Hi sweet girlfriend. I've never seen such an emotional turkey in my life, lol. This baby responded to every single thing you said. So sweet. Love and God Bless you all.
I grew up loving "used brick" homes... I have a turkey that has taken to me- her name is Beatrice. The others pick on her-when I come in, she's like: Momma's here try that now! lol..I put her in the Ranger with me and we ride around the farm, she eats raisins, helps me in the greenhouse by eating bugs we have huge fans running up top and on the ground. When we get overheated we sit and rest a spell...She's so stinking cute!
You remind me of me 45 yrs. ago. with the animals. Being in our 70's, we no longer are farming so all we have now is 16 cats and 5 dogs. So I guess I'm reliving my life through you now!
Hi Patara :) It always feels like you are a neighbor down the street even though I'm in Oregon! I wanted to thank you for all your wonderful videos and I love how you are with your animals. I adopted a Great Pyrenees mix in March and I had the exact same approach so far as what you describe here. At the 3 month mark, I was able to let her loose with my chickens, but before that I kept her on leash at all times around them. But I kept her with me so she could watch and "help" me care for the chickens. Now I can trust her 100%! And she is able to tell the difference between chickens and wild birds! So she happily chases wild birds and treats her chickens like her babies. The same thing has happened with my two pet cats and one feral cat. She wanted to chase them at first but it took just a few weeks for her to learn that they were family. There are so many Great Pyrenees and livestock guardian dogs that end up in the shelters because people don't set them up for success! I'm so appreciative that you taught all your viewers this big responsibility. They can all do it--they're gentle giants-- but they are puppies first and want to play with things and chase them. No yelling or hitting needed for these sensitive dogs... they just need time to soak it all in and learn about their "family." Thank you again and I wish you continued success. Your flowers, corn... all the animals... so beautiful! Thank you!
We had five Pyrs over the years. We’d heard not to shave them, but one we rescued had been shaved, and she was fine when her fur grew out. So once a year we’d shave her. Such awesome dogs. They are wonderful.
We call Cleome by Old Man's Beard! Everything looks beautiful in your garden! Our daughter just got an Anatolian/Pyrenees mix puppy. He is beautiful and a very big boy! He will be a great asset to their farm.
Enjoyed your video Patara. Your flowers are beautiful and how very special to have seeds passed down to you. I have an Angel Wing Begonia that was first my grandmother then my Mother’s. Of all my plants it’s my favorite. Thanks for sharing.❤️🌸
Love the cleome. I began growing Crowder peas a few years ago from a jar of seeds my WWII vet father gave me, peas that came from my grandfather's farm in West GA. They were already about 15 years old when I planted them and they germinated! I have grown from seeds we saved every year and even this year when the rain has waterlogged my tomatoes, the peas are doing fantastic! True heirloom peas and *family* heirloom peas to boot. Love that.
I just love your down home commen sense. Your work ethics are like my family. Well at least when we were younger. We were raised on a dairy farm almost 300 acres so there was work from time you got up until after supper time. Your farm is gorgeous. You feed my spirt. Thank you.
Sweet Enolee just needs toys she is bored. Interactive toys. and you could make a place that’s ok for her to dig. Just love watching you thank you so much for your time to share with us.
I have a 3 year old Pyr named Andre (the Giant lol). Best chicken guardian ever! He’s as goofy as he is tough. We have a red step ladder and he is petrified of it 😂 He is an extreme love muffin! Love your turkey♥️ sweet as can be.
Hello from Texas. Thank you for sharing your process with us. I admire the way you are doing what is best for your animals and how you help them succeed. It takes a lot of love and hard work to help them live up to their potential. I think it's so nice about your great grandmother's flowers. What a lovely thought that the same hands that planted them are now blessing your property. I agree about the brown house, our little farmhouse is white with black framed windows minus the paint removed by the goats 😁 And who knew that little goats would eat a shrub with stickers? We have a 200# Great Dane and we introduced him to our mini donkey. He galloped up to her and girlfriend STOOD and never flinched. She is so fierce. Except for the border collie who learned quickly she would not be herded, nobody bothered her. Our Great Dane is very friendly from meeting every contractor as we were rebuilding after the flood but in a pinch I know he would have my back. I really enjoyed seeing the dynamics of your herd, you are doing an amazing job. Hugs to you my friend.
I don't know how anyone can butcher a turkey they've raised. They are the sweetest things. The first LGD I got was an Anatolian/Great Pyrenees female that was 9 months old. I bred her to a Great Pyrenee and kept her son. I've since decided they are the best dogs I've ever owned.
Yesterday, saw Mama deer and baby right next to me at clients home. Then when I left I saw three wild turkey 🦃. I'm sure there were more. They were in high grass. It's so wonderful to see wildlife.
Patara I have a Great Pyrenees and I found the best brush at a horse tac store! It is Lami-Cell Mane and Tail. This has been a game changer for me. Before I bought this brush he growled when I brushed him, but now he just lays there and let’s me get to work on him.
You're by far the best farm animal person I've seen on YT. I can't really watch the other channels because of how they treat their animals. (Love the turkey names too! I see what you did.😂)
I love my Great Pyrenees!! I have 3 as LGDogs. It did take some doing to integrate them with my older goats. But it's amazing to watch the bond that develops between the dogs and the younger goats!! God bless!
I love, love, love your Cosmos. What a great job you have done in managing all that you do. You are a great inspiration. It takes some of us longer to achieve what you have done in a year. ❤
I am in love with Miss Betty White! She is adorable 😍 I never knew a turkey could be so interactive and social. Your animals are all so bonded to their Mama Patara that they ALL seem to want to HUG you! I bet they'd all lie down with YOU and go to sleep, if they could. 🥰
We have our first great Pyrenees. She was one and half year old when we got her. She lived in TOWN (oh Lordy). It has been such a challenge. Besides digging, chewing everything in sight, she has tried mounting the goats, barking non stop at the cow and she killed one rooster. Oh my goodness. I am trying to keep her... My husband is fed up. So we have her in our big fenced in front yard and then the goats are in a makeshift pen inside the fenced in front yard. They cant really get to each other. So after a few months now Claire the GP has been known to go lay down by the goats pen!! 😉. So yes slow and steady and lots and lots of patience.
I enjoy you sharing all these things. I was raised on a dairy farm. Always had something to do. There was never a dull moment. May GOD bless you abundantly.
Hey I love brown and yellow brick homes. I feel you on the morning glories.. I'm blessed to have bought my grandparents home, where my Grammie planted morning glories when I was about 8. I'm now in my 30s and I battle morning glories from choking out my vegetables each year because they are everywhere on the property. We've tried burning them before they seed, burning twice a year, digging out, and now I've resulted to just pulling them like I do weeds and each year. God rest Grammie's soul, I know she's laughing, but at least I think of her each time I'm pulling the glories.
Absolutely live your interactions with your animals. I have Bernese Mountain dogs and they have hair like your Pyrenees. I tried the gloves but couldn’t get them to do a good enough job with their thick undercoat. I have found the rake works great!
Thank you SOOO much for this video. We have a GP puppy and a 2.5 yr old and are trying to figure out how to add them in with the sheep. The older was with goats previously and likes to sit and watch. The puppy is very playful so need to nip it before it causes a problem. This video just confirms that tethering is still a good option.
i lifted a bale of straw once and a whole family of rats were asleep under it. i was screaming and rats were running. ive never looked at a bale of straw the same since. p.s. i adore miss betty white.
Im about to go to a 4h show and your video beat me too it! Your animals are beautiful. We also have morning glories taking over but ours havent bloomed yet.
I’m training my LGD , Anatolian shepherd boy and he’s 7 months yes you’re absolutely right taking it slow. I have a big kennel with a large run inside the goats pen so they see each other all day and night and we’ve been having the issue with when the goat kids start running he chases but he gets a verbal correction and put away and then I come back a little while later and we do it all again. I cringe watching so many people just throw the puppy in with whatever livestock the dog will be guarding and I would be terrified I’d find a dead goat or dead puppy, but some people get lucky and it works out but I’m trying to do it the right way.
I'm a new sub. So I'm doubling back & viewing your older vlogs. Since everyone is voicing their opinions...I don't like the color orange but I LOVE your content 🥰 ROLL TIDE 😂😂😂 I'm excited to view your other videos ❤

Aww, I love the way you are with your animals.
I love how you interact and love your critters and how you nurture the land. I wish more people were like us.
Love seeing all the sweet critters! Your flowers are gorgeous!!!❤️😘🙏🏻

I am a new subscriber and Granny Karma sent me over.. I just absolutely love the relationship you have with the animals on your homestead.🥰
Girl you are a beautiful soul. All your animals are gorgeous and I admire you.

I've never seen spider flowers, how gorgeous!!
You are such a good mama to all your animals !!! Thanks for sharing !!
Are you sure your really not Dr. Dolittle instead of Patara? You and your animals are adorable and you have the patience of a Saint. 🥰
Enjoyed your video Patara. Your flowers are beautiful and how very special to have seeds passed down to you. I have an Angel Wing Begonia that was first my grandmother then my Mother’s. Of all my plants it’s my favorite. Thanks for sharing.❤️🌸
I love the color of your Cosmos!! All the animals look well. Keep well, yourself.

As an animal lover, you make me proud!!!
Your turkeys are so awesome! The care you give your animals is so evident based on their response to you.
I just love your down home commen sense. Your work ethics are like my family. Well at least when we were younger. We were raised on a dairy farm almost 300 acres so there was work from time you got up until after supper time. Your farm is gorgeous. You feed my spirt. Thank you.
The corn looks so beautiful!
Sweet Enolee just needs toys she is bored. Interactive toys. and you could make a place that’s ok for her to dig. Just love watching you thank you so much for your time to share with us.
I love your approach to animal husbandry. You are so wise and intuitive.
My LGDs always get fed in different locations, with locked gates in between! You're approach to training is very good.
That is so nice to have family heirloom seeds.
That turkey is precious! ❤️
I have had the same experience. The process is gradual with gaurdian dogs. Pure Pyrs are so much easier. I had a cross breed puppy. Loved her.
You are fantastic and blessed. Only a person with spiritual values can talk like that. Zaida Puerto Rico
I love your attitude to animals and all nature xx
I have a 3 year old Pyr named Andre (the Giant lol). Best chicken guardian ever! He’s as goofy as he is tough. We have a red step ladder and he is petrified of it 😂 He is an extreme love muffin! Love your turkey♥️ sweet as can be.
It struck me today as i watched you with that turkey and dog.....you must have been an expressive and joyful child!
Her When Haters Gonna Hate vid talks about her mom's advice, and think it shows where she gets it.
Oh those cosmos are beautiful. Great photography. Everything so healthy. Thanks for showing us. Its freezing where I live in Australia.
That turkey 🦃 is so very funny. Had no idea that they could have a personality. Never been around a turkey or chicken 🐔 !!!
I love the generational passing down of seeds.
I love your garden stories and just enjoy hearing about your beautiful homestead. Thank you for sharing with us :)
I'm a big time Tennessee Vols fan! I want a great pyrenees puppy so bad

If you ever wanted to sell your saved seeds...I would for sure love to buy some from you! Especially your Great-grandmother's Cleome! 💕

Just found your channel. Love it!
The cleome we call 'skunk weed' cause it has a faint scent of a skunk. My dad got seeds and without us doing anything...they are EVERYWHERE! LOL!!
Love the turkey.
Sorry huge Thunderstorm ⛈️ JO JO IN VT 💕😄
Just watched through a second time and very impressed by your work with the dogs.

That is a sweet and spunky pup! Yikes! Please don't say winter is coming. We've had an unseasonably cold and wet summer in NY and I miss the heat.
So gorgeous, Patera. Thank you.
