I was an avid watcher of this serial on Saturday afternoons in the early 50s. It was sandwiched in between two westerns, usually starring Roy Rogers or Gene Autry and many others. I now recognize that some of these serial actors were also playing roles in many of those westerns.
Shoot modern movies have the same thing going, someone will get punched dead on in the face, and fall to the ground,,,not a mark on them,,just talking about this the other night when I watched Independence day 2,,,what Ive noticed in theses old serials, 90% of punches thrown are right hooks,,"A right, then a right, then another right!!!! HA! :)
Here's why: The guys fighting were actually the stunt doubles for the actors. So to keep it harder to see their faces, they more or less glued their hats on their heads during the fight scenes.
That's because it's a lot easier to show a guy getting plugged with a .38 than being melted down to a puddle with a ray gun. Besides, the .38 can always just "wing" one of the good guys...
That particular model requires you to have the vertical leap of a 20 year old Olympic athlete. Did you see that take off!?! It was a mix between a competition trampoline, a gymnastic floor routine and Shawn Kemp. With hope like that he doesn't need a boost!
Wow find this classic after 65 years. Lived overseas with no TV or movies until 6 then moved to Ely, NV. Couldn't wait till Saturday matinees to watch Commander Cody and his rocket suit. I think this series made a lot of people want to be space pioneers. Fantastic special effects for the late 40s and early 50s.
It's exciting actually seeing and witnessing the differences in the world between the 1960's and these days that we are currently living in. The 'culture' of 1960 and 2020 - would represent two different countries, in two completely different times !
When I was in elementary school, this series was broadcast in Japan early in the morning. Why is it early in the morning? I'm not sure. I loved this Sc-Fi drama, but I hadn't seen it until the end. I had to go to school. At that time, Japan was recovering rapidly from the collapse of the war, but it was still very poor. The quality of the TV programs produced in Japan at that time was low, and I was surprised at the wonderful special effects of this drama. I was particularly excited when Cody jumped up into the sky. The inside of his rocket was also very interesting and cool. I've wanted to see this series for decades. Thanks to your channel, my dream has come true.
One season of Mystery Science Theater 3,000, one Rocketeer move, one obscure reference in Star Wars Episode III, 20 fucking years, and here I am. Finally.
Any of you remember Clayton Moore who played the good guy called the Lone Ranger and his side kick Tonto? I notice Moore is in all of these episodes too. But he plays the part of a bad guy who is working for the Radar Men.
He was shot at with a nuclear powered pistol. His major organs were liquified from the radiation. Also, the anti-dopping tests are non-existant up there. Lunar athletes are all juiced up.
Never ever heard about this TV-series. OK, it wasn`t broadcasted in Europe and even if it was so, I wasn´t born at that time. Great to watch each chapter!
I dig how these guys fight without causing bruises, tearing clothes, and even loosing their hats in a fight. They can even jump out of a speeding car without damaging cloths. Amazing!
I've been watching Radar Men from the Moon on VHS and digitizing it. Have 6 more episodes to digitize. I was wondering when this series was made because those cars really look old. Makes me feel really old being born in 1946.
Actually, the entire Star Wars saga is an homage to these serials. That is why Lucas started with "Episode IV"-he said many times that he was channeling the excitement of the space serials of his youth
This series was maybe RELEASED in 1952, but, if you look closely, you'll see the Roman numerals in the opening frames show the copyright year to show 1951. MCMLI ;o)
They really tired to cut corners in those days. That is the third time they used that scene over in the rocket where he figures the course & says we are almost there..... oh well this is my third time watching this Thanks for putting out here.
Notice the inclusion of the famous “Lone Ranger Rock” that he, Jay Silverheels and all the bad guys rode around in endless circles? Little did Clayton know at the time, that he was looking at his future.
I use to watch this program in the 60s on channel 9 khjtv at 4:00pm Monday- Friday with uncle Charlie garage on channel 9 island also engineer bill drinking milk red and green light and the great Zeus's showing Hercules cartoons I used to put on a black jacket and a paper bag and jump off the roof and tree they also show the son of zorro and clayton Moore was a outlaw there to
I suppose the seat of Commando Cody’s trousers is lined with asbestos, what with that rocket pac exhaust and all. Watched this on Saturday mornings as a boy. Plenty of two fisted action.
I love these shows. They are surprisingly entertaining. Flash Gordon is very good too. Unfortunately there is constent punching contests that last way to long . The hand guns ?
Riddick and his invaders from the moon need to seriously rethink their hiring practices. Not only are Riddick's palace guards totally incompetent, but so are the goons he hires to help Grok back on earth. They can't even re-aim the ray gun, but have to turn the whole truck around. Good goons shouldn't be that hard to find.
Here too Tom Steel does the stunts! Love this stuf, why Holywood doesn't do this stuf anymore ,I the children would love to see this on Saturday Matenee!
Look...it's the Rocketeer. I wonder how many kids and probably some adults who tried making a rocket pack after seeing this movie? Bet the hospitals had a rush on butt burns several weeks after this serial was shown in theaters.

It's the best of the serials as far as I concerned but also Plothole Central: Why for instance can Cody put a sleeping gas into the ventilation ducts. Air conditioning when it has just been established that they need air locks on the moon?! Etc., etc., etc. This stuff is overripe for riffing! :-)
Oh, for sure! Plot holes a-plenty, and dialog made up on the fly. Get it in the can and get it out the door! One of my favorite goof-ups? They hard-mount their atomic ray gun into the back of that old truck and so can't even really aim the weapon. if they want to aim, they have to move the whole truck! And these guys planned on taking over the earth? :-)
@@greggrobinson5116 Yep, another great plothole. Why do they hide behind the corner of that truck with those handguns and only protected by canvas. I would indeed have jumped in and blasted the hell out of that pesky rocket dude! :-)
Notice the suicide door on the cargo truck doesn't fly open all the way and stay that way when the guy gets out to shoot the rocket man and the regular door on the plane is easily opened by one hand during flight and stays open for rocket man to enter? lol
Haha what is the point of them even drawing their guns on the bad guys?? They are just gonna get slapped away.... They should just go in like " ok, fists up!"
I was an avid watcher of this serial on Saturday afternoons in the early 50s. It was sandwiched in between two westerns, usually starring Roy Rogers or Gene Autry and many others. I now recognize that some of these serial actors were also playing roles in many of those westerns.
I love this kind of thing!
Flash Gordon, Lost in Space & *all that!*
Clayton Moore, one of the bungling bad guys in this film, went on to play The Lone Ranger on TV.

I LOVE THE OLD SCI- FI, MOVIES. SOME POPCORN & PIZZA DOESN'T GET BETTER.
Love these old serials - ever notice how no matter how many fist fights they get in, no one ever gets bruised up - or even lose their hats?
Shoot modern movies have the same thing going, someone will get punched dead on in the face, and fall to the ground,,,not a mark on them,,just talking about this the other night when I watched Independence day 2,,,what Ive noticed in theses old serials, 90% of punches thrown are right hooks,,"A right, then a right, then another right!!!! Or locks the door to the lab!
Fun fact: George Lucas named a Clone Trooper "Commander Cody" in Attack of the Clones as a nod to this great show!
The 'hat' thing was a filmmaking trick. It made the stunt men less recognizable.
Here's why: The guys fighting were actually the stunt doubles for the actors. So to keep it harder to see their faces, they more or less glued their hats on their heads during the fight scenes.
If you are in the right "mood" this is bliss.
eden 1 yes!
A perfect Covidmania vaccidote
Despite the presence of space-age weaponry, every chapter has a fist fight and a shootout with revolvers.
Yes and had a chance to use a ray gun but didn't bother
That's because it's a lot easier to show a guy getting plugged with a .38 than being melted down to a puddle with a ray gun. Besides, the .38 can always just "wing" one of the good guys...
Ergo: Man will always stay the same caveman. The choice of weapon is only the icing on the cake.

I just love the office chairs on a spaceship?
The Apollo moon program used them, too Very comfortable.

Don't you just love these old 12 chapter serials I do especially seeing Clayton Moore playing a bad Guy. for a change. Thanks for the upload. Out.
Any of you remember Clayton Moore who played the good guy called the Lone Ranger and his side kick Tonto? I notice Moore is in all of these episodes too. But he plays the part of a bad guy who is working for the Radar Men.

Brings back memories. Saturday mornings, 9am, KLZ Channel 7 in Denver, Colorado... Good ole days... Thanks for the uploads!
Nice 👍
Was also shown weekly on the PBS series "Matinée at the Bijou'' in the 1980s.
Never ever heard about this TV-series. OK, it wasn`t broadcasted in Europe and even if it was so, I wasn´t born at that time. Great to watch each chapter!
It wasn't a TV series. Back in the day, there were these shorts before the main feature in the movies.
I CAN'T STOP REWATCHING THESE!
I love it thanx for the upload
Miserable ppl, 26 last count, who gave this a 👎 Why are you here? To me it's 👍👍👍👍👍 thank you

No blood and guts ! 🤪
I can not even think what jumping out of a speeding car would do to a man nonetheless his hat.
Enough to get American Veterans out of their hospital beds or wheelchairs and cheer!
Those darn Radar men just ruin everything. Wouldn’t the world be swell without em? Only you can help.
Really good flying effect. Looks totally real.
Clayton Moore's voice is so distinctive in this serial.
HI HO SILVER
1952 we couldn’t wait for next episode
2021 so funny
I'm so sorry we've lost these exciting days, I'm
afraid they're gone forever.
You got to love the old movies. "Safety belts fasten?" The chairs that they were in had caster wheels.
Picky, picky, picky. Next you'll be claiming that there aren't clouds in outer space between the earth and the moon.
That's because when shooting was over, the chairs had to go back to the offices they came from...
"one of these days Alice....pow! Right too the moon".😂😂😂
Ah, the good old days when we imagined aliens living on all the planets. And they usually were out to get us. How did we survive???
...got enough aliens on our own planet don't need any more ... 🤣
By eating Wheaties, of course!
Sci Fi is just another mirror we hold up!

FILMED IN 1952
In Star Wars Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars, there is a clone army leader called Commander Cody I doubt very much that it’s an accident.😉
Yeah, it's confirmed to be a direct reference.
Actually, the entire Star Wars saga is an homage to these serials. That is why Lucas started with "Episode IV"-he said many times that he was channeling the excitement of the space serials of his youth
How many rounds do those S&W 38 specials hold? They never have to reload them. Gotta love it!
As kids, we never thought about it. Later, those guns became known as “infinite repeaters”.
question answered lol
This series was maybe RELEASED in 1952, but, if you look closely, you'll see the Roman numerals in the opening frames show the copyright year to show 1951. MCMLI ;o)
The copyright will show before the 'release' date.
Have you noticed that in all the fight-scenes, their hats stay on? It’s not just this serial either.
Just seeing The Lone Ranger as a bad guy is enough to give me bad dreams!

first time for me seeing this love these classics never been scene.
Joel, and the MST3k team crew sent me on a search. They, of course had to watch many of these episodes in space.
I would also park my super secret, super advanced spaceship somehwere in the open desert!

Clayton Moore is one of the Bad Guys in this serial!! lol
Notice the inclusion of the famous “Lone Ranger Rock” that he, Jay Silverheels and all the bad guys rode around in endless circles? Little did Clayton know at the time, that he was looking at his future.
I didn’t notice if he was using silver bullets
He could have flown over the molten rock 🤔 mate on back
These guys sure have a roundabout way of taking over the earth lol. I love 'em none the less, those lunar nuts!

Chris Cheshire! I agree 100% Clayton Moore would have been much better in the role, I cannot see the Lone Ranger as a bad guy.
Oh No, the Lone Ranger has gone bad guy.

I don't think Commando and Ted won one fist fight with Graber and Daley who ,incredibly, kept frequenting the same cafe just asking to be captured.
