like that. she's like the kid who tattles in grade school. no fun. probably worse/ more bossy when the cameras aren't there. relax. it's minimum wage.
I agree
She seemed like a bit of a micromanager in my opinion. Like bruh chill he’s mopping a floor not defusing a bomb.
Paul is the best i work with him when i was there he is one of the best employees
woah the boss is from India ...lots of respect proud to be an Indian
Every Canadian is Indian.
Some raises for all would have been nice.
I saw the planet I knew it was Pickering lol
do not underestimate your self with a degree in business you should have had a job in office anywhere else a long time ago
Yaaay Libras ♎️ ♥️🖤💚
Yes, this CEO is completely underwhelming
I like the Canadian series.
More homely.
"I'm the CEO of the company"
"Oh my goodness!"
"Denise, I was touched by your story of the medical expenses for your mother's slight cough. I've decided to give you $10 to cover the prescription cost"
"I... I... can't believe it!"
"Not only that. you mentioned your young son lost his ice- hockey puck? I can't believe that in any civilised country a boy only has 1 hockey puck! I will personally give you this new hockey puck and a $20 bill to be put aside in a trust fund to be used to purchase new hockey pucks at any time until your son is 18!"
"This is the most wonderful moment in my life...and my son's!"
(Brings out box of tissues)
Bahahahahahha. This comment is GOLD!
He should keep that look.
I find it funny that nothing has changed except more expensive and more strict
Boss that voice is smoove bossman need a radio
One of the cheapest CEO not one penny given
Lower price great service great cheap snacks great movies seats that make you feel your in the movies clean no sticky floors nasty seats I'm a customer in the usa
you have to remember that the price of a movie tix goes to the film company that made the movie there is hardly any profit in the price of the ticket so the movie theaters make the most of their money in consessions so there is the high prices, but i do agree with ya i want to see a clean place be able to enjoy the moviein fact november of 2018 i got to go to a newer regent theater talked to a manager before going in side not knowing he was a manager and the expireance the whole time was incredible and i will go back. to have four wonderful employees is great and remember this show doesn;t show everything that happened in one shift.
Want they do dine in like movie studio n grill. They bring food to you 🤷🏼♀️
This guy is tight as f**k
i will never go Cineplex Entertainment afther i see how him
took care of people working there. soo poor soo cheap shali not giv one cent.
I don't want to go there anymore
you know the point of this show isn't to give gifts
