How To Fix A Shaky/Bouncing Speedometer [BEST CABLE LUBE]

  • The proper grease is this PTFE lubricant: amzn.to/2Cjp5kl
    In this video I show you how to diagnose and repair a shaky speedometer pointer/needle. In my case the speedometer cable needed to be cleaned and lubricated, and straightened just a tad.
    Don't use thin oils like WD-40, and don't use greases that can dry up such as white lithium grease. Stick with a top quality synthetic lubricant that can handle all temperatures and won't dry up or cause problems over time.
    SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE CAR VIDEOS!
    The vehicle shown in the video is a 1993 Ford Festiva. It has a traditional speedometer cable going from the transmission to the speedometer itself, however many newer vehicles use a speed sensor and wiring to deliver that information to the instrument cluster.
    Keywords: speedo, bouncing, needle, pointer, removal, jumping

    • @InternetDude
      @InternetDude  2 роки тому

      Hi, I also happen to have a 2007 Town Car. Your odometer is digital and the instrument cluster is electronic. This speedo cable lube video does not apply to your vehicle. Try asking for help on the Town Car forum here I am also a member @ lincolnforums.com/forums/forums/lincoln-town-car-forum-1981-2011.19/ someone there should know about that or even try searching first. I suspect an issue with the circuit board in the cluster, I know my F150 sometimes has the odometer blank out (but rarely), the problem on it is a bad solder joint on the circuit board.

  • @arjovenzia
    @arjovenzia 3 роки тому +2

    I dont think it it was the lube, more straightening out the kink. im not a car guy, but my physics brain tells me a kink like that will cause the rapid de-acceleration/acceleration with each rev that would cause the wobble. but if you do pull that cable, defiantly want to use good lube in reassembly. absolutely not WD-40.
    seen this in a few older cars. what I learnt, its a janky re-install of the dash that bends the speedo cable. the peoples cars that I have seen this effect in are definitely they type who have an "aaaah, just bash it in" mentality. they are also the same folk who have an 'we are doing an speed' mentality. Love ya dad.
