This looks great! I'm not sure how you've wired it all or what a door actuator is.. but im googling now!! Thank you for sharing!

A material list would of been great.

When I get a chance to make it a little more professional instead of just tinkering to see what will and wont work, I will put together a better video and include a materials list. Thanks for watching.

    Are those actuators water proof?

I’ve been looking for something like this as an alternative to a store bought Batt Latch!
I need a horse separated into his pasture shed by himself to eat his extra feed each evening, and also need to have the gate stay open afterwards so the other horses can access it.
What type of timer would you suggest that would allow me to set a “countdown” of 1-3 hours to delay the gate opener. I know the deer feeder timers are meant to have a set time of day and that’s not a good fit for my application.
Great work! I know lots of horse owners who need something similar!

Sorry for the delay in responding. For my application, a count down timer is not exactly what I need. However I did a search for one and this is one that I would try

Hi Michael, thanks for the video I'm just building one of these now. Plan is for a 4-5 actuator latch for sheep. I've just hooked the battery, timer, and actuator together for the first time. Testing it indoors the cylinder sticking out of the actuator gets incredibly hot. I suspect it may be how the timer puts power into the actuator for a full minute. Did you run into this issue?

    • @PearadiseFarms

I used a deer feeder timer and it goes off for only 1 second 1 minute would probably get way too hot and burn it up

@@PearadiseFarms Ah! The deer feeder, of course. I had forgotten about that as I was concentrating on my own build. I'm making progress, it was suggested I use a 555 delay timer between my timer and the actuator. I should be able to set that to one second.
