Your demos are the most critical ones I watch on my quest. I still don't own a synth capable of being a "modulate everything" swiss army knife with a lot of physical controls. My favorite sounding synth is the Waldorf Blofeld, based on demos by a diverse army of UA-camrs, and I've never heard an instrument that, IMO, sounds anything like it. I'm just not sure I can get into a flow state with that UI. But I'm rambling. Thanks for all you do, Jexus.
Everything is true and everything is false depending how you look at it. I think the critical issue when it comes to synths is time and how you value it. When I was younger I had a lot of free time, plus I thought I would live forever. I would spend endless hours discovering & learning the most convoluted interfaces and the potential for sound creation. When you do it this way, eventually you get the "flow state" and virtually every synth feels like a "swiss army knife". You warm up to the synth, become sentimental, etc. Now my approach is different; firstly, having several separate tools seems more fun than one "swiss army knife";) Secondly, I started to value synths which have good UI (it saves time) in the first place, plus good sound. I mean... satisfactory. You don't really need "best", it's an illusion anyways. A lot of goodness comes from production and composition / dynamics, not necessarily the synth itself.
